Well done video thank you - Question- so by varying that voltage from the regulator, telling the alternating how much current to generate, does this allow the alternator to spin more freely when lower voltages are requested? Or in other words, does the alternator require more HP from the crankshaft to turn when outputting max voltage?

Yes. We have a 10HP electric motor for testing our rebuilt alternators so we can test max output in amps. We occasionally had problems with a 5HP slowing down too much when under full load.

So if I wanted to build a generator out of an alternator would I have to remove the voltage regulator and hook power up to the brushes like straight wired... also the electric magnet in the alternator would it be going north south north south or would it all be One Direction like North North North.. also 1 more question are both brushes positive or is one also ground like I have absolutely no idea or do they split the voltage like they both take 6 volts 2 equal 12 volts I don't know I'm still trying to figure out how it actually works in detail... so other than that great video and any help would be greatly appreciated

could u test a motor with a test light by useing a drill to see if any power coming out of it

I would like to ask if the output depend on the tourqe of the alternator or even at the low speed the output still the same?

Yes, amps output is directly related to RPM. But the good thing about our beefed up windings is they perform a lot better at lower RPM's.

The alternator output voltage is proportional the shaft speed and the armature (field) current. Since the speed of the alternator depends on the engine speed the alternator output is regulated by controlling the current supplied to the armature. The torque supplied to the alternator depends on the alternator speed and the alternator output current.
The torque goes up at low speeds and high apms.
