- This is Video #2 - Launching the Jetty. Built by Carl "Tinker" West in Highlands, NJ for Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling. If you were a fan of "The Howard Stern Show" while he was still on FM radio, you'll recall all the banter about The Jetty ... well, here's how it all started.
I laughed out loud when Jackie casually walked into view with a beer in his hand.
Greatest 47 minutes in the history of man....
Greater than the moon landing
Yeah at least this was real
@@jedsteelwell2354 Humans have landed on the Moon 6 times during the Apollo missions (1969-1972). A total of 12 astronauts have walked on the lunar surface. If you think that this is "Fake", you have been dulled by the ideas of limited losers who all fit a specific type. It's sad that something that SHOULD have made people smarter, has made them question things that people have collectively known for centuries.
Love the videos, seeing Jackie in his natural habitat.
Thank you, eternally, for posting this. I always, always, ALWAYS wondered what the jetty looked like.
Arthur “two jetties” Jackson
The whole time I thought Howard was just being an asshole, it really was just a piece of wood lmao
@@burdyo85 Jackie was living good there though!! Always cooking out chilling by the water with all the neighborhood drunkards
It's like knowing how the pyramids were built.
I'm guessing this is now Nancys Jetty.
they didn't have a "bad divorce" actually they still own land together and live next door to each other. i think it was more of a business split. as in, BOTH were now out of business.
Back when people didn’t stare at their phone and talked instead.
@@staunchlyspeaking Back when parents could stand outside getting drunk with children
🤣
And beach
I love how straight from the start the BBQ won't work and there's three of them trying to figure out what's wrong. It's so Jackie.
Jackie was truly a man of the people! I'd kill to have been his neighbor
He was like Hillbilly Jim
I love seeing these old videos of Jackie in his early 50’s.
LOL
It does validate how a gentle hippy Jackie was! This stupid jetty brought him so much joy
The incans, the mayans, the bayvillians
WOW I thought this was going to be a clip from the show of them goofing on him, but it is ACTUAL footage!! Thank you for this
He put that out there for anyone to use. Imagine that. If Howard had did this, there'd be a red rope around and you'd have to have at 15 IMDB credits before you'd be allowed on it.
mopenstein Hahaha
Kimmel doesn’t have that many movie credits. Howard is B list celebrity heaven
@@salvagemonster3612 IMDb doesn't only list movie credits
Are you okay?
A velvet rope! And don't move Gary's jacket.....
This video has become my happy place. God bless Jackie. Legend x10
I'd like to thank the Bayville Navy
West harbor marine 😂
And the air force
Gay Kwon Have you seen MEEEEEE
This was really cool to see. Thanks for sharing it
Thanks for the upload, my childhood radio memories finally have a face now.
that's how i felt... was the really fat guy Burf?
One things for sure Jackie was living a good life. Cooking out and partying all the time making good cash on the stern show! He should of just stayed! The show was never as good after he left.
How many times can they play Piano Man?
I hear Billy's voice in my head and I can't stop laughing .
Let’s get some crabssss bwahawhaw
Jackie loved this so much because he was King of the Shlubs!
The guy in the blue shirt and jeans was Bruce Springsteen's first manager.
This is amazing. Take me back
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR POSTING THIS. IT FILLS MY HEART!!
I imagine this video plays on loop when you Enter and Exit the Lobby & Gift Shop areas of The Bayville Musuem
Jackie spent 4 years in college to get a Mechanical Engineering Degree...and this is the best idea he came up with...brute force pushing the dock down the beach. I can think of dozens of ideas that would have made this much easier. It's a good thing nobody injured their back or crushed their foot.
Name one.
@@S7232S Hi Jackie.
They were kind of right with the log idea, they just should have had 2 or 3. That way, after it fully slid across one of the logs it could be brought back to the front to keep it moving.
The vikings used to use multiple logs to move their ships and would grease the bottom of it with fish guts. The oil from the fish innards would be like a lubricant to help it along the logs.
Could of used possibly some wheels and axles or hand carts on each corner and try to roll it, ornsome sort of ski in the front then slide over the sand.
This is funnier than Jackie's stand up......
tommy Prado Jackie as a person was funny and the only thing funny about his stand up was his absurd delivery
I saw Jackie twice and was crying both times. Then he signed an autograph
MAYDAY MAYDAY JETTY IS ON FIRE
I'm wishing for a Billy West voiceover.
Pure bliss watching this
Best video on RUclips
Was Piano Man on repeat the whole time? Hear it in the beginning of video and at 37 mins in
Many horrible radio stations today play Imagine Dragons songs every 10 minutes so might be just bad station programming like you have today.
the next song was Deacon Blues by Steely Dan, which fit perfectly
oh and they took a piece from the end of the video (after the jetty) and inserted it into the beginning.
They used to play Piano Man 24 hours a day publicly everywhere on Long Island. Any other music was Jackie’s.
That was the long island national anthem
Cold gold
Makes you old way before your TIMEEEEEE
A fun day at the beach pushing a bus without wheels.
This is so 90s I love it
Just like Howard said, there is barely any food at a Jackie party.
The food appears near the end shellfish etc.
you didnt see the 20 lobsters they put into the cooker, the corn, potatoes, salad on the table...
@@anduin1 that was more than 20 lobsters too they ain’t cheap
I always wondered what this looked like. Thanks for sharing.
Jackie looks like he has a good time. I love BBQ and beach looks great to me.
@@76_SPZL not in the end. he should not have quit.
The legendary Carl Tinker West!!!
19:51 I cannot believe hes got that shirt on. I was thinking thats what it was the whole time and they actually focus on it here. Its just that I lived right by that place and was in there a lot not long after this was filmed. No realpoint, but that just has a lot of meaning to me-what a small world
Best years of my radio listening
Miss you Jokeman
This is great, thanks for posting this! :-)
dude that house seems nice, wtf was Howard talkin bout
Dude a jetty is a long stretch of land, usually rocks or a dock. This is just a float or raft. Everything Jackie does is wrong.
killustrator
I think it was Robin that called it a jetty, and the name stuck.
keefriff99 yeah robin called it a jetty
And people say she contributes nothing.. BULLSHIT!!
we finally can put faces to all the names jackie drops throughout each and every one of his stories
How many Bayville residents does it take to launch a jetty? As many as it takes to screw in a lightbulb.
Where's the gas station parking lot Jackie reneged on turning into a park?
Haha was wondering same
Where’s Birf?
is the jetty still there? 18:37 you can hear the dudes back crack
Wow. U can!!
Haha
Omg nice pick up hahaha
Did the jokeman pay for everyone's hernia surgery?!
"Hey, you had a good time! Nobody told you you had to lift my jetty!"
This is reminding me of Jackie Vernon's old routine. "Here are some slides from my vacation....".
Real smart having a propane cooker right next to a wood shingle structure.
These people really had nothing better to do on Sunday, they truly are schlubs and Jackie is rightfully king of them
Got me thinking of Iwo Jima, when they are floating atop the jetty in dry clothes, holding beer.
it really is just a piece of wood, i'm dead 😅😅😅😅
OMG, Deacon Blues playing in the background @41:05. So Jackie
I was in Bayville last week, the Jetty is out there!
john Can you give us a grid coordinate on google earth?
“Nuttin’ like it.”-Jackie Martling
this is awesome
Classic Bill! He always had headlights.
who's Bill?
I can’t believe I just watched the whole thing.
I can't believe I never seen this. I always wondered what the hell this Damn jetty thing was exactly.
Turns out it is indeed just a giant piece of wood.
It's way more than "a piece of wood." I love Jackie!
That stainless steel outdoor steamer is cool.
What a cool group of fashionable guys!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
How many hicks does it take to drag a piece of wood into a lagoon?
Future Jew Overlord Exactly
“Launching the jetyyyyyyyyy”!!
When Jackie spoke, every one listens. All 100 of those "friends."
hey he keeps the beer flowing and the good times rolling, you listen to a community leader like that
Thanks for having this, as it puts a video to what was being talked about on Howard from about '97-'00. Would the footage here be '98 or '99?...Just a guess. I'd assume this is Bayville. Long live Jokeland, and the jetty.
+Chris Saenz there were more than one launchings, he'd do it every year. howard went to one as well. this looks like it's from the early '90s.
Definitely not '98 or '99.
+DJ Granny I remember them talking about the jetty in the early-to-mid 90s, calling it Jackie's "piece of wood."
DJ Granny this is definitely earlier then 2000. Either that or these guys and gals whipped out their wardrobes from 10 years earlier for the video. My guess is 1994
It looks like an awesome neighborhood.
Jackie Marlo
Jackie's paradise.
I wonder if bluwiess is their??
“It’s a dumb piece of wood”.
Howard Stern 😂
Jackie's bayville sweatpants basically sum him up as a person...
The Mayans , The Incans , The Bayvillians
Wonderful video
This is fucking fascinating. Not being sarcastic, I wish it was longer. Fucking Jackie lol
what a great piece of tape
the USS Beerlogged
"It's NOT a jetty! It's a dock! Get a dictionary!" - Jackie
"2 minute rest" Jackie Marlow
“I don’t care if it’s legal! I want WOOD!”
Just listened to that one earlier 😂 ❤️
Heeeeyyyyy
Love the Little Rascals music at the end!
Howard hated that Jackie enjoyed life this way. Enjoyment is something you create, not something you can find.
Luis Quintana Amparano I guess I hate this shit too
Or buy
THIS IS NOT "The Jetty" Stern bagged on... that one washed up on the shore and was 20 foot by 4... this one is 8 by 16 and was designed by the grey haired fellow...
So why did he call this a piece of drift wood? It’s pretty nice!
Didn't the jetty got washed out to sea during a storm or something?
Wow.... Cool video... I remember Jackie getting his balls busted regularly over the jetty. Hahaha. Funny shit
When the money was aplenty.
lobstaaaahhhh
2 minutes in and it's like Night of the Living Dead with the whole neighborhood walking to Jackie's and women screaming in the background
Jackie couldn’t figured out to lay down a few sheets of plywood before burying that thing in the sand
How many times did they listen to piano man that day?
Which one was Birf?
Where did you find this? Are you a Jackie insider? Spill the beans! :-)
+DJ Granny Jackie is a great friend. Another friend of mine built the jetty for him. This video is the initial delivery and launch. The jetty was built in Highlands NJ.
+Lynn Harold Tell him to go fuck himself
Lynn Harold Can you set me up with Nancy ciriani?
There's already a line of twenty and five ahead of you.
Blanket Jackson Oh, do I EVER see what you did there!
how is this not considered littering?
WHERE IS VIDEO #1???
39:30 "Oh Oh!"
Thank you sir haha
this looks like a good time to me ..Jackie was great on the show
Jokeland!
Awesome
Have a drink every time you hear a billy Joel song.
Ahh, the days of VHS camcorders and hours of recording nothing. 🤣
