    Not sure why the application of a topical steroid was done. You want inflammation to happen, that’s how the skin regenerates. We never use steroids in wound care because it prevents healing. You did great though, that treatment is certainly painful!

    • @AshleyHandley
      @AshleyHandley  Год назад

      Ahhh okay. I know she mentioned in the video it helps to calm the skin. I’m getting microneedling with PRP done with her this week, I’m going to ask and see what she says,

    • @m.dikadermatology4445
      @m.dikadermatology4445 11 месяцев назад

      @Michelle-dq7ud, we performed a sub ablative laser/resurfacing procedure and as such, do not want/need inflammation as we are removing the top layer of the skin (epidermis). This laser is similar to chemical peel (superficial, medium or deep) where we want the effects without any residual inflammation that might lead to hyperpigmentation. Once the end point has been reached, the skin is cooled down.
      Aerolase has another laser called Neo (1064 NdYag long pulse), this laser when used for rejuvenation, heat generation is a desired endpoint (targeting water in the dermis and as a result stimulates collagen and elastin remodeling) and cooling/icing is not recommended.
      I hope that this answer clarifies why a topical steroid was applied post ERA laser.
      Of note, we offer both Neo and ERA by Aerolase at our practice M. Dika Dermatology and more information can be found on our website mdikadermatology.com or social media @mdikadermatology (IG)

    Which types of perks do you do to maintain ? Can you tell us what do you do specifically other than tretenoin and vitamin c? Also is yours melasma or regular hyperpigmentation?

    • @AshleyHandley
      @AshleyHandley  Год назад

      For maintenance the main actives I use are tret, vitamin c, and sunscreen all the time. I get chemical peels in the winter. I’ve tried a lot of products and really a good vitamin c and tret works for me. This is for regular hyperpigmentation!
