So sorry for Michael's loss. Hope the good memories remain in the love she shared with you ❤♥❤♥ Congrats on your new land. And I could watch birds and butterflies for hours :)
Hi April and Michael! Greetings from the Central Valley, California. I just discovered your channel over the weekend and just finished watching all of your vlogs. Love everything about your channel, but I must say, one of the things I enjoy most is your kind heart for animals, even the creepy crawly kind. 💕 I've subscribed and am looking forward to your future videos. Thank you for sharing your journey so that we can live vicariously!
Love this video beautiful peaceful video reminding me to slow down and appreciate all that nature has to offer❤ can't wait to see the development of your new land.
Congratulations on adding to your property! It will make a lovely addition to your yard to have the extra space. I don't feed birds because I have cats. Pretty clever bird feeder though.
Bonne idée - The new land allows you to (eventually) build a south-facing glass conservatory which will extend enjoying the outdoors in the spring & fall without completely losing your back garden. Unfortunately, the rat will still be scooping up the bits of birdfeed which fall to the ground. C'est dommage et c'est la vie.
Glass conservatory! Great idea. We thought of a small pool. Or garage. Not sure at this point. For now, we just like the idea of trimming the trees to improve our view. :)
In the front yard of my first house I had a tree just like yours. I was told it was a Japanese orchid tree, hence the beautiful tiny clusters of orchid like flowers. It would bloom every summer in the month of July where I lived for about a week or two then green for the rest of the summer and fall. It was so lovely. I hope you are successful with your purchase as I'm sure the project of transforming it will be a fun one.
That will be a lovely plot of land to make into a garden, perhaps grow more and have a nice greenhouse? That driveway would be able to give you a carport/ garage. What was that purple type tree? I always give seeds in the summer and fat balls in the winter when more calories are needed. The rat will eat what's left on the ground!😄 Sorry to hear your stepmum has passed. The butterfly is what we call a red admiral in the UK ❤
Need a heavy long handled axe :) Great news on that extra bit of land. A new veg plot , yeayy lol you could leave the other patch as just fruit tree land ?
Yeah, I thought about that and then just bought a second wedge. I only swing that heavy sledge about eight or ten times and then I just walk away for a bit. Don't want to work too hard. Ha! We'll likely plant more fruit tree across the street and use the new plot to expand our current garden. Not sure. For now we can cut the trees back a bit and improve our view. Thanks for watching!
as a former landscaper l see a lot of work . to much for me . Next week l drive to the Perigord with my van and a motorcycle in the back and if l find a little townhouse maybee in Limeul or somewhere there l start to think about buying . l rather prefer a garage than a garden . your birdfeeding thing is genius 👍 The tree is called Catalpa fargesii or trumpettree . the butterfly at the end was somehow unbelievable
I too have done my fair share of landscaping (as a job). And I see several new tools in my future…😁 I too am hopeful for a garage. Someday or I just might build one. Yes, the butterfly was such a blessing on a hard day. Thanks for watching. Good luck in you search. 😁
That’s a lovely plot of land , but please don’t keep calling it a yard it’s a garden and it will be lovely garden when you both finish it👍 I’m English and yards are for builders and timber😂 not for pretty French gardens which you have. Stay safe and have fun with the new plot. 🫶from the Uk🙏🏻
With the land survey. In France it seems all bordering properties must sign the survey to make borders agreed/ legal. And be aware of a shared chemin( the entry path from road to far back areas may mean a right of way for others across your property. All of that should be investigated by the notaire. And if a well or water source is on that land there may be granted access to others. Awhile back I read ( translated) french property law on the govt website. Hope your purchase is successful!
While helping birds in winter is a good idea, I personally don't think it's useful in summer except in extreme cases. They need to stay wild and able to feed themselves. But I understand your mindset, I like to feed them when it's cold but I refrain from doing so when spring comes around!
You can use your iPhone, or android to take a picture of the tree, then press the information button and it will give you what you need to know about the tree.
Please de not feed the birds in the summer , they have plenty of food and the young ones have to learn to feed themselves . Those grease balls are especially to keep them warm in the cold days I only help the wild birds in the cold winter months .

Thank you
The more you chase a butterfly the more it will allude you. If you sit back and admire it;s beauty it will come and sit softly on your shoulder...
They just came over and landed on my hand. It was wonderful... :)

Glad you enjoyed it... Thanks again! :)
Nice video. You are good stewards of your land and the wildlife there.
Not sure about that... Ha! The birds are getting FAT! Ha! :)
The tree is called a catalpa, my grandmother had two giant ones and I used to make cancan kickers out of the flower with frilly edges
Intesting. It smells great! We love it.
That lovely tree is a catalpa , it can get to be 90+ feet and live 60 years.
It is such a nice tree. We love it

Thanks! We're hoping to to at least improve our view...maybe more. Time will tell! Thanks for watching.

It’s definitely transforming. Slowly. Yes, we love the tree, it’s beautiful.

The tree is also known as an Indian bean tree.
Thanks!

We hope so also. The notaire did go through all of the requirements. We finalize the purchase in the next few weeks. Hopefully it goes smooth... :)

Yes, we spoil them... likely not a good thing.
34 cents!

We always forget about the feature. Thanks for the reminder.

Ooops...too late. They are well fed. :) We will try and keep them fed in the winter as well.
