Honestly, for every detail in this movie, knowing it was thought about and planned by Tarkovsky is mind blowing. The shear amount of visualization and thought that would go into a project like this, makes my regular brain hurt
Such amazing archival footage. Sublime peeks of the master of light in action. Love the early 1 degree spot meter. The huge Russia 35mm camera. That Cooke zoom is gorgeous and a timeless recorder of heavenly Tarkovsky images. I suspect they shot the behind the behind the scenes footage with one of those handheld Russian 35mm cameras. Superb. No low resolution 16mm documentation of Tarkovsky here!
2:48: idc about the double 1, or 2 or 3, 100 meters , 3 meters , I don’t need that. For me the only thing that important is you don’t show anything. You can do as you want but don’t show anything. It’s important, you can’t miss it... etc etc
@ I think by telling her "not to show anything" he means "I don't want it to be in any way artificial or fake, it must come from deep down inside, and be extremely real and heartfelt". He literally tells her "only you can control it", meaning she needs to channel her gut instinct or subconscious (or whatever it is) to get it right. At the end he repeats twice he wants it to be "on the edge."
A genuis soul and brain.. A charisma.. Gone too soon
