if you didnt only discover the Waking Sands TP tickets until AFTER you completed ARR then you're not a true sprout.
my boyfriend had been playing this game for YEARS, where as i picked it up last year. i had just finished ARR, and he had lvled up another alt to play with me, and that is when i noticed the tickets and asked him about them. the look on his face said it all. all those years running. so much running XD
What about the ferry from limsa to basically right outside the waking sands? Didn’t find out about that until i was in stormblood
Found both the ferry and the ticket in my early arr just because i like clicking on everything
I'm good
Dude i found out like a week ago. I have 7k hours.... 😵
I feel like Elezen are rare because unlike in other games with pretty, elegant, Elfy-types, they have to compete with not only cat boys and girls, but also dragon and bunny boys and girls. You can't compete with that.
I think XIV is the only fantasy RPG where I actually like elves, because they're just so oversaturated everywhere else.
@@truesoprano2152 Elezen exhale elitism without too much high fantasy elements.
@@luiz8755 they are also technically part dragon.
@@luiz8755 This! I play Elizen to:
1. Be rare.
2. Look down on inferior races.
Elezen boi here: it’s a bit of superiority mixed with me having a long neck IRL so it’s only fitting.
What I love in ARR that is sorely missing from other expansions are the random interiors you can enter that are fully furnished and with NPCs milling about with actual dialogue. Someone took the time to create those little pockets of immersion that have no bearing on gameplay and are easily missed but when stumbled upon give a ton of life and depth to the world. I wish the other expansions were so lovingly done.
So YES! ARR IS MY FAVORITE!
ARR is my favorite as well. I really liked the story and the music and it's what got me hooked on the game. I actually dislike most of Heaven's Ward as it felt disjointed and kinda boring until the end when you got back to the ARR areas and the pre-Stormblood stuff.
I see you do not play Lala then. Both dwarven communities in Shadowbringers have houses only lala can get into, with dialogue and moving/interacting dwarves. Those homes also have lala sized furniture and the ONLY beds in the game you can /doze on and your character will lay down and sleep on. A special interaction and emote that only lalas get, and only lalas will ever see.
Heavensward has a lot of places you can wander into with lots of interactions and even npc's to click on that their dialogue changes depending on where you are in the storyline, and I don't just mean like Fortemps manor.
Shadowbringers has a few but not a whole lot sadly and I have found only a handful in Endwalker.
"Shout chat is a mating call for drama seekers" --Avy Catte Truer words have never been spoken.
Aurum Vale holds a special place in my heart. Back when I was WHM, totally forgot to do job quests so didnt have my regen spell, and managed to spam cure enough while freaking the hell out to make it through.
For me it pretty much reinforced my choice of maining Healer as the correct choice
Something that no FFXIV player would ever say:
"Yeah, none of those cutscenes ever made me cry."
I'm not crying!! YOU'RE CRYING!! 😢
I have a friend that has skipped 100% skippable cut scenes. The players exists..
"I was dismayed that the Crystal Exarch was , and I was glad that "
@@BalintNemessanyi Seek help, my friend. If you feel that way then you really need to seek help, and find your passion for life.
@@BalintNemessanyi Ok. In that case, carry on, and I hope you find something to be happy about.
As a female duskwight player. I get very excited to see another one. In my 1 year since playing I've only seen 5 or so.
Why?, they are far prettier than normal Elvaan!
o/
I have one alt, she is a Duskwight. Dark is gorgeous.
Duskwight here too, prettiest Elezen on entire Zodiark! ;3
i play duskwight too but i play with pale skin color, i like the cooler skin tone it makes :p
My alt is a duskie girl!! (And my main is a wildwood boy, I unironically love Elezen❤️❤️)
No offense to Lyse, but I think G’raha Tia is the best Npc his Ernest nature and the kindhearted energy is refreshing. The fact that we inspired him to do the impossible in order to save his hero and 2 shards from a calamity worse than the 7th. Also, he is an all-rounder in dungeons. Probably due to the eons he spent studying the Allagan’s knowledge, and he is resource. As his age and other limitations kept him from being able to do more than he wanted, he still did so much to advance the plot in many key areas. He even took down Elidibes trapping him in the tower. His character itself is worthy enough to be call a true epic hero on par with our own characters in FFXIV.
I love him so much, he is best boy
I honestly do like Lyse and her story. Her writing should've been better but I liked her journey of coming out of her shell and continuing the fight her sister was a part of. Rahban and Hien being her support as she does so I really like.
I remember....
-when she was actually fun pretending to be her dead sister
Yeah, I liked her a lot when she was Yda... and then it slowly morphed into "Who ARE you... and what have you done with my favorite girl?"
Not joking, I really enjoyed ARR and even the patch quests to get to Heavensward. Didnt skip cutscenes, read everything, and it felt very rewarding when I could see the progression of the story coming from a mile away. The pacing was slow, but I appreciated it very much as it really helped me immerse into the universe and lore of XIV, even small details in the world or NPC lines are really thought out in relation to the world if you look out for them! I took the habit of talking to both essential and nonessential NPCs during and between quests, the developers could've not cared and put nothing there, but they didnt. There's so much content and it shows how much love there is for the story, world and lore from the devs! I guess I'm also the exact target audience for a game like XIV as a self-proclaimed Whore For Lore, so my opinion isn't shared by many, but that's understandable.
I do this as well... talking to NPCs between the MSQ. Especially Estiniens lines during HW were so so funny. You miss them completely if you only talk to the main quest giver.
Same. I love small starts. Or it feels small in retrospect anyway, obviously killing a lesser deity at level 20 is a big deal for some stories haha
I have always been a quest reader, even when I played WoW. I also always talk to the NPCs around the questgiver before the questgiver. :) So much more context to everything!
While I wouldn't call ARR my favorite, I also don't get the dislike people have for it. I enjoyed it completely.
Why didn't you use the correct memory tool for Cerberus A - Always in the Belly, B - Be in the Belly, C - Can you hurry and get in the Belly. Definitely helped me when I was newer mmhmm
Trying to play healer, especially WHM, in Aurum Vale with a mentor tank is pure pain. For some reason, the few times I've had negative interactions with other players in FFXIV the other player has always been a mentor.
I had the misfortune of unlocking it while trying out healing, every other dungeon had gone so well I thought 'what could go wrong'
Everything. Everything went wrong. And now for some reason it's the only dungeon I get for leveling roulette.
I lvled AST during the last mog tome event going through Aurum and it was so easy I would see how long I could go without eating fruit for fun. Went through it recently as a WHM and it was SO HARD.
And yes the most toxic players always seem to pop up there. One tank got mad at me for asking him to slow down cause our sprout healer was getting overwhelmed. Shouted at me that's he's been pulling this dungeon wall to wall for 6 years and wasn't going to take advice from a spout then left. Funniest sh*t I ever read.
The last mentor I had an interaction with kicked me from NN.
Then proceeded to notice the dumbass had combat materia in his crafting gear, and had no acheivements for actual combat content (ex/savage).
These are the people giving advice to new players. The whole mentor system is a fucking joke.
I've noticed that Mentor tanks in that dungeon seem more toxic than most other mentors in any other content.
Like I had a Mentor Tank in WoD yesterday, they were great! Pulled their mobs with ranged attacks and Provoke, used their mitis like they were supposed to and were cracking jokes between pulls. Was a great time!
Had a Tank Mentor in Aurum Vale today who basically sprinted ahead of all of us and told the Sprout Healer to adjust or leave :/
@@MissLilianae sounds about right. Probs the same guy that rocks UpTo s rank hunts, tomahawks it once then goes afk.
Mentors are the most self entitled assholes this game has to offer, not all of them, just most of them.
Of all crystal tower parts is world of darkness my favorite. I love it when things get chaotic and very often they do in that part. Wipes on Angry Mango make me giggle like a maniac.
And Mentors... worst players I've seen were mentors, I think I'm allowed to say that, I've earned mentor crown myself and everytime I put it on, I involuntarily start playing worse than two day old newbies. Its kind of a curse.
re housing: don't forget...before that? it was...a complete free for all...with no waiting.
Something I have heard way too many times in WoW but never in FF14 is "Just shut up and play the game".
Thing no one said
“Machinist is the best job in the game”
I actually do like Lyse. (Spoilers) I think making her the leader of Ala Meigo wasn't the best for her character though. She would have been better as Rouban's right hand. Or left i guess. And to all the people who are surprised at how dumb she is sometimes, she's always been like that. She just had Papalimo keeping her in check all of the time. Now we're just seeing how she would have been through ARR if Papalimo wasn't there. Besides learning how to be a leader throughout Stormblood, she also had to learn how to keep her emotions and her implosive nature under control.
I always figured her "being dumb" was just her roleplaying as Yda, since she does a complete character 180 between post-ARR and when it comes out she's Lyse. While the other characters of the Scions "knew" she wasn't really Yda, she must have been acting close enough for people who weren't close enough to Yda to know the difference.
But once she "becomes" Lyse, she's far less airheaded than she was in 2.0, and her only real character flaw is her insecurity about leading the Ala Mhigan Resistance.
I miss Papalymo..bring him back..
Bit of a late reply, but I've noticed this misconception is pretty common - Lyse isn't actually the leader of Ala Mhigo. We see her frequently being the representative from Ala Mhigo that works with us/the Scions/the other city-states (the last one often alongside Raubahn). Since that position from the other city-states often is the actual leader, I do understand why people think she's higher up on the chain of command that she actually is (the actual leaders are an elected group of representatives, and so far we've not been introduced to them).
But really she's the leader of the Resistance, which essentially acts as a sort of branch of the military at this point, as well as seemingly a peacekeeping and rebuilding organization. Raubahn is the General of the Ala Mhigan army, and so technically is above her, and so she is actually a lot closer to being like his second in command, just not directly.
Also, amusingly, while keeping her impulsive nature under her control is part of her arc...she never actually manages to follow through on anything impulsive that makes things worse. She gets frustrated plenty, but pretty much every time someone is there to prevent her from doing anything rash, until she's able to control it on her own. Extra amusing is that Alisaie is the one that does lose her composure, during the Ananta stuff. Both twins, in fact, have more of a track record overall of making things worse than Lyse, lol.
@@Beredaman08 True, but that's all post Stormblood MSQ stuff. I made that comment right after beating Stormblood.
1:00 - There's one group that likes Aurum Vale: Blue Mages. With the right BLU party, you can absolutely decimate AV. And it's usually included in the Tomestone events (though not this time, weirdly), so it becomes the go-to grind spot for Blues.
TBF with the right optimization BLUs can wreck everything up. AV was more like a really over studied case of it
I was kinda looking forward to this event this time because I only really learned the run in the last event. On other hand I can understand if they never put it on the Moogle event ever again as it was reeeally over abused
I love to be the tank in that one an do the death skip.
I love the aurum vale it was my first warcraft-esque dungeon and it was the easiest so far so no I haven't had issues like some claim
Blue Mages can pretty much decimate anything
I'm literally planning. 20+ minute video on why Lyse is great and should be adored.
So how will you make a 20 min video about the one time I had a "training fight" with her ontop of the statue?
“I will respect the healer because they hold my life in their hands.”
I will say the Metalic Dye is super pretty for wedding attire. My wedding dress I did the Brass dye (it's prettier than the gold fight me) and my wife did the Metalic Red. We were getting married in September so we did the fall themed colours for the flowers and decorations, and our Free Company had just decorated the house for Halloween, so our "wedding photos" are all fall trees and stuff outside and spooky cute themed from inside.
As a regular venue bun Ill just say that metallic dyes are super popular in the clubbing scene! I dont think Id ever combine metallic orange and green like in the video though, that does look terrible.
@@DranCh My FC uses our FC chest to store mats so we can make gear sets every 10 levels for our sprout members.
That way they can focus on leveling and the story without having to worry about gearing too. Whenever I make a gear set for a new member for the first time I ask their two favorite colors and dye the gear those colors as best I can to make it look good.
One of our newcomers told me Orange and Green the other day. Was an interesting mix for those two...
I love the pearl white dye, or the metallic purple. I use those a fair bit for my glams unless using the plum purple or some other shade of purple. My toon is pretty much on a purple theme as both myself and my boyfriend (whom I met in game, and who’s my in game husband) really love purple. We’re both viera with purple details in our hair. My hair in game is some light purple with darker purple ends so I tend to match my outfits to my hair color wise
I've done some interesting things with metallic red and metallic yellow.
The metallic orange...no I can't make that work.
Metallic Blue and Metallic Sky Blue can also be good, but I've found it requires that the item you're dyeing only have a portion of it be changed so there's enough going on with the piece that the dye is only a part of the overall color, or is heavily dependent on the material of the item being dyed. Also mixing with other items in darker colors to offset it, rather than using the dye on everything.
"Female Roes and Highlanders are the best female characters EVER!"
Seriously, everyone wants a badass female character, but only if she's small and dainty. I can count on one hand the times I've seen a female Roegadyn player and even less a female Highlander.
It's like everyone loves the idea of an Amazon Warrior Woman until they realize they really CAN physically crush you.
I loved my female Highlander until I found out everyone thinks Highlander women are ugly LOL I think mine is pretty though, and she has a scholarly vibe I think it's a bit unusual for Highlander. Now my love for her is rebounding especially since I never seen anyone that look quite like her and she might be kinda original, not even in screenshots online.
"I like how well this cute glam fits my femroe." - Former femroe main who changed to bunny when I couldn't handle the wide shoulders and thick wrists ruining every cute dress.
"I have such a wide selection of headwear. I can't decide what to put on my viera!" - *cries in invisible Matoya hat* ....... *wipes tears after installing a mod*
Playing as a Viera turned me into a glasses connoseur. :p
I don't know if you knew this, but Thancred is voiced by Taliesin from Critical Role.
In ARR
I agree I generally like the voices more, but part of me misses some of the old ones too xD
Now I know why I had a slight crush on Thancred in ARR. 🥺
Makes me miss Merlwyb's ARR voice as well.
Just started Stb and I've gotten used to all the new voices except for Thancred. I liked his ARR voice better 😅😅
Another Critical Role voice in ARR is Alphinaud, voiced by Sam Rigel
Yeah, I actually still prefer Meryweb's original voice, and I actually liked Alphinaud's too
The big problem I see with Lyse is that she just randomly became the second main character of Stormblood without any explanation or fanfare. I know she was in the cinematic, but it was just a bit jarring that she suddenly was given this huge importance to the story seemingly out of nowhere.
Nr. 1 thing to never say in FF14:
"Just skip the story its not that important!"
auto clickers... the "not only did you lose your house to me but I also emptied out your in game bank account" days. some smart but evil people found ways to use auto clickers for darkness by setting up personal vendors and being able to phase them just enough into the wall to bypass the plaque and have the auto clicker to click on it. then sell nothing but trash for ridiculous prices. I think the largest I saw was someone lost about 130 million gil from it which was all the gil they had on their character.
Aurum vale and Dzamael Darkhold is where i discovered 90% of my tanks don’t use mitigation :D i’m crying on the inside everytime i get that for levelling.
Still doesn’t stop me from dragging my friend over into those dungeons when they first learn healing tho
Yea Dhezmel can be hit or miss depending on party skill development.
I've had some horrible groups for Sunken Temple also.
Hate those dungeons with a passion! Especially if I’m running with random people (the dungeons are fine with FC because all of us know the dungeons) and especially if the tank is a DRK that doesn’t know what they’re doing, or a WAR for that matter (they’re the two tanks I really don’t like when I run SGE or WHM) as they too can go down like a lead balloon unless they know what they’re doing. I just see so many people in AV just run right through the piss puddles and so many tanks that just aggro the entire first room (not just once, but sometimes both two or three times) before finally sticking to the sides and working their way through the first area. Absolute nightmare and while I don’t like tanking or DPSing in there, it’s most definitely a healers worst nightmare 95% of the time
@@ReyOfLight i love how it’s always a DRK or WAR 😭😂 worse is if they refuse to eat the fruit or use mitigation. one tank stacked the debuff to SIX and i was running out of mana healing him at the first boss already. the audacity to say “i was lazy to eat the fruit :3” at the end.
@@VampguyN85 oh no, it got worst the last few days. recently i have tanks that just aggro the entire mob wave in sunken temple and wipe the team too. guess they are on a farm run and were impatient so they wanted to get mobs clear asap
@@eclairia404 DRK or WAR are seriously the worst thanks unless the player is very competent at tanking. For me at least, GNB is the easiest to heal, followed by PLD. I also play GNB myself if I tank (do have DRK at 50 as well so not like I haven’t tried it) and I’m really not good at tanking but on GNB, I’ve even tanked the first ShB dungeon and only died once in there because I messed up on one AoE on the first or second boss. I was totally terrified in there but the combination of being GNB along with having a good healer (and my boyfriend on team as well, think on MNK) really saved it.
Lmao glam plates....man that part of the reason I quit playing was getting to expencive with all my retainers and stuff filled with glams.
"Jeeese, im so happx that Viera and hrothgar couldn't wear hats."
"Ist great, isnt it? I never have them displayed either, helmets are ungly as hell."
"How kind of Yoshi to help us out here, that he takes it from us to manually deselect the option."
Honestly the biggest issue with Aurum Vale is that it syncs you to 49, which is right before you get your level 50 capstone abilities. I feel like it would be a lot better with those extra abilities available to players. Whm gets benediction, ast gets synastry, the shield healers get bubbles... but most importantly all the tanks would have their invulns instead of just war.
So much yes! Not to mention so many less competent tanks just running through there as if it’s a regular dungeon and then wondering why the team wipes several times… Like hint: don’t run through puddles and don’t multi pull the first area! Healers have very limited resources in there because of the level cap and tanks are still meh themselves unless VERY skilled at tanking so they’re able to work around the skill issues from the level cap
I love how even the Chocobo looked up as if it was saying "The hell did you say?".
"I don't need to go to the Gold Saucer; I've got plenty of content out here so I don't even need to unlock it!"
I don't know any conversation on XIV that doesn't somewhere, somehow, include the Gold Saucer. We even have call outs for Air Force One, Leap of Faith, and Cliffhangers and on top of that, we remind each other each week to do our weeklies.
"I love penta melding, especially when I lose 96 materia and still fail"
The inventory comment I felt on a spiritual level
Edit: I lied that wow one I felt. As a wow refugee myself I'll throw a gnashing fang combo so fast in someone's face if that was said
On Lyse:
*****SPOILERS Below*****
Gigakawa (Natsuko Ishikawa, the lead writer of Shadowbringers & Endwalker), wrote the Doma half of the Stormblood story. It's no coincidence that Lyse's best moments (punting the Namazu, the heart-to-heart with Hien in the jail cell, Etc.) all happened in the eastern half of the Stormblood story.
Banri Oda, the writer of the Ala Mhigo side is a great lore builder, but I don't think it's out of line to say Ishikawa is just better at getting to the heart of the characters. I often wonder what Stormblood and, by extension Lyse would have been like had Ishikawa been lead writer the way she was for Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
That said, Banri Oda did create one of my favorite characters in all of FFXIV: Zenos.
Ishikawa found a way to get to the humanity of Zenos--that lonely, depressed guy that was just desperate to feel something, ANYTHING. The one that fixated on you because battling with the WoL was the only time he really felt alive.
As long as Gigakawa is the lead writer, I wouldn't mind seeing Lyse come back into the story again.
"A for belly, B for belly and C for belly", yes, this needs to be repeated until most have gotten it.
If you played 1.0, then ARR was a great expansion because it fixed so much. I feel the glam and inventory though so very very much.
FFXIV players will never say: "game is perfect as it is, I hope they don't do any more expansions."
Looking at the Aurum Vale and Crystal Tower raids. The other thing most FFXIV players don't say is, "I like a challenge."
And no, the Crystal Tower series, like Eden, Omega, Coils of Bahamut, are not required for the story. They're a side story. You don't have to do them at all.
Funny enough Aurum Vale is actually my favourite dungeon lol as for who hurt me. The moogles and their tomes :]
"no one likes aurum vale. if it's your favourite dungeon... who hurt you?" LMAO
Elezen issues don't stop at the neck. Their heads are also too small for their bodies. Small head on a long neck makes both issues look even dumber.
I have my mentor crown and started wearing it after this terrible streak of running with mentors that were just...horrible. One mentor tank in Orbonne pulled Agrias and dragged her all over the room chasing the DPS trying to slaughter the raid. Wipe 1 he claimed his mouse came unplugged, apologized and the raid grumbled and we started again, him being told by everyone NOT to pull, to turn off his tank stance and let another tank handle it. Well...the pull happened his tank stance came on and he slaughtered the raid again until his healers stopped healing him and his warrior mits couldn't keep him going. We still wiped, and then learned we had to not run in, because he kept pulling trying to prevent a vote to kick. He was reported, everyone even stood around and helped newer players walking them through how to report the guy, new tank came in and the raid was fine but yeah. "You're a MENTOR and you're not doing mechanics, telling new players not to do mechanics and acting like a nightmare to everyone" seems to be a standard thing I see in Duty Finder runs. There should be a system in place to remove mentor crowns from players and ban them from having them if they get reported for toxic behavior and SE finds out they did garbage like that.
I feel alone in that I've never felt like elezen necks are too long. Perhaps I'm biased because I myself have a long neck irl, or perhaps it's the higher collars I use for most of my glams.
In the olden days getting a house was the easiest. I'm not talking about the random timer. I'm talking about BEFORE THAT. When a house was demolished and you could just walk up to it and buy it. That was and will always be the best system because the house goes to the person who practiced running there quickly. There was no random luck aspect where you spent hours clicking and some asshole would come by 2 minutes before the house becomes available and gets it. Random timer was introduced because of house flippers. Of course, that didn't do anything to stop house flippers just like the lottery doesn't stop them. It just makes it terrible for real players
As much as I love Sam Riegel as well... you are correct about Alphinaud's voice... though while I like new Thancred I do miss Taliesin voicing him
"I want more sleeping dragons and deadly cliffs in Pagos. Also it's too easy to get to the place to convert your kettle light, I want it more hidden and further away from the teleport crystal"
"i want more requirements for flying; like a 4 week rep grindwall gated behind 2 patches after launch so that we can truly appreciate the zones"
You must be an ex-WoW player :P
i unironically love Aurum Vale >< i find the challenge of the dungeon, the easy to wipe layout of it to be a good training spot for classes on a early stage. plus i like to collect the morbol seedlings to give to new players and friends :3
if you play mmorpg it's nothing it's just another boring dungeon. I play mmorpg till my memory remember and Aurum Vale provide nothing. dung 16-50 have only value for players who are new to this genre
Same
i would say Aurum Vale is the first place you can really try how good healer are you as a sprout :D
@@kmeanxneth agreed! (Though I know you werent replying to me lol) First time I ran through I was complimented ;v; and it meant a lot to me at the time since I had to play through terrible lag
I just love tanks pulling with gap closer. It makes the dungeon/raid go so fast, that I forget all my frustration about uptime. Bonus points for not equipping their job stones.
I got in a dungeon tonight and hit level 30 in the dungeon ... and then the healer started yelling at me for not having my job stone on... I was like really? I leveled up in the dungoen, should I have left to go get it?
Sis is spot on especially with Aurum.
I might be the one crazy person around here, but I'm not hoarding glamour items.
Doesn't mean I'm not optimizing things now and then, but once I'm settled on who a character is and how to best represent that, I'm settled. Job done, mission accomplished.
My gunbreaker just needs the idealized bodyguard's armor to get some pants and boots in a different shade of black, my redmage is donning that one early game suit since forever - and my wow rogue has only ever changed his gloves once since mid-cataclysm.
Yes, I also wear the same kind of clothes everyday myself.
I got one, "Man I love crafting and gathering, especially making HQ gear for the first time is so much fun and not painful at all"
The day they expanded glam dresser from 400 to 800 was the day two of my retainers went from holding glam to holding crafting mats and other 2 are still holding glam. Just expand it to 10000 if possible and youre fine until next expansion. Also healing is better in WoW. Im sorry SE is still holding onto their raid fight design. More raid aoes should cause bleeding or windburst statuses like abyssos. Now abyssos was fun to heal.
As someone with more refined taste, I respectfully disagree with your opinion on Elezen.
Still great video ☺️
There's 2 cases were Aurum Vale is awful.
1. running AV with AI Companions - they will literally aggro the entire first room and die
2. Running with an inexperienced healer - I was doing Tank and trying me best, and the healer was an inexperienced WHM. They were basically just fishing for Free Cures, with an occasional Medica but didn't use Regen, or Cure II.
I did try to explain, but I'm not sure how much went through due to the language barrier; we didn't make it past the first boss, and it's the first dungeon I ever abandoned in over 2000 hours.
Aurum Vale is unironically like my favorite dungeon and I don't know who hurt me.
ffxiv did elezens so dirty you can make elves so beautiful in every other game but ffxiv just really did them dirty. i played an duskwight elezen when i was new and i still love them but i WILL be honest. some gear just doesn't look cute on elezen's bodies. so many clothes that look cute on literally ANYONE else look weird on their bodies. I had to SELECTIVELY choose what i glammed on my girl because she deserves to look slay despite what square enix did to her.
For Elezen, it’s less the necks and more the dainty running animation. If you want truly ugly elves, look up Dragon Age 2’s.
Honestly, wipes to Ancient Flare or the occasional Curtain Call have been more common than anything Cerberus related this year for me.
Ancient Flare is by far my runs' biggest killer, because half of the party gets greedy and the other half nopes out, so there isn't enough DPS to power through the cast.
It's kind of funny, but mostly it's just irritating.
I haven't wiped on World of Darkness in quite a while. Though the worst run I've *ever* had in WoD was when we wiped three times...on the first pull. Not boss.
Pull.
The one thing no FFXIV player has ever said: "I LOVE Aurum Vale. I hope I get it in my roulette today!"
When I heard Aurum Whale I thought, "New mount?"
Okay… every once in a blue moon, I break out the metallic dyes. Fight me I guess 😂
2:42 Woah there
After farming tombstones in aurum vale I feel like it made me more patient for that duty their could be more worse things in my opinion now lol
Almost choked with Minfilia's "plot" hanging over the text.
For Aurum Vale, it's only the first big room that's annoying, it's okay after that. I remember just doing the whole letting the morbol seedlings pop for that extra bit of EXP.
As for housing.. I remember the old days before that, where as soon as the plot was given up, someone could immediately buy it. They tried to address this by putting in the older system referenced in the video, and also added the.. "migration system"? Where you had priority on buying a plot if you owned a plot.
I've never heard anyone say "Kan-e Senna is interesting" or "Merlwyb is not a hot dommy mommy"
things never said "the 100 sidequests to TRULY finish ARR patch content was GOOD"
“I am a white mage and i never use glare”
Liked for knowing the REAL Cerberus strat!
Ha ha. I love Metallic Sky and regular Blue shades, especially on skirts or boots/gloves, when I'm not using Metallic Silver. XD
Aurum Vale mostly sucks cause of the first room, otherwise while it's not the fun it's mediocre-ly okay, doing it for blue mage spells is also ok if you can unsync it.
I like Lyse as a character, she's fine, her writing could have been better but it's not that bad.
ARR isn't that bad, it's the build up to everything else after. Story wise I got interested after Titan in ARR, I liked it before that but after it it got more. Yeah.
Im elezen player and i dont think elezens low popularity is because the necks, i think its their other body part sizes, elezens being so weirdly slim but incredibly tall in some places make a lot of glamour look pretty bad and its pretty hard come up with good glamours, meanwhile au'ras and miqo'tes look good in almost everything, you can make smaller races look cute, badass and beautiful pretty easily, but making elezen look cute or badass is actually pretty big challenge IMO, its not impossible, just hard.
Also they still have not fixed elezen running/sprinting animation, personally i have love&hate relationship with it, i dont mind it most of the time but sometimes when i see vieras or au'ras running animation i get quite jealous
PS. Elezen is the best Mommy race of XIV and im not ashamed to admit that i like it
"Where's were the heals ?!? "when you get 2-shot is not a sentence to say in FFXIV xD🤣
The only one I slightly disagree with is the Elezen. Could their necks be slightly shorter? Absolutely, but gods I find the female faces SO pretty.
I think the community's general dislike of them is a big reason they're one of the only Elf races I've ever liked. lol
Normally Elf races are defined by being perfected Humans. They're more attractive, agile, taller, stronger, better with bows, better at crafting, better at smithing, better at magic, immortal or close to it, etc... it's really just the Mary Sue of races 99% of the time and that makes me hate them.
I ended up playing elezen and have never wanted to swap. I was hesitant to choose it at first exactly because I didn't want to fall into the "perfect and better than humans" stereotype (I didn't realize they were so underplayed when I made my character) but when I was designing characters, I ended up making an elezen I really liked, who looked pretty, but also friendly and down to earth and I just loved her and stuck with her ever since. Everyone mentions the necks, but I didn't notice it before others mentioned it (I've tried to avoid staring at my character's neck since then for fear of ruining it for myself). It's just weird, and also like for 80% of the part of the fanbase that simps over male npcs, they are either either obsessing over a male elezen, or a villain.
I'm chaotic evil because having seen how the new housing system works I am much happier I got mine on the old system where there wasn't a personal house area and fc only area since they are not well balanced atm. Also I haven't even used all of the first page of my inventory...
I do actually use the metallic dark blue, and sometimes light blue, fairly regularly. They're good at making some outfits look like they're made out of satin or silk, or making some of the metal bits look like metal instead of printed plastic. 'Course, it doesn't work for everything, nothing does. But yeah, definitely not orange or green. And certainly not the red. That one is so terrible on almost everything. Hurray for ruby red when you need that vibrant red for red mage outfits.
For me Minfilia was my least favorite NPC running ARR as she suffered from the writers telling us how powerful she was instead of showing us.
Uh I'm an outlier cause my inventory is actually very clean and just about empty cause I only keep what I need on me and on my chocobo. The rest like extra glamor gear or weps are on the retainers.
I wish I could be like that. I'm a chaotic crafter. 😭
@@avycatte XD same but I sell all the mats back once I'm done with them since they lose value after every major patch or the market overflows since I'm on Balmung.
You missed mentioning the corollary to FFXIV players being over protective of what is said about the game. I think even more so, everyone is protective of what is said about Yoshi-P. In fact, now that I think of it, it is probably easy to miss in a list like this because it simply never happens. I don't know of any game director who is more highly regarded.
100% agree on AV. I hate it. I have been learning to play Sage as my 3rd healer and I rolled AV, and felt somewhat useless. But we were off to a rough start right from the start. The tank stayed left as the frog stayed farther right, and I hit kardia first before following so I lagged behind just a tad. Just long enough for the giant toad to patrol over after the was past and aggro me with his tongue yanking me into a new cluster of aggro that I brought over to the tank after he engaged 2 clusters already. So we were overwhelmed and wiped within the first 30 seconds of the start. And Sge had nothing to help offset that really. I did my best to spam. But I feel it fails harder are lower dungeons then the others when you get the equivelant of lotus charges early on and your cooldowns and click abilities at higher levels. Reversing it from whm is the problem. You don't have the base of abilities below 50 like the others and have to wait for time to pass on the charges.
Only thing vets like about AV is blue farming moogle tomes.
More than half (read: "almost all of") my alts are female Elezen and every single one is adorable. Without exception. Have the screenshots to prove it and everything.
"Ah, yes! Praetorium! This is exactly what I wanted!!"
I have not really played ff14 but I am guessing just based on the attack the belly for Cerberus is because of some sort of tail swipe and frontal cone/cleave.
I'm held hostage by my first ever glam for each class...
I ran the Miqo'te base set all the way through ARR, then at the start of HW I decided "Lets change things up each expansion." I made a nice light blood red and gold armor with tight leather pants...
And I have been stuck with that since. Even as I am level 90 and hesitating about stepping into the world of savage. I just can't find a better glam for my paladin.
Same thing with Red mage, only replace the armor with the really nice jacket you get from Tataru at the post HW(?) dyed dalamud red.
My white mage is just "Whatever, but pink."
Like seriously I get way to attached to my glams to ever change them for long...
Elezen are amazing tho! With right glam and hairstyle they can be pretty good-looking.
I honestly feel so envious of the people that have played this game since it came out. I really tried to get into it, but getting through the 400h of story just to get to the endgame is something I cannot afford. I did try it I finished the ARR storyline after maybe 100 hours and when I realized that I had to complete 80 more endgame quests just to get to Heavensward I gave up. Maybe I will come back again but damn that pacing...
The story is one of the best parts about the game, it only gets better and better
The story itself is around 130-200 hours in it’s entirety. No idea how you didn’t get to atleast Stormblood or atleast post Heavensward but it happens I suppose. I do hope you can enjoy the game eventually
@@warrxnt I was about to say, even back when I first started in 2020, I got through all of ARR, including post-ARR and started HW (before the Crystal Tower raid was a requirement) in well under 100 hours. I was even still on my 1st free 30 days of subscription. Took a break because the friend I was playing with stopped playing after the 30 days was up, they didn't want to pay a monthly sub. Just picked it up again this year, and wanted to re-do ARR because it had been nearly 2 years and I needed a refresher on the story so far, so I made an alt and started on my way. Then I had a dumb/awesome idea for another alt so I ran 2 alts through ARR, in its entirety, in less than 100 hours combined. My first alt has even become my main now as I'm well beyond my original character's progress at this point.
you don't "get through the story" to play Endgame. Endgame is a treat you get while you wait for more story.
@@jencendiary yeah, Endgame is just for waiting for more story XD
I literally first started healing in that dungeon and everyone kept pulling agro. I didn't have enough fast aoe to keep everyone alive longer than 3 minutes. This gave me ptsd for healing.
In the olden olden days, we just walked up to the placard, clicked it and won. First come first serve \o/
Anyone remember pre ShB Aurum Vale? That shit was traumatic.
That elezen bit BROKE me LMAO
The 2.0-5.X variants of Cutter's Cry, Dzamael Darkhold, and Aurum Vale are what I used to call the "Death Row" of ARR/leveling content...
Those are where Sprouts go to die, and veterans go to watch sprouts die as they level a new job (and then die themselves (presumably while cackling in delight but screaming at the mobs (maybe that's just me))).
PS - C for "Chains", B for "Belly", A for "aKill it".
The selkie is adorable in the intro! Love it.
I luv aurum vale. Always have. Exp is amazing there if you don’t kill the sprouts before they hatch. “Oh look the tank hates exp”
I’m in the camp that thinks Aurum Vale isn’t that bad. Pharos Sirius on the other hand can burn.
it's fine to skip dialogues and even cinematics. In fact just go ahead and buy a story skip on the mogstation because the story isn't worth following.
Inventory cleaning stream, when? 😜
There's no such thing as a clean inventory. Not in this household. 😭😭
lol i only wear metalic colors. Specifically orange, red, green, blue and purple
Hiya @AvyCatte what is your glam info on the tank top and gloves and skirt I can’t seem to find it anywhere?
It's Hempen Camise and Virtu Orison Fingerless Gloves!
Things ff14 will never say "I can't play this game without mods.. don't know how to do the fights without them"
>.> I don't appreciate being called out for my inventory. ...Or my five retainers...
