Not being able to run away from a fiora as a singed with ghost, ult, phase rush, w and deadmans is one of the most frustrating things I've had to experience
Its my sad reason i stopped singed. What point is it to run if everyone outruns him. Its so weird. Atleast when he had his old passive he got tanky now hes quite squishy if build ap or dmg lacks if full tank.
Mobility is so high that I feel that Slow effects are almost obsolete. In my opinion, Slows should either slow down Dashes or reduce the distance a Dash can cover.
@@trelantonis3823 thats the greatest Bullshit of the game imo. She gets slow and Also breaks her arms, imo the efect of the slow of movespeed os decrease the distance of her jumps, not make jump in slow motion that would decrease her atk speed
Addressing all responses at once, I'm not a game designer and all, but I think there should be a difference between a blink and a dash. A dash is a character moving fast, a Blink is basically a short range teleport. So I would make either the dashes go a shorter distance or go slower, like Yasuo's E, Camille's Hookshot, Akali's backflip and ult, Kalista jump distance (for movement slow), Kha'zix's jump, Rengar'a Jump... Those are dashes, and should be slowed. But I feel that Blinks, such as Ezreal's E, Kassadin's R, Fiddle's R, Zed's shadows, among others. Blinks are much more rare, special and usually have a really long CD (except for Kassadin, but he's balanced around mana and not cooldown, he's a classic and no one can ever say that he's overpowered or his mobility is toxic). But champions with dashes usually have a really low CD on those and sometimes even a reset clause (Yasuo has virtually no CD, Irelia has a reset on Q...) You should have options through itemization to deal with any weakness your champion might have, there's items against Heal/Sustain, against Armor, Magic Resist, AD, Magic Damage... But there isn't a single item tailored to Counter mobility instead of Buffing mobility. A dashing champion just laughs at your Serylda's Grudge or your Rylai's. The only champions who are really hurt by these items are the ones who don't have mobility to begin with (I.E.: Juggernauts and Dash-less ADCs). I can't say what should be done, but there should be a way to counter mobility through itemization the same way you can itemize against any other feature of the champions. Edit: Hopefully I could make some sense of what's on my mind, English is a second language so I'm hoping I didn't mistakenly convey any idea lol
@@matheusmterra there is everfrost i guess but thats not so easily built. I am a support player and i would like the idea of a new item that its active is like the oracle and disables dashes for even 1 or 2 secs. Should it be the supports choice only? I dont know. But supports are known for having actives and their items are lacking power because of that otherwise it would be broken and its stats would be not worth for solo laners

Seriously though in a game where mobility has become such a prevelant mechanic how come Grounded is still one of the rarest forms of CC in the game. I mean don't get me wrong, Poppy is my main Jungler and it makes me feel good ruining Akalis day by standing next to the ADC, but I also know for a fact very few people play those 3 champions. As an ADC main i'm glad that things like Stridebullshit got nerfed. It was way too powerful, in combination with all the other things that gave movement speed, on champions not meant to be that fast. Now we at least need a general way to deal with the overloaded pieces of shit maybe a poppy w summoner spell? :D
@@GattlingCombo I really fucking hate how people still dont abandon the game when the most fun and unique aspect of it has died for the FUCKING MONEY...We are given 150+ champions of which 20 are allowed to stay consistenly in the meta without being nerfed to oblivion...Rumble? Riot stated that they will release a skin for every champion who hasnt had in a long time (3+ years) meanwhile releasing at least 140 skins for the same SELLING CHAMPS...i mean what aspect of this game makes it good to play?
The problem is not too much mobility, it's there's not enough counters for said mobility, there's like 3 spells in the entire game that counter mobility, Poppy W, Taliyah E and Cassiopeia W, 2 of those don't even work on blinks. There's also point and click cc but for balance reasons it has to have a risk or some caviats, like being in melee range like Pantheon, being squishy like Fiddlesticks or being tied to an ultimate like Malzahar or Tham Kench.
The "mobility nerfs" that riot did on a bunch of items actually mostly made mobility an even bigger issue (except for stridebreaker abusers) Because immobile champs can't compete with mobile champs anymore. Removing movement speed on a bunch of items increased the gap between champs who do, and don't have dashes.
Man the gap is still the same, mobility items were built by assassins as well as mages or tanks. It just made mobility a thing for those champions who need it to work
I get thinking some champs have to much Mobility but I also think it’s pretty weird to think the solution to some champs (who actually need a certain amount of mobility in their kits to function) that have too much mobility would be to give other champs that don’t need mobility dashes. (Rereads your comment, sees *except for strikebreaker abusers*) actually you know what I agree with you lmfao
@@ashenguard_1437 I know the solution, Riot should make a League of Legends 2 and put in it their lastest champions that don't play the same game as the oldest champion
At least they reworked Irelia and now she gets to build adc items and still facetank your entire team while murdering everyone is sight. Hopefully Riot realises this and nerfs Asol.
@Krystel Iris de Castro yea but your talking about cc that instance witch not ever champion has and I’m not about to drop my main for counter picking 1 champ
But when she dashes with E she can't cancel it, so you can easly hit her with Lux or Morgana Q, it also makes her super vunerable in late game, unlike certain champion with reseting instant blinks (looking at you Katarina)
literally these 3 champs (poppy, Cassio, Singed) have the grounded ability (and tahm inflicting it on himself) Riot should atleast give more champs access to grounded abilities Viktor W is like the perfect invitation for that cc type. It´s a goddamn gravity field.
As a Velkoz player it is literally so annoying that every new champion needs a dash. Why do champs like Gwen who already has their W need a dash? If you make one positioning mistake as a squishy mage in the current day you are dead. Yes you can flash but they have a dash on a cooldown of like 10 seconds and will catch up to you anyways. The only thing you can really do is to always save your peel ability like Velkoz E, but then it still is a skillshot that you will not hit 100% of the time.
It feels so fun trying to land xerath's ult and the enemy having 2-3 dashes available because why the fuck not, just try to predict their dash position or something.
Fun fact - A good Irelia player can dash 6 times and travel through a whole minion wave in the same amount of time it takes Vel'Koz's e to travel to max range.
Remember when riot reworked a bunch of abilities from target to skillshots. I remember. After they did that, we start getting the mobility meta. I will skillshots but i also like to not die just cause i blinked my eyes while an assassin, slayer, bruiser or diver was in the screen.
The increase in dashes really hurts when the game is so snowbally. It doesnt matter if you try to farm under tower when 2 ppl can wall jump, bypassing wards only to dive you and get out with resets.
Exactly. I just kinda laugh when people say "just play safe". Bruh look at 6:22, Irelia walked under tower, killed Jihn, farmed 3 minions... all while tanking 3 tower shots and she still came out with more hp than she started.
@@MRB2580 And she didn't even have to use her brain at all either. No stun, no ult, no mark on the Jhin at all. She just fully targeted dashed on him and autoed him down. I can appreciate high mobility when it comes to needing to dodge degenerate “skill shots” like malphite R, but when it comes to characters with small hitbox skill shots that are hard to hit, the insane mobility is bullshit.
As an Azir main who doesnt play this game anymore, the real thing that killed the game for me was mobility and Azir's countless present bugs, not back to back nerfs to him. When they removed the ability to cancel dashes from Azir's ultimate and then proceeded to give every chamipon in the game 55 dashes, it came to a point that if i could get lucky and my ult didnt bug out and actually hit the enemy to get them off me, they instantly would be on top of me again by one of their 55 dashes. It was real torment to play Azir even tho he is fun AF. But on Yone's release i decided i had enough of LoL and moved on.
*TLDR:* Riot needs to stop letting dashes have low CD's and be resettable. The problem with dashes/blinks is that they literally all have some sort of reset or a short cooldown. Samira's dash, Akshan's grapple, Katarina's shunpo, and so on are all resettable. Where before you could potentially wait out a dash cooldown to be burnt before throwing CC, now it doesn't matter because new champions either have resettable dashes or dashes with no cooldowns (OR SO MANY DASHES THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER). Ezreal's blink has an extremely long cooldown and as such makes it a very important ability. Dashes that have long cooldowns and cannot be reset objectively have more counter play because it gives you time to play against the enemy when their dashes are down.
I think there needs to be a differentiation between short and long ranged dashes. Like Gwen and Fiora you can complain that they have 3 sec CD dashes but you outrange their dash by quite a bit as most adcs or mages.
“Dashes increase skill expression!” says the Akali who uses her five dashes to dive a Soraka support. The only person with skill here is Soraka if she manages to survive or get a kill.
I hate how people think that spamming more abilities or having more dashes = more skill, it's the opposite, if you don't have any dashes you're forced to think about positioning all the time, if you're caught that's it you're dead there's no escape but if you have 3 billion dashes you can play as retarded as you want and get away with anything as long as you have eyes and can move your cursor and spam keys on your keyboard
@@lucasnadamas9317 That's because those people use a huge fallacy: they tell you that the character has a high skill-cap. It is technically true, but how does it matter in any way? If I gave a champion literally 78 dashes he could use in 3 seconds, the skillcap to fully utilize all those dashes would be basically infinite, but that wouldn't change in any way the fact that the skill-FLOOR is the lowest of the game because you can just dash out of and into everything you want at no cost with no skill or thinking or positional awareness needed. Yes Katarina has a huge skillcap, but her skillfloor is so pisslow that 90% of Katarina mains are toxic assholes who feed in lane but at some point one enemy makes a mistake and the kata just rolls her face on her keyboard and gets a quadrakill because she gets carried by her infinite resets that makes it so by the time any mage can cast a skillshot she's already dashes 2 times and has gotten bonus movespeed.
I mean, where are Akali's 5 dashes tho? She has 2, E and R. And the both also function as her main damage abilities, it's not like they're free dashes like Kata or Zed. Try to play her once, and I will ensure you will not have a good time.
… I only counted 4 XD. And I think some dashes do increase skill expression. Akali is actually a great example of that, because her e has a lot of versatility but is also on a decently high CD and is a skillshot. An example of a dash that does not increase skill expression would be like a malphite r, it’s stupid easy to hit and it has very few alternate uses.
This ties into what you said about the game becoming more combat focused. As combat has become more and more important, mobility has seen its value skyrocket as well. As a mage player, I've found myself forced to choose between two types of champions: Mages like Kennen who have combat mobility and/or are too dangerous to jump on, or mages like Taliyah/Karma that have so many "get-off-me" tools that I actually have a fighting chance. Brand is my 2nd most mastered champ, but I almost never play him. He's kit DEMANDS that you land his Q against anyone trying to get on you, but when everyone has a dash and it's assumed that they can just react, Brand feels unplayable. Moreover, since his Q always follows his E or W (his W can also be dashed), his Q is further countered by mobility because its super telegraphed.
Personally, I would prefer if deashes had a higher cooldown. So that you would need to carfully use them as you wouldn't gain acces to them more than two time per teamfight.
I really like the mention of the ranged/mobility/durability triangle you refeered in this video (albeit I preffer to call it long range/short range/mobility and I'll elaborate why later). It is a triangle that has been broken and its not talked about enough. Long range beats short range because long range can damage short range before they can retaliate. Mobility beats long range because their mobility quickly eliminates a range advantage and short range beats mobility because otherwise why would you ever bother playing something that has nor the range nor the mobility? So these get sheer brute force to compensate. Artillery mages are the extremme of long range, assassins of mobility and juggernauts of short range. Fighters are the middle ground of short range and mobility and tanks are near the short range extremme but not quite on the same level of juggernauts because they tipically have a dash and/or a long range ability to engage. Yet, despite what the triangle would suggest, fighters beat tanks in a 1v1. That is fine because fighters don't have the durability to front line or the mobility to assassinate and get out in a full fledged fight and tanks have cc that makes them useful even on a low economy. However, it is not fine for a tank to lose a duel to an assassin or a juggernaut to get run down by a skirmisher. Akali isn't just outmaneuvering the Maokai's out there as one would expect, she is also beating the Maokai in the brute force department, which is the one Maokai should excel opposed to the Akali. The triangle got broken to the point tanks get shit on by everything and juggernauts which should be the peak of bruteforce are hardly winning against fighters and skirmishers, and not even all of them.
Plus it kinda feels bad when you play safe Sion or other mid game tank. Farming under turret perfectly. Play teamfight correctly but be as good of a frontline as the Irelia who bought botrks and Shieldbow 2 tapped your adc and healed for most of the dmg she got peeled for. In many games it feels like defensive stats doesnt matter when there are so many items with % HP dmg which most of the akali/irelia/camille type Champs get insane 1 item powerspikes from.
basically all mages just are completely fucked over which is why I basically had to leave the midlane and instead swap to Morgana and Lux support (rather then the midline where I used to reside) simply because midlane as a squishy mage with skill shots is hell when every champion can dash infinitely which has resulted in me being unable to initiate fights anymore and it isn't like poking does shit when a Irelia can just dash through all your minions and full heal in under a second
You know, I kinda agree with what you said at the end there, something that I hate more than a hundred dashes, is untargetability, because you can predict a dash, but it's way harder to counter untargetability, or god forbid Gwen is immune Gwen is immune Gwen is immune Gwen is immune
@@Leonardodeboni0406 the simple fact a normal ability can just flat out completely negate an entire ult is just such bullshit. I would rather autoattack a banner of command'ed minion for half a minute than having to deal with these champions.
There should be a champ that can counter this kind of untargetability. Like, if he is around, any champ that get out of untargetability get neutralized for 1 second and can't enter untargetability for 5 sec. Cooldown 15 sec.
I hit most if not all my q the trick is setting up with e if you miss it you miss a q same with ult nowadays unless there is a fight or if you land an e prior there is no way to land it nowadays
@@kelzhikaru I have considered that option before but it makes me hesitant because the margin for error is greater if they approach instead of running away a point blank Q is the least effective away to dish out his maximum output

Especially irelia because the urge to q low minions is too high for irelia players they cant help themselfs. The problem is irelia kills 4 minions and is untradeable or she buys vampiric and it literally isnt worth your mana to poke her and after you play safe lane she comes back with botrks does to you like 800 dmg with its passive in like 3 autos and 2 Qs. And a lot of Champs this season have these 1 item powerspikes that make you wanna kys whilst laning. Mainly Divine sunderer or Botrk abusers
There was a patch when Ahri lost 1/3 of her damage, but gained a movespeed boost. She lost a lot of damage and became the strongest champion in the game.
It is quite interesting how impactful the mini reworks of Diana and Tahm were. By simply swapping around a basic ability and their ult Diana was made more consistent pre 6 and more impactful and satisfying to play as a diver. Tahm Kench has kept his devour/regurgitate, however it has a more pronounced impact and a longer cooldown requiring more awareness from the player when to use it, making it less degenerate, he also gained an aoe cc ability, that is relatively easy to avoid in a 1v1 or small skirmish, but gives him impacht as a disruptor in teamfights and sticking potential to pressure enemy carries. I would love to see your opinion on which other champions might profit from such a mini rework in making their kits more streamlined or cohesive.
Simple fix: Make new items or champs have Silences, Grounded effects and/or point and click cc (stuns or emotion cc like taunt, fear, charm or sleep) and DONT GIVE A 100000 DASHES TO EVERY SINGLE GODDAMM CHAMP AND ITEM
People hate grounding effects so much . I wish Riot would use them more for example why does taliyah e which spawns Rocky terrain doesnt ground but cassios miasma does. And taliyah really needs some love like a lot of older immobile chamos
Silences, grounded and point and click CC is extremely powerful and should not be liberally included in champion kits or items as a counter to mobility. The solution is toning down mobility, not increasing the prevalence of it's counters (because those things are also a huge pain to immobile champs or those with only one minor mobility ability to work with). Same reason why 60% grievous wounds is not a solution to the overload of healing in the game but reducing healing (and (burst) damage) overall is.
"that mobility doesn't instakill them" you haven't played ADC for a while, have you? I don't have enough fingers to count the amount of time an Akali or Leblanc have jumped through my whole team, one-shot me, and get out safely without issues.
Yesterday I was full build brand (you know, regular mage build with the + 950 hp from morello, embrace and rylai) and a Leblanc just dashed and killed me with 1 attack. Boom, 1 auto. :(
@@htlchtlc but brand does the same thing if he was tanky that would be insanely unfair cause he has two auto click ability then boom everybody dead while you alive mages are meant to be weak cause they do insane dmg like if you cc the Leblanc she is dead but because riot is dumb they made champs who are super tanky have dashes and also made then do more dmg then mages cause fair
At this point almost no new champ needs an enchanter. They have shields, heals, mobility, AND crowd control leaving enchanters with only neutral game as something they can provide that isn’t already there.
Too much mobility? IDK, there's a fuck ton... Too much mobility abilities that are damage abilities too... Yeah... Mobility ability shouldn't equal damage ability...
I just wish some characters with cast times had them reduced (with levels maybe?) if they are going to power creep mobility. Chogath Q gives you a whole second to react, when everyone can dash it's damn near impossible to hit late game without previous CC or heavy prediction. If the numbers/knock-up and slow we're reduced but the case time scaled down with levels I think it would be better, and there are many other examples. Cast times just need to be generally reduced if all the new characters are going to be able to dash through them anyways.

Even from the champs you put on screen, almost all of them have SOME form of mobility - jhin passive gives a burst of move speed on crit, neeko's w gives move speed, senna's e gives a slight move speed boost, sera's w also gives all allies movement speed. Sure it's not a blink or a massive boost but it's there.

Having played smite before league, I have no issue predicting dashes and speed ups when lining up skillshots but league seems to be allergic to implementing effective counter measures against annoying mechanics...I can only imagine the salt of Rivens if they had to face Artio who has a 6 second grounding aura Another thing I like about smite is that you can track invisible targets just by hitting them consistently and following the damage numbers, the only league champs I'm aware of who can do something vaguely similar are Zoe and Lillia since their sleep effects put a mark that can be seen even through fog of war or stealth
the thing I miss the most about smite is tanks being, you know, actual TANKS who can TANK, whereas in league they get melted in 3 seconds late game even with full tank build and 8k cho build becouse true damage %hp based damage is very fun and should be in the game, but I mean I guess you also have a shitton of damage to make up for your lack of tank so sure

There's also the fact that a lot more actions are counterable in smite. Yes man, league has too much dashes, like, Pantheon can jump and stun you, ok, but he can't flee, but Irelia... She just burst in you if 1 million dashes and just dash again to her tower in one second
An interesting counter-point could be that skill-shot CC like Morgana binding or Thresh hook are allowed to be so strong because of mobility, and it adds an extra element of prediction that gives those champions more skill expression.
A counterpoint to your counterpoint however, is that both champs you mentioned tend to lack full-combo damage compared to other kits (unless you build 100% damage, but you bet your ass the moment that became mainstream, nerfs would drop like bombs on Japanese cities) with the CC effects being their main feature and until you've maxed them and build a bunch of AH you have a large vulnerability period if you miss. Conversely, many champs with high mobility *also* have high burst damage and short CDs leaving a much shorter vulnerability phase (if there is one at all) and if they also have CCs (which many do) and can take a few hits without dying then, well what the fuck can you do other than die or play a different class (which defeats the purpose of Riot having those classes in the first place)? Also, you could say skill-shot CCs as they are atm are almost problematic for the game because they only work by further penalising the mobility of champions that already suffer from mobility while being easily bypassed by the champs that actually need to be locked down. You might argue prediction is key, but firstly, a lot of skillshots are slow enough they can react without prediction; secondly, just as you're predicting their movement, they predict yours and they have the advantage that by both inaction and correct action they win, whereas you only win with correct action - as such, your win condition is harder than theirs.
In the clip around 6 minutes irelia took 7 tower shots while fighting and killing two champs and still walked out alive. Why are champs that aren’t tanks able to do this? That’s my frustration with the game, some champs and items have everything. If they want mages back in change rylais so it has good stats and give better items for the slow rune, this would slow down the dashing champs.

I mained Ziggs for quite awhile and realized, even though I did not feed, even though I played my lane well, it did not matter if I was going against a hyper carry like yone. He would roam to another lane within 2 seconds and slaughter. By the time I could get to where he was, teammates are already dead. I could duel Yone with ziggs but........yeah. The most I could do is ping. This is when I realized, right now it doesn't matter how good you are with a traditional mage, a hypercarry that moves VERY fast will just dive and kill, and heal back anything you throw at them. Even riot had admitted that mages are in a bad spot right now. (But ziggs gets buffed and nerfed quite often)
Not being able to get close to adcs playing yi with ult and ghost is the worst pain in the ass feeling I've ever experienced in this game. Kaisa, Vayve Jhin, Jinx and not only them but supports that also give movement speed or slow or nock you up in the air is also a pain to the point where I'm fine being cc'ed for 100 year's..
my problem with the mobility creep is that most mobility spells are almost carbon copies of others. theres nothing actually "new", its just the same 50 dashes on every new champ
I think one of the best-designed dash-focused champion is Fizz. Two of his abilities are dashes - but each has a very situational use, and a long cooldown. One of them is both his best escape tool (one of the best in the game) AND his best non-Ult damage source - so you have to choose a powerful engage or to save it for getting out of trouble. The other is a decent engage tool and can also be used as an escape, but with a lot more limitations. And if he burns them both and his target is still alive, he's a sitting duck for the next 10 seconds. Compare that to Yasuo who can literally dash once every tenth of a second provided there are minions around. It's a whole different game for them.
as a juggernaut main, most matchups on top lane i just have to wait for my opponent to mess up royaly. to explain, when i lane into an akali or a camile, i do not dictate the fight. i have to wait for her to fight so i can retaliate. if i try to engage on her she can easy use her burst and dash away turning the lane into "well time to wait for her to use all her mobility agressively so i have a chance of killing her"
The main issue I have is that mobility never seems to have trade-offs in a champion's power budget unless you're Taliyah, Quinn or Aurelion Sol. Akali and Katarina's damage is insane considering how mobile they are.
You make a good point there friendo, really wish irelia wasn’t so tanky at all stages of the game. Don’t even get me started on a behind yassuo always being a threat to an adc just by dashing through a minion wave into your face and windwalling.
Community often forgot, we have runes. To share, I often go predator as garen (yes Im a garen main) against assassins. Against someone like hecarim or tryndamere who I cant one shot with Q and R, I more often than not go phase rush or run ghost, depending on the enemy comp. There are tons of ways, you just have to be creative
@@ziglaus firstly what kind of data would someone even show to explain the amount of dashes. Also its pretty bad in mid when basically every popular champ in a lane can jump around 3 times and run you down from a screen away
I do agree on that, I like to play off-picks for mid (but they're kinda broken champs) and they work pretty well because of mobility (Viego, Fiora, Riven)
Well winrates for one, would be great. Combining the winrates of all the champions with dashes in a specific lane and all the champions without dashes. Then says there is no tradeoff for mobility in league. I would also like to see that. Do, on average, mobile champions deal equal ammount of dps or burst as their non-mobile counterparts? Are they, on average, equally tanky? I would love this to be a more objective research based account, but its sadly not
@@ziglaus winrates don't work as examples bc a lot of the mobility champs have many apes playing them who drag the winrate down even tho the champs are busted.
Hey Vars, I really enjoy you videos and they give me a whole new perspective of the game. This was a very interessting topic and you did great on showing us your thoughts about it but I think that you sometimes miss out on presenting a solution for the mentioned problem. In this video about mobility I thought that it could be a good idea to release more champions with antimovement-abilities like grounds. Your videos would lighten my day even more if you would mention such possibilities. LOVE by a fan who watched every VOD since this year started.
Ban Akali to keep her off your team, not the enemy's lol. That champion is garbage now. Takes 300% the effort to pilot for like 70% the results. Dashes don't mean much when she does potato damage and dies from a Bard's fart. Katarina, on the other hand... now that's a monstrosity.
@@Raiko01 the most recent round of nerfs are what killed her; her bread-and-butter combo was literally removed so you shouldn't have to worry about her burst anymore. I won't ask what rank you are, but in low diamond I've played as and against her a ton (before and after the nerfs), and I can promise she's not worth prioritizing rn. Other AP assassins/skirmishers (Katarina, Sylas, Diana, etc) are much easier and do what she does but better in every way. She's in a similar spot to Aphelios after he got nuked imo, where even if you're exceptionally good at the champion you'll get mediocre results at best.

Ah yes...my favourite. Wad isnt fun about being clapped by akalis multiple dashes ,kayns wallboosting, camilles attack on titan or yones/yasous whole kit when youre trying to play immobile mages and enchanters. The problem is how insane its gotten. Champs can run you down easily making it often basicly Impossible to play champs you love if those do poorly vs mobility ( sorry taliyah my girl, azir and aurelion )
High mobility characters should be executers. Easily killing low health targets but unable to burst those near full hp even when fed. But riot is pathetic.
I am a strong believer in power budget. By that i mean that every champion gets like a hundred points to spend on each ability, his passive and his basic stats and whatever else may affect their strength. Let's take like amumu as an example. He puts about 0.00005 of those points in his passive, W and E, maybe around 20 in his Q (soon to be twice as much) and then the rest in his insane ult aswell as his very beefy stats. As long as no champion is given more than those 100 points, everything is fine from a balance perspective (newer champions tend to put much less points into their stats and more into whacky mechanics and minigames on every single ability. That doesn't mean that they can't be obnoxious (yuumi putting 99 points into her W which removes any counterplay whatsoever is a prime example for that). But since mobility is not a problem in itself, and also makes the champion that has it way more enjoyable to play i don't think it falls into the "bad design" case that yuumi does. Aslong as riot remembers how much a dash is worth and to make the champions pay for having it by reducing their power in other areas, i think that having more mobility in the game is generally a good thing, as it makes the game much more skill reliant and fun to play.
Personaly, i would add a knockdown effect to some of the old champion’s abilities. Kinda like when they added GW to Kled’s Q. Just make some CC abilities interrupt dashes and there you go, now the champions that are completely destroyed by dashes have a way to counter them. Zyra’s E for example, would be much more valuable if it worked like Ahri’s E.
He already counters a lot of those diving Champs already but you need to use your W well and your teammates have to stay inside it which is the main problem
As a Fiddle OTP this topic is really interesting for me since my champion needs to stay still for 2 seconds in order to drain life and my ultimate is position dependent, on top of already being an immobile squishy mage, so sadly I have to be hyper aware of every little piece of mobility the enemy has at its disposal. Good thing I am an anti-carry and can also CC them for 3.5 seconds so that's sweet revenge from me.
As a Fiora player, I do disagree on the mobility creep. Every single champs can escape from me, and if they're smart enough, they can get away (no, jokes aside, you can't outrun me, 3 sec Q dash goes WWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
This is exactly why I main Ashe and xayah cuz they’re the only adcs that can consistently defend themselves from being dived (ashes passive slow and ult and xayahs aoe root and invulnerablity during her ult)
I felt this man, adc’s are so dependent on not just my team but also the enemy team. I was playing senna and miss fortune before but now I switched to ziggs, sivir, ezreal, and now tristana. It’s sucks to just be ran down by a 1/2 Irelia or a 2/10 alkali use everything and still die like a dog. I love the role but I abhor it’s major weaknesses.
Between the burst and mobility, we lost the fights where someone would chase people down through the whole map slowly walking them and the feeling of helplessness as you can do anything about it. Trundle for example
I just recently had a game playing Sivir with a Jax as enemy Top. I saw Jax coming and started running away. I used my Ult, my heal as extra movement speed, my blink and I used my e to nullify his stun. I didnt try to fight, I just tried to run away and he not only caught up with me, he even hit me and killed me.
My poor sivir friend, i get you. But you are too inocent to think that your ult that only exist tô give move speed Will mais you rum away from these bad boys. And um not even talking about sivir passives that Also Only gives movespeed still gives you less speed That akshan one

Yes like Kalista. She cant start another AA until she reaches her destination even though she has 2.0 AS.
But champions with dashes usually have a really low CD on those and sometimes even a reset clause (Yasuo has virtually no CD, Irelia has a reset on Q...)
You should have options through itemization to deal with any weakness your champion might have, there's items against Heal/Sustain, against Armor, Magic Resist, AD, Magic Damage...

100% Agree, and the fact that they can now dash through his wall. Like wtf is that, the one defensive trick he had and they removed it.

What you do when fighters got the durability of tanks too?
Plus it kinda feels bad when you play safe Sion or other mid game tank. Farming under turret perfectly. Play teamfight correctly but be as good of a frontline as the Irelia who bought botrks and Shieldbow 2 tapped your adc and healed for most of the dmg she got peeled for. In many games it feels like defensive stats doesnt matter when there are so many items with % HP dmg which most of the akali/irelia/camille type Champs get insane 1 item powerspikes from.
For me there is so much.
It is really hard to play a Sqishy Support, when nearly all Champs can Dash in your Face.
basically all mages just are completely fucked over which is why I basically had to leave the midlane and instead swap to Morgana and Lux support (rather then the midline where I used to reside) simply because midlane as a squishy mage with skill shots is hell when every champion can dash infinitely which has resulted in me being unable to initiate fights anymore and it isn't like poking does shit when a Irelia can just dash through all your minions and full heal in under a second
Especially Nami like bruh even my grandma can dodge her Q and R
Whenever I fight Akali I have the reoccurring flash back to when my mouse couldn't catch up to her
that moment when akali is faster than your pointer
You know, I kinda agree with what you said at the end there, something that I hate more than a hundred dashes, is untargetability, because you can predict a dash, but it's way harder to counter untargetability, or god forbid

Dota solution: 27 second point click stun.
No, no.
@@Aryzon13 me play arc warden me root and silence you twice while still taking more skill than any league champ.

Having played smite before league, I have no issue predicting dashes and speed ups when lining up skillshots but league seems to be allergic to implementing effective counter measures against annoying mechanics...I can only imagine the salt of Rivens if they had to face Artio who has a 6 second grounding aura
Another thing I like about smite is that you can track invisible targets just by hitting them consistently and following the damage numbers, the only league champs I'm aware of who can do something vaguely similar are Zoe and Lillia since their sleep effects put a mark that can be seen even through fog of war or stealth
the thing I miss the most about smite is tanks being, you know, actual TANKS who can TANK, whereas in league they get melted in 3 seconds late game even with full tank build and 8k cho build becouse true damage %hp based damage is very fun and should be in the game, but I mean I guess you also have a shitton of damage to make up for your lack of tank so sure

There's also the fact that a lot more actions are counterable in smite. I'd also add that damage tanks in Smite actually fall off, you'll hardly ever see a guardian winning 1v1 against a full build hunter (except Cabrakan *flashbacks...did I just hear a blink!?*) but in League it's just your 2nd ARAM not SR, not ranked. They just casually do it

The most I could do is ping.
Vi having infinite mobility is her whole kit, meanwhile Gwen gets it as icing on top
as a juggernaut main, most matchups on top lane i just have to wait for my opponent to mess up royaly. to explain, when i lane into an akali or a camile, i do not dictate the fight. i have to wait for her to fight so i can retaliate. if i try to engage on her she can easy use her burst and dash away turning the lane into "well time to wait for her to use all her mobility agressively so i have a chance of killing her"

I'm an old stridebraker garen enthusiast
Personaly, i would add a knockdown effect to some of the old champion’s abilities. Kinda like when they added GW to Kled’s Q. Just make some CC abilities interrupt dashes and there you go, now the champions that are completely destroyed by dashes have a way to counter them. Zyra’s E for example, would be much more valuable if it worked like Ahri’s E.
I'm telling you, they need a Shen rework to counter mobility, as the protector he is.
He already counters a lot of those diving Champs already but you need to use your W well and your teammates have to stay inside it which is the main problem
as a sett morde vlad and twitch player I dont like how u can't kite or u get kited half the time due to infinite dashes
A single dash can be skill expressive. Having many dashes removes skill expression.
It feels like riot isn't thinking about how to make a well designed and balanced champion but instead are seeing what they can get away with
