  • I take the new JCB 3cx Pro Backhoe and try it out on a small groundworks project from start to finish.
    Will its versatility make up for its shortcomings?
    Would I have been better off with an 8 ton 360 excavator?

    Hi ollie, I’m new here and i like your vids.I also run a 3cx in my business I’d be lost with out it! It’s really nice to see other people using a 3cx in their business, they definitely still have their place in my opinion even though they can be awkward or unstable at times. Keep up the good work and content my friend.

    Nice work ollie. I think you're videos will encourage more people to use the jcb backhoe on jobs.

      Thanks. They won’t suit everyone, and I was concerned it wouldn’t suit my business fully, but the more I use it, the more useful it’s becoming

    Nice little job Ollie. I agree - a Backhoe can be tight and awkward at times but I wouldn't be without mine and I find it works very well for most of my jobs. A very useful piece of equipment to have. Maybe a few more patents are needed with a Backhoe than an excavator?

    Sound video Ollie, glad you're getting to grips with clamming up. I think the big bonus with the backhoe loader over the midi diggers when on sitr is loading lorries. I doubt theres many 8t 360's that can fill a 8 wheeler in 4 minutes.

    Great work mate, how much does that machine use in an average day?

    • @Olliegunns
      @Olliegunns  8 месяцев назад

      I think it averages out to around 40l/ day. If you do a big road journey then it will use more, and around site its a bit more economical, but a "combined" figure if you will seems to be around the 40L mark over 9 hours.

    Enjoyed this upload,
    Personally I prefer the style of this videos where you show more of the project rather than focus on the machinery.

    Never could get on with JCB 3cx though it's probably 30yrs since I've been in one. Had a Kubota bout 2cx size a long time ago did the job but it's always a 360 excavator f me I can do far more and easier. But guess we all have our preferences

    Interesting video as ever Ollie, how much easier would those footings have been with a tilty on the Jake, obviously another big investment but would it work.?

    • @Olliegunns
      @Olliegunns  Год назад +1

      Well funny you should ask, I have been thinking the same myself. The concerns I have with one are weight and build height screwing up what is a very well honed digging geometry. And initial prices for one were nearly 30k with one bucket!!!! 😮

      They’re very popular in Sweden with tiltrotators mounted on them of course, but usually on a Huddig or Lännen Backhoe, which are a bit bigger.

    I fink when get the hang of your backhoe like you drive your 8026 I fink you will find it quicker than any 7 to 8 ton 360 I learnt to drive backhoe first the a 360 but I love backhoe

      Practice makes perfect with these things, it will come to me I’m sure, like with the tiltrotator, it’s knowing all the tricks that help speed it up

    Far btr, , easier with a slew? Personally feel 3cx diggers are dated,

    • @Olliegunns
      @Olliegunns  9 месяцев назад +1

      Easier yes, but it would want a dumper with it. Thats two machines you're running. And the forks on the 3cx are so handy as the site progresses. It also saves me transport costs. Its not the ideal machine for every job but I can make it work for most of my work.

      @@Olliegunns Totally agree with that!! This is what people don't realise, an excavator would need a dumper, two machines and transport on top, pushing up the cost.
