A JATCO CVT is in this car. That CVT is the most reviled transmission in Automotive History, probably only matched by the Getrag 4 speed of the mid 80s. That alone kills this unit right off the bat for me.

Nice review. I feel like the style is too “safe” compared to what Nissan has done in recent years. Something like this should have more “style” in my opinion.
I test drove one of these AT Maus Nissan in New Port Richey Florida and LOVED it! I took the same route for the test drive as you did. I also drove the Rouge Sport and full size Rouge. I have a very hard time dealing with a CVT but the one in the Kicks was the best of the three. I haven't finished my research so do not know witch CVT is in each of the three I drove, it could be the same for all I know. I drive like an old lady so the Kicks had enough "kick" for me. The base stereo was the best of the three but I was NOT impressed by the Bose in the SR trim. I did have the windows down and it was inside the showroom so I couldn't really test it good. The Rouge sport was ok but I HATED the Rouge. Since this is about the kicks though, than back to it. I was a bit concerned about KBB stating that the kicks had a JITTERY ride that was taxing on the highway. I did not get to drive the kicks on the highway but the quick time I drove it, didn't seem to notice anything too bad about the ride. Wind and road noise seemed normal for a vehicle in this class/price range. My BIGGEST complaint however was the SUSSPENSION NOISE! I thought it was HORRIBLE. Overall ride, handling was decent. Acceleration for me was adequate but for most moron drivers here, it probable wont be. I HATE cvt's but thought the one in the Kicks was OK with the less "rubbery feel" probable due to the vehicles lower weight. I also liked the low 2000 rpms at 70mph. The 8" touch screen in the dash instead of sticking out the top like an after thought, I loved. My big thing with vehicles is there reliability, that's what I study. My BIGGEST concern about the Kicks, as well as ALL Nissan products with the CVT is that they are made by JACTO, witch is KNOW for HORRIBLE CVT's for performance AND especially in RELIABILITY! They have been improving in performance but it is still too soon to know if they have improved in reliability. The performance of the one in the Rouge was HOORENDOUS! HOW Nissan sells so many of those is a mystery. You THINK your in a much more substantial vehicle because of it's larger size of course but also by its plush interior. Driving it however was terrible. The CVT was so bad I didn't even finish me test drive. Overall I really liked the Kicks, I just worry about the Jatco CVT. Still, the CVT in it DID perform rather well and may be worth the shot. You do get 5 year 60,000 miles warranty on it. I only drive 8-10k miles a year so for me might be worth the risk. After 5 years I will probable want another vehicle anyway. I think the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was just as good, with the more than likely SAME Jacto CVT. The Outlander Sport comes with a stronger 148hp 2.0ltr engine. It is all mostly a product of Japan and you get 5/60 bumper to bumper and 10/100 powertrain! It is similarly priced as the Kicks. Predicted reliability is not better or worse than the Kicks. The interior of the Outlander Sport is not as nice as the Kicks, and well, Down right cheap and flimsy as heck! The only drawback when comparing to the Kicks. Otherwise the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is DEFINITLY the one to choose! It looks even better than the Kicks, has more power with even an optional 2.4 with 168 horse. You can even get an awesome Rockford Fosgate audio system in the outlander. I don't understand the dismal reviews and ratings on the Outlander Sport, it is just as good as the Kicks. One last thing, on the Kicks SR I looked at with an MSRP over 28k, you would THINK it would have a POWER driver seat! It is not even available at all! Ridiculous!
I actually like it, if it had a bettter powertrain. If it had like the Fiat 1.3T engine and 9-speed automatic for example, 180hp, I'd really entertain buying one.
I drive this as a company car. Pretty solid. Is it worth it? Any known problems with it that people have encountered with it? Are the CVT transmissions as bad they say in these?
Thankfully this looks better. The other model years looked cheap in and out. So different than the rogue sport which looked well made. This one is better.
A little bit tight for tall people might be not the right option, I’m 6,5 with my teenager daughter behind me was not good fit. Anyway trunk space is good for a car of that size, reliable car i did not face any issue during 3 years long, comfortable for the city and an ok car for the road. My wife is short, so for her it’s awesome. The option of 360 cam for park is awesome, but sometimes it can make u little bit lazy.
It's a transmission that uses a variable pulley system instead of gears. It is constantly changing the transmission ratio to deliver optimal acceleration and better fuel economy. The downsides are reliability, loud noise (because they often hold engines near redline under hard acceleration), and they don't handle lots of power well.
I bought a 2021 Nissan kicks s the day before Thanksgiving so far so good I can't complain great on gas I think it looks good my first new cat ordered some weathertech floor mats

What is a cvt transmission?
continuously variable transmission
It's a transmission that uses a variable pulley system instead of gears. It is constantly changing the transmission ratio to deliver optimal acceleration and better fuel economy. The downsides are reliability, loud noise (because they often hold engines near redline under hard acceleration), and they don't handle lots of power well.
A transmission that has no gears but uses a variable pulley system with belts.
