With EarthQuaker’s new Data Corrupter you can wave goodbye to twang, chime and chug and say hi to Oscillators, pitch-shifting and portamento for a world of incredible synth sounds.
In techy terms, the Data Corrupter is a three-voice modulated monophonic harmonizing Phase-locked loop, also known as a PLL. In Stefan terminology, it’s a super badass analog synth pedal with three independent voices, a sea of harmonic pitch possibilities, wild vibrato and gliding portamento modulation, and a crushing square-wave fuzz.

You never cease to amaze me, Stefan. 99% of the times I check a new weird pedal release in a few youtube demos, I go "meh, it makes cool weird noises, but it just wouldn't work for me; I don't even know how to make something pleasant, melodic, or quite simply that isn't pure noise with it". And then, you go and demo it, proving it's entirely possible (without a single blues lick), every damn time. Keep doing whatever it is that you do, proving Joe Bonamassa wrong one video at a time :)

ThePedalZone Well, you sure inspire me to pick up my guitar and play something else than the perpetual power chords and pentatonic leads. Not to the point where I actually do it, though (most of the time, I'm commuting to or from work), but every time I hear you play, I turn into that meme cat in a suit who reads a newspaper with a deeply introspective look on his face and goes "I should learn how to play ambient stuff". But, you know, getting there...

You nailed it! Your approach of this pedal is way more musical than the other demo out there! At 4:25 you give me goosebumps... A little bit of 80's vibe with an actual guitar synth sound from the 21th century!

I think you're correct on your assessment. The other demos just show what kinds of NOISE you can make with this pedal. ThePedalZone demonstrates actual MUSICAL uses. We want to make MUSIC, not just weird noises.

I can't get enough of this pedal. Every demo leaves me smiling. It's just the coolest sounding thing and it almost seems like the tracking is 1:1. I'm going to have to own this someday :)

The tracking can be tricky to figure out, but once you get it nailed down, it’s pretty cool
I'm revisiting this one and this still blows me away.
I have the Data Corrupter and it can be challenging to dial in, partially because it is insanely analogue.
You really show what this synth monster can do....I need jump back into my DC

You have any success making songs with this pedal?
@@vexedism i was playing in a metal band, so this pedal had little space in there. But I found a good fuzzy synth sound using the subharmonic, setting it to track the oscilator on glide mode, rating on max. That config allowed me to making the 5ths (or any interval on the sub knob) of the root note, so I could use it to play "normal riffs". The square signal by himself is a pretty great fuzz, and I use an overdrive before to shape the tone. When the pandemic ceases I will try for sure to use it with this settings for more "conventional" situations, just need to form a new band, haha.

I gotta agree with the others. I checked out a bunch of demos for this pedal, and they were mostly useless. No real explanation of how to actually use this thing. Just what I would expect guys screwing around with it at a local guitar shop to do. No musicality whatsoever. Then there was your demo, and I kept coming back to it and I decided I needed it in my life because you created music, functional, enjoyable music. Ordered it today, and I'm stoked. Keep up the great work! Thank you!

Hey Stefan you did the data corrupter justice. When I was younger I always wanted the original Roland Guitar Synth,
Robert Fripp and Adrean Belew used them, the sounded awesome. You've created some of sounds I loved.

I wasn’t expecting Sync-lead type of sounds. So far I only found the Moog FreqBox to be able to do that with analogue oscillator/s.

Sticking to one note at a time is not so bad if it sounds this good. I think if you split the signal with some bandpass filters and each output on its own data corrupter we can bring this into polyphonic space. Thanks for a great demo!
