    Insect General Hospital: This is a sad day for us all, the 2 red wasps admitted yesterday for gunshot wounds have succumbed to their injuries. The a(s)salt is still under infestation, i mean investigation.

    My wife brought one home last week and I thought ‘great, more useless stuff’. I got home tonight only to find a bunch of fruit flies in the basement bathroom and knew I had to get the Bug Hunter. It was a total massacre. I took way more shots than I should have, but I got all 10 of them on one tank of salt and had the best time doing it. I told my wife it was one of the best purchases that we have ever made.

      Sounds a bit like my experience trying this thing out, lots of fun and while there might be salt everywhere you end up having more fun going on a bug hunt rather than just swinging a flyswatter around.

      I might tear this down and mod it a bit, especially if I can get my hands on a second. I normally keep one blaster stock and try modding a spare, and this thing's neat enough I wouldn't want a mod went bad to ruin it.

    Nice review! Certainly wasn't expecting this as a buzzbee product!
    Yeah, it's a shame it doesn't work on tougher bugs. I had one of the old single barrel salt blasters, worked pretty well on spiders and flies, but not on wasps. Shells too tough.

    I wonder if I could use it to salt my walk in our Michigan winters lol

  • @MarkPalmer1000
    @MarkPalmer1000 2 года назад +6

    Good points are two barrels and a low price. Effective on flies and small spiders at 1-2 foot range. Trigger squeeze is fairly light. Bad points are this salt shooter is really weak by comparison to the Bug-A-Salt 3.0, and thus doesn't have the distance accuracy as salt loses velocity quickly in the air. I would never use Bug Hunter on any stinging insects as it's just going to piss them off rather than kill or incapacitate them. The Bug-A-Salt is a more effective killer, just comes down to you get what you pay for.

    I just grabbed one of these from Walmart, they are on clearance right now for 12 bucks. Couldnt pass that up. It does shoot a little weaker than the bug a salt but I’m really thinking of digging into this thing and modding it to shoot harder... if you could make a mod video on this thing, you’d be the man and you’d be doing a lot of us a huge favor lol

    • @MongooseJakeNerf
      @MongooseJakeNerf  2 года назад +2

      If you're dealing with wasps and such that's going to be the better salt gun. I've mostly got flies and knats here and it knocks them out just fine but struggles on the wasps and can't take down all of the beetles we have at the porch during evenings.
      I'm still thinking of modding this one for more punch.

    Interesting... so it looks like an evolution of the Bug-A-Salt. Same basic mechanics, even down to the feeding mechanism. Bigger salt "hopper" and two barrels instead of one.
    What an absolutely bizarre market for Buzz Bee to dip into, especially considering their name, haha.
    I *really* want to make this fire something like Elites/Halfs because that shell is ridiculously neat. Pulling out the salt hopper and using that as a loading port would be just amazing.

      I have both, the Bug Hunter at work and the Bug-A-Salt 3.0 at home. Bug-A-Salt is hands down better, as it's considerably more powerful. But Bug-A-Salt costs a lot more, and both are effective with flies at fly-swatter range. You can trust the Bug-A-Salt with wasps and yellow jackets, I wouldn't use this weaker salt shooter with them.

      Half the price, seems like half the power, but true two stage trigger on a double barrel design. Good for flies, gnats, and mosquitoes, but struggles on wasps.
      As for the copying part, it's about as much copying as any brand making dart blasters is copying another, just with salt as the ammo this time around.

  • @KionKamon

    I think I have a Bug Assalt 2.0, but it can kill wasps, you just have to hit ‘em more than once. Never got stung by a wasp using it though. I’m pretty sure that I’ve killed at least one paper wasp with it and two bald-faced hornets with it. Hornets are a bit tougher than wasps. Took like 6 or so shots to bring those down, and like 4 to bring down a wasp. I’m pretty sure that they never figured out exactly what was causing them pain or pissing them off.

    • @MongooseJakeNerf
      @MongooseJakeNerf  2 года назад

      That'd be the big difference in the Bug Assault and this Bug Hunter. I've not had a Bug Assault in a while but they seemed in the past to have a solid hit, while this is a bit softer shooting. This works great on flies, mosquitoes, gnats and other softer bugs, and seems to bother the wasps enough to make them leave, but doesn't have the punch to just nuke them on the spot. I've been using this a ton though, and it's proven extremely reliable and useful.

      @KionKamon 2 года назад

      @@MongooseJakeNerf that’s fair. I do think the bug hunter looks pretty fun though
