- Are you looking for a trek that will challenge you and reward you with stunning views of the Himalayas? Look no further than the Deoriatal Chandrashila trek.
Recently, our Chalein Trekking team members Dushyant Sharma and Shrirang Pujari took on this trek and completed the trek, DIY style, in just 3 days.
Despite encountering challenging weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme cold at night, Dushyant and Shrirang had an unforgettable experience exploring the forests and witnessing the blooming rhododendrons. But the highlight of their trek was undoubtedly reaching the summit of Chandrashila.
Standing at the top, they were rewarded with crystal clear views of the Himalayan range, and they were the only ones there to take it all in. The feeling of accomplishment and awe is something that can't be described in words.
Indiahikes highly recommends the Deoriatal Chandrashila trek for those seeking stunning mountain views. This trek offers a rare vantage point from which to see some of the most magnificent views of the Indian Himalayas. The summit of Chandrashila offers a panoramic view of the Gangotri range, Mt Thalaysagar, the Kedarnath and Kedar dome, Mandani Parbat, Janhukut, and the imposing Chaukhamba. On the right, trekkers can see the Gauri Parbat, Hathi Parbat, Dunagiri, and India's tallest mountain, Mt Nanda Devi, along with Mt Nanda Ghunti and Mt Trishul etched against the skyline. The trek is especially beautiful in the spring when the trail is lined with oak and rhododendron trees in full bloom.
The Deoriatal lake is also a highlight of the trek, surrounded by a green meadow with the majestic Mt Chaukhamba towering over it. Camping at the Baniya Kund campsite, nestled in dense forests, is another delightful experience.
However, the real thrill of the trek lies in the climb from Chopta to the Chandrashila summit. The adventure of scaling the summit is an experience trekkers never forget, with some even breaking down in tears upon reaching the top.

Perhaps THE finest video I’ve seen at YT. Wonderful content (the forest scenario has been missed by most other vloggers), beautiful and straightforward narrative, nice camerawork, and no wasting of footage on unnecessary/avoidable details. Thank you. Subscribed.
so glad you liked it!
@@Indiahikesdo we need a guide from deoriatal lake to chopta trek ? Are the forest trails marked for solo travellers?
@@nikitapandey6812 i recently completed this trek a couple days ago. We had a guide along, but most of the trail is clear and distinct enough. If not a guide, you'll always find another group and maybe you can tag along. But we probably can trail through without a guide as well. Its a beautiful trail. Enjoy!

Hi Purva, March -Mid-April is the best time to visit the rhododendrons.
Yes, since this was DIY trek our team did, they did it in three days. For our trekkers the itinerary is 4 days of trekking and first and last days are travel days. You can check for more details on our trek page - indiahikes.com/deoriatal-chandrashila-trek

I just did this trek through IndiaHikes 2 weeks back and it was a wonderful experience. However, the weather in this video is much nicer than what we faced 😅. Curious, when was this video taken (month)? What is a good time of the year when there’s less chance of rains and more clear skies available?

For staying which one do you prefer Swiss camps or hotels in saari village if someone will visit in April Month ?
Hi Drishti, if you are trekking with Indiahikes, you will stay at our own basecamp at Sari which has Swiss tents. If you are trekking on your own, there are many homestay in Sari. You can choose to stay there.

Pl recommend minimum fitness needed to trek this particular trek?
I want to do it...but 5 km running is not possible for mw
Hi Nikhil, the fitness criteria for Deoriatal Chandrashila trek is you should be comfortably able to run 5 km under 38 minutes.
If you are not able to run 5 km as of now, it's okay. Start by brisk walking and jogging initially and slowly increase your pace to reach the target. You can also refer to this video for the guidance on how to prepare - ruclips.net/video/ujR8ISZADz4/видео.html
Is it possible to do 1 day trek from Chandrashila campsite to Chopta in March 2nd week? I see that Indiahikes does this trek over 2 days now.
Beautiful video! Could you please tell me which time this year would be suitable to see the fully bloomed rhododendrons on this trek?
Hi Ananya, to witness the rhododendrons in full bloom, time your trek around Mid March to the end of March.

Which month you did this trek ...can u share the date.....which is the best time to do the trek....
Hi Alok, this was done in February.
The best time to do the trek depends on what do you want in a trek. If you want to experience snow, winter is the best time. To experience blooming rhododendrons, spring is the best time. For clear mountain views, Autumn is the best time.

Bhai solo Trek ke liye jangli janwaro ka koi khatara toh nahin hai Na
I am 65 years young (😂.).
I am mobile, walk 5 km daily in 1 hour.... can I do this Trek 😊
Hi,
Happy to know that you are consistent with your preparation. For all our trekkers above the age of 50 we suggest brisk walking. If you can cover 5 km in 45 mins and also do a 10 km long walk once a week it would help you in doing the Deoriatal Chandrashila trek comfortably.
