I understand why Square being available without an internet connection is desirable for some, but what if, when you DO get an internet connection and the card someone gave you is declined. Now they have your product and their money?? Or am I missing something?
You're correct. That is the risk you take with any sort of offline processing mode -- any declined transactions when you reconnect to internet are your own loss. Now admittedly some industries are more at risk than others. And you can offset some of that risk by only accepting offline transactions from previous customers or collecting their data to contact them if the transaction fails.

I have a question that I need for you to help me with my business is run as a small based business that I do at home. I am a vendor that sells jewelry. And I want to make sure when I do do events that have to do with vending I want a system that's fast and easy for my client which one should I use PayPal or Square. And does both services transaction go through my bank account if so when I do get these services can I in the meantime use my personal bank account until I get a business bank account
Hey Enid, I use both paypal here and square, both with bluetooth readers. Square is much faster processing payments. Paypal has to refresh the app every time I unlock my phone. Once the customer signs and clicks done paypal takes a few seconds to complete the transaction then the customer chooses how to get the receipt. With square once you put the chip card in the reader it gets approved very quickly 95% of the time, return the card, have them sign and a receipt option pops up right away. No waiting to have the transaction approved after they sign. Also the square app doesn't have to refresh everytime I unlock the phone. I'm using a moto z3 play running android pie with 4 gigs of ram. So it's a fairly current phone with the latest android version available. Square is my main processor and paypal is my back up.
Hi, Enid! I'm happy to answer your questions. Both PayPal and Square link to your personal bank account, so you don't need to worry about getting a business account to set up with either. However, Square also offers the Square Card, which is a business card that gives you access to all of your funds faster and helps you keep everything separate. We really like Square for it's ease of use, readers, and all of the features you can access in your dashboard. Check out our full review www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-review/ Hope this helps and best of luck growing your jewelry business!

Hi Frank ! Thank you for your questions ! If you want to send a brief overview, requesting a review to service@merchantmaverick.com, I'll be sure to get it to our editorial team.
The one thing I can't stand about PayPal is they will hold your money for 1 month if you make over 3k in 1 day. It happened to me once whe I was at a event and sold over 3k in 2 days. Didnt get my money fir a month and I had been using PayPal for over 2 yrs. Does Square do this??
Square and PayPal are very similar in that they are both third-party processors. The frustrating thing is that it isn't always possible to predict when a hold might occur. You can safely assume that a higher amount may require a hold (especially for a newer business or a business that fluctuates with volume). Both companies do reserve the right to hold funds, unfortunately. The good news is that as your business grows, they will have more data to show your financials are somewhat predictable and hopefully, holds will become less of a thing for you. Best of luck!

Hi, Rene! You absolutely do not need both to be a success with your business. Because Square now offers a lot more tools for eCommerce and in-person sales, and it also integrates with Weebly, Square is probably your best choice. Now with Square's new Square Online Checkout, you can place a button in an email, your site, any web page, or a text without a full integration to your site as well. Here is information about the Square Online Checkout feature if you are curious, and best of luck! www.merchantmaverick.com/square-online-checkout-explained/
Warning: Paypal freezes your account for more than a week. On Feb. 16 I tried to buy bitoin on paypal. They set my account to "account limitation" (froze the account). They wanted 3 documents, bank statement, i.d. etc which I provided. Then on Feb. 22 they wanted my social security number. Today is Feb. 24 and my account is still frozen. Beware that paypal's system is very inefficient and will tie up your money for days.
Unfortunately account issues like freezing can be triggered with both of these solutions. Bitcoin likely triggered the account for a higher risk transaction, but it isn't always clear. Here is our guide that may help you protect yourself in the future: www.merchantmaverick.com/avoid-merchant-account-holds-freezes-terminations/ We hope your funds are released to you soon and best of luck!
@@MerchantMaverick Still, Paypal is very inefficient. This issue should be brought to the customer's attention earlier. Paypal offers no clear information about necessary documentation or requirements. I have been using Paypal since 2018 but will now use Square. Joe and Duke many many reasons! it’s the safest to pay, as it’s not only two factor authenticated with biometrics, but also uses tokens that change every time. Your card number isn’t even used, so if someone managed intercept the number it’d be a token that can only be used once. 2 Younger people are trying to ditch physical wallets all together as they can easily be stolen and used, whereas an iPhone can’t even be unlocked by the FBI. 3 It’s much faster when it’s set up right. I’m looking to sell art prints, buttons, stickers and such online and in the future in person so should I go with both Square and Paypal? Plus I want to use my own website to sell my stuff (I use Weebly). For my website should I use PayPal or Square?
Thank you for your help
Merchant Maverick thank you! I’ll take a look at that
Can we use square space with a savings account?
Hi, Mar! For Standard Next-Day Transfers you can link any bank account. Instant and same-day transfers require a debit card. Hope this helps!
People need to know there are better run wallets than Paypal.
@@daylightmoon7285 Our editorial staff tends to agree with you that Square is much easier to navigate and find help in the community when you need it. Best of luck!
@@MerchantMaverick Thank you
Square must have paid you for this, I need you liking and commenting primarily on the square comments.

If you don’t take Apple Pay, you’re not a real business
Why? I just got the square terminal and will accept apple pay but wonder why apple pay is so important?
Joe and Duke many many reasons! it’s the safest to pay, as it’s not only two factor authenticated with biometrics, but also uses tokens that change every time. Your card number isn’t even used, so if someone managed intercept the number it’d be a token that can only be used once. 2 Younger people are trying to ditch physical wallets all together as they can easily be stolen and used, whereas an iPhone can’t even be unlocked by the FBI. 3 It’s much faster when it’s set up right. Just tap your phone on the terminal and walk away. Don’t even need a PIN, because your phone already authenticates you with FaceID. It’s truly the future.
How do paypal bill? Percentage taken off Each transaction or 1 bill at the end of month for multiple transactions? Thanks
