I would take the bulk head out completely if you're sleeping in the van. Just gives you the option of getting in the front and driving away from any potential dangers without having to get out the van.
Had my first trip out over the weekend, it has crossed my mind already. Currently, doors locked and squeeze past through the passenger seat.
@@BikepackingAdventures love to see windows in this van please do more videos of this van
I had an ex-Royal Mail 7 seater crew cab, long wheelbase, high top LDV Convoy van for several years and used it for Audax rides and camping trips. I put a raised double bed in the back with storage underneath, and another double bed above the back seats that my daughters used to sleep on. I used foil coated bubble wrap type insulation and vapour barrier combined under plywood lining that I screwed to the frame of the van with self tapping screws. I never got round to insulating the inside of the fibreglass roof, so once I had to put my sleeping bag inside another one when it was -4 before a chilly 300km!
Looking forward to some great adventures in the back of a van, I think it will be a nice compliment to bikepacking as not always having to start so far from home.
I love the way you just dive in and tip your hat at adventure Rich - good luck with this latest stage in all of that!
Thanks Rob, yeah just give it a bash and see what it becomes!
interesting idea. It does mean you can go anywhere and not have to worry about accommodation
With costs rising all the time it means I can either save or spend that money on other things. =)
Hello mate - really like the conversion! Given me a lot of ideas, cheers!
I've recently bought the same Doblo as yours and am having a hard time getting the bulkhead out. How did you get it out in the end? Thank you
Yeah it was difficult. Me and my Dad took the bottom half out last Winter - it took ages. I finally removed the top half a few weeks ago - I paid the garage to remove it. So much more practical with it gone. Am so so with conversion, I didn't wanna spend a lot. If money was no object I would have paid someone to furnish over the top layer.
@@BikepackingAdventures I'm glad you managed to get it sorted in the end! Did you drill out the rivets? I've managed to get a couple out but some of them won't budge! Not sure if I need better drill bits or if there's a better way. Cheers!
How do you get oxygen when sleeping back there? I've got same van only the bulkhead is fully closed and i can't open that up by law where im at... Now I'm don't really want to us it as a camper but every now and then it could be handy to trow an air mattress in the back and sleep there. But im afraid there is no good way to get fresh air in
That's the Worse most Cowboy Insulation i have ever seen.
But i doubt i could do any better lol
Thanks! It's holding up so far - but yeah might get someone to do a better job later in in year once Summer has past.
It's got a CD player!!!!!!!
I know right so retro!
@@BikepackingAdventures I was waiting for the Buck Rogers - Feeder track to kick in :D
Is this your only vehicle now?
Yup, the car went to the graveyard.
