It's funny how I have never had any problems with paypal as a buyer for years of using their service, as soon as I started selling in 2019 that's when they limited my account permanently and tried to keep my money. They thought I was going to be an easy target, but after they ignored my demand letter I went through the process of suing them. Long story short, paypal ended up giving me my money back because they knew I was going to win the case I had against them and they knew their accusation on me which was doing something "illegal" was a made up lie to pocket my money and would've gotten them into trouble. They've decided to give me my money that they tried to keep.
Are the problems only for sellers that dont get the money the buyer paid? Or the buyers also lose money while linking their credit/debit card to their paypal account?

Don't use paypal especially if you are starting a small business. They claim everything is suspicious and freeze your account. This could prevent your business from getting off the ground. If you are a contractor or someone recieving a one time payment, use another service, they will claim it's suspicious and take your money
They started to slow the transfer process from 24 hours to 72 hours for me. Currently, I'm using Venmo with no issues but still researching other Merchant accounts.

I demanded them to reply to me with an email stating the exact policy I broke and the exact reason why they limited my account and I added if they fail to do so in 24hrs I'd proceed legally from my side. they generally reply to the mail with the reason they have. if they reply with a stupid reason such as "we fear you might do some illegal stuff in the future" that's when you know you got em. they're just trying to hold your Money off. you got to reply with a mail giving valid proof of you being legit and adding to the proof a statement that verification to your account should be processed within 48hrs. if not "legal action from my side". they'll immediately reinstate your account in no time. if they chose not to you can sue them by consulting an advocate. it's clearly a winning case so PayPal would come for a settlement. you can get paid more as a relief and pay that to the advocate. I would've done that but they reinstated my account within 18hrs of my mail. remember if you feel like you don't know what you're doing reply here and I'll be more than happy to help
This video is really timely because I've been hearing lots of complaints on social media regarding PayPal lately. Some account holders have lost thousands of dollars and the PayPal management seemed inept in solving the countless complaints they encounter in their accounts. Some had already resorted to filing cases against PayPal. These increasing problems with account holders should have been quickly resolved had the management of PayPal is taking the necessary steps to deal with the many different concerns seriously.
sue them in small claims court. Paypal for example is NOT a bank, they are a payment remitter, NO right to hold your money more than 10 days in most states. Also report them to your state attorney general with online forms, also file with atty general that paypal has main offices (theres several). dont bother talkin too paypal more than one or 2 times to establish you tried to work it out in case it actually does go to court. Almost always Paypal gives your $ back as soon as they get the lawsuit papers.
@@marykayfulton3120 this fraud comes in many forms. Lottery wins, unclaimed bank deposits, job opportunities at Coca-Cola, Ford car and many ,even marriage proposals. Here in Australia they just pass the blame onto your Bank, even if your Bank states that PayPal is the issue, PayPal customer service will deny it and just send you back to your bank. As a long time PayPal user, I've finally terminated my account.
1 once bought stuff from alibaba or whatever that is the chinese website.. i paid the seller but the seller did not send me anything and then he cut communications, refusing to pay me back or sending me the item.. I sent email to paypal or made a complaint in paypal website and got my money back from paypal, who in my understanding took it back from the scammer seller, he was unable to prove that he sent me anything so i think paypal fixed the issue for me in just a few days. I never had a bad experience with them..
Good video and channel my man, I'm building an online business right now and my needs definitely require an API to provide a custom experience - and I want to have back end processes perform transactions for monthly subscriptions, etc. So definitely will be moving toward a merchant account - now just the approval process, one bank refused to even look at my application because it's online and no credit card present. I hope this won't be a huge hurdle as I've been been writing code and preparing for launch for over a year and still need this missing puzzle piece (I have already coded using a third party transaction handler API and they require the merchant account details to go into production)
Thanks Matt. Glad you're enjoying the videos. What type of business are you in? What products or services do you sell? @matt my team and I are also launching an online business and I’m always looking to recruit. If you are interested we can set up a zoom meeting. As a professional webdeveloper that has integration with paypal and payment processing, just been ripped off with a refund which I have lost because of the fees as mentioned in this video - I will have nothing to do with PayPal again!
As a webdeveloper, may I ask what payment processing should I use in my website apart from Paypal? At the moment, I'm not able to receive payments because I always get a Paypal error that reads "We’re sorry . Things don’t appear to be working at the moment." What should I do?
Yeah lol. I mean people are complaining of holding periods. We're not using bitcoin lol. They need to be able to reverse the transaction if somethings faulty. I think this guy and all the other comments aren't familiar with the inefficiencies of the other methods which are far greater than those of PayPal.

I need help!! I just transferred money from my bank to my paypal wallet because I purchased something online. My question is was that necessary? And will I have negative funds in my bank account? And after I sent the money to my paypal wallet does that mean it will automatically deduct the amount that I “payed” with Paypal online?
I’m thinking about work as a freelance writer because there are thousands of people looking for jobs. The problem is getting another job happens before quitting the one I have because stores and restaurants hire people who have jobs, not those who need one. As for the freelancer thing, to get paid, I have to use my bank account, so it can deposit my money directly to my bank account. Another problem with that is the chance of folks stealing my money. Even with false checks and scams.
Something is very funny about online buying these days. When I tried to buy some item on the website, for some reason, in the payment section, their payment system kept rejecting any credit cards due to the wrong security code, etc. Although I knew the credit was working and everything was correct, the website would keep rejecting any credit payment until I switched to "Paypal" as a form of payment. So I wonder whether it is Paypal's tactics to gain the customer or the website somehow prefer PayPal over Visa and Master card payment?
The thing that I don't understand is: when I sum up all the purchase that I made is, for example, $650, but my balance is $2040! does that mean I pay that much interest? interest rate shows %9. Could you please help me to understand that or how to read my statement. also, I did purchase and merchant refund me quickly but that effect my minimum monthly payment. it shows PayPal charge me double. they say that goes to my balance but anyhow that increased my minimum payment twice without my request.
As a freelance artist, Paypal is something I use often for ease of use and cause of the low-level transactions. I also get commissioned to do more NSFW art like sword fights with orcs, so I'm unsure what the policies are for the more mature oriented products. What would you recommend for an artist who works and gets paid exclusively online?
Hi and thank you for the video. I have been running my business for nearly 7 years now and have used paypal simply because I thought it was the only option at first. Although, I have never liked it for all the reasons you've mentioned and more. I recently added stripe to our website and surprisingly the majority of customers choose the stripe payment option over paypal. Whilst, I prefer stripe over paypal; I am still not 100% satisfied. What I do not like about stripe is; that the payouts are bunched up; which makes it hard to monitor and follow precisely who's made payment. I.e. lets say 5 individuals pay $10 for an item; stripe will sent a total of approx $50 to my account; instead of separate individual payments - makes it extremely hard to follow transactions and the payer/item paid for is unnamed. Are there any merchants account you recommend as the answer to my concerns? Thank you in advance.
Thanks for watching. I have a recommendation for you that will address this question so go here and schedule a call with me: www.brianmanning.co/call Looking forward to talking . Thanks. -Brian
Very informative content, thank you very much for your videos. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use for online art commissions, any warnings, or tips I should know? I’m pretty new to doing art commissions, making transactions, and get paid online. I’m not a very popular artist, I was suggested to do commissions I was doing commissions and I want to earn some money. I still want to do art commissions though, but as I said, I’m really new to all of this. This is my first time. I’ve asked around and been told that PayPal is really good but I want to ask other people for suggestions on what payment method I could use. I want a method that’s easy to use and safe.
Thank you for this video. A lot of merchant accounts will freeze your money too such as stripe and square. Anyone have suggestions on non corrupted merchant accounts?
I got immediately limited after donating to a friend in the Phillipines as an art commission. They suggested to show them my ID/license or wait about 6 months. Right when I did, they closed my account because apparently "you haven't used your account for the past 2 years". Absolute b.s. Now I can't donate to my friends since Twitch Streamlabs only allows PayPal. Ugh.

I quit certain marketplaces that now forcing sellers to use PayPal. I've had more than 2000 USD being on hold for weeks even after customers received their package. I always include tracking. The fees getting more and more. I don't like they side with buyers more and that a buyer can simply say they are not happy they get their money back.
Today we removed PayPal from our store, over a year of perfect transactions and 10s of thousands of pounds through them and just out blue this week have frozen several thousand pounds for no reason, asked for ID sent ID, then asked to sign new paperwork again on who Director is, same as year ago and sent that, days on and non stop calling them and twice having phone cut off on me I don't have that money!!! Never use them again!!
Did you add something to your sales roster thats a little different to what you started with? Something as silly as that can cause this to happen. But i also wonder if its just random.
If you're a merchant outside the US, Paypal will no longer allow you to deal in USD. If you want to withdraw your money it will only withdraw in in CAD.
My PayPal rant: Paypal won't let me verify my account since I moved to another country and I cannot open a new account because I only have a phone number from the previous country. How is that supposed to work in the digital era? With the supposed 'open EU borders'.. My husband checks all their stupid boxes (phone number, bank account and address from same country) but they're refusing to verify his account even though he provided everything they asked for. They didn't even respond to his request 😐 I was thinking of starting out with print on demand at redbubble, but in the EU, only PayPal is allowed. So, yeah, not sure what to do.. Flee to the US or UK? 😅
I have about $3 on my paypal yes its not that big of a deal but ,i just keep my paypal untouch for about 3 months. And when i try to login again it says "Something went wrong etcetc" even when i tried the 'Fogotten Password' button it will still says ' something went wrong, So,i really dont know what the heck happen,i cant login, they wont allow me to create a new PASSWORD Almost seems like both my gmail and passwrd expired. But,cmon can that really Happen?CAN THEY??

You said it right. There is no better aggregator or a payment processor so easy to set up and receive payments for a small business other than PayPal. PayPal has issues but is there any alternative to it operating worldwide? All the alternatives to PayPal, such as Stripe, Square ... etc., do not operate in many countries and have their limitations unlike PayPal.
Yea, people comment about that sort of thing all the time. Sorry to hear. I'd you're USA based and need a merchant account solution, reach out to us. I'll help you if I can. Www.bancardsales.com/call/Brian
PayPal sent us an email saying they need some info for my business. There were 15 questions and the amount of info they need is insane! Some are considered business confidentiality. Therefore we decided to stop using Paypal straightaway. We currently use square and stripe which are working fine in Australia.
Can you explain why the PayPal balance isn't right? For example, if your current balance is $100 and you made a sale and your net amount after fees is $23.50 your balance isn't $123.50 after the transaction goes through. It shows up as a random amount. Sometimes it's higher and sometimes it's lower. It seems totally random without reason. I don't understand it and there's nothing on the internet to explain why this is so.

I wished I knew about all these before my hard-earned money is placed on hold for reasons that are different depending on the agent you are talking to. And you'll never get to speak to a real person. You wait for days for a reply that's useless. Currently living in this nightmare with no end in sight.
It's annoying when you buy something online using PayPal and the payment goes into a pending status because there was an error with the transaction, and you have to wait weeks to get the payment refunded.
Nobody ever says because their aren't many options. I heard someone say use your local bank for a merchant account. I'm going to have to look into that.
PayPal can lock you're account for anything and hold you're money for 1yr... You have to take PayPal to court to get you're money back, once PayPal gets a court summons they give you're money back....

Yeah. I’ve been with them for years and I just got limitations on my account. I can’t play with them im going to open up another merchant. It takes them too long to review. They have a hold on a $400 trans I sent to a friend. I’ve got to go to another merchant. I don’t have a relationship with but. I got to remove PayPal.
I was a Merchant using PayPal for Years selling on eBay...Then a Customer lied and said they didn't receive the product I always provide a Tracking Number... Paypal automatically Refunded the Customer ,Ok Fine but they Froze My Bank Account while they were investigating the issue 🤦. ..and of course their Customer Service Sucks, basically None Existing ....My account was Froze for over 30 days and they returned the Refunded Money to my account. .... because the Customer had a History of buying on eBay and getting Refunds, Fraudulent Activity....Now I only use PayPal to Purchase Items,I don't use it as a form of Payment.
My transfer of money from PayPal is virtually instant without cost. I rarely have frozen funds on PayPal, if I do, the time is short. As of today, on cancelled orders all my fees are credited.
They ruled a case in buyers favor which made us stop using them. We provided video evidence of the delivery and they fully refunded the scammer. They also scammed us of the transaction fee + case fee. We lost the production costs on top of this. Never in my life been so humiliated as a business owner. They don’t care about your policy, reason why under them, you will be an employee.
Gosh! We just got into the same bs couple days ago. Provided all the evidence of the deliverance of the service, wrote everything in detail, wasted time and energy and they just sided with the buyer and gave a full refund!! This is so unfair. It seemed like they didn’t even look into the evidence we provided
I have been trying to send money to a friend from the other side of the world and is telling me"" we can't make this transaction due to regulations". This has never happened before and is annoying me like seriously?
Yep facts we should also warn people who do not know about it. I just realised some of the 5 star reviews on playstore were bots or their own employees

I just sold something for 200 dollars, and they are holding my money until December 30, wtf is that.

sue them in small claims court. Paypal for example is NOT a bank, they
are a payment remitter, NO right to hold your money more than 10 days in
most states. Also report them to your state attorney general with
online forms, also file with atty general that paypal has main offices
(theres several). dont bother talkin too paypal more than one or 2 times
to establish you tried to work it out in case it actually does go to
court. Almost always Paypal gives your $ back as soon as they get the
lawsuit papers.
I receive emails and texts saying I received a deposit. Then 2 minutes later, I'm hacked or breached. I'm not doing anything anymore.

PayPal customer service is a crap. Impossible to reach them by phone, despite having an account. Possibly the worst of the worst in the USA.
Same as in the U.K
Some merchant account processors are going to have more rigid underwriting guidelines than others.

Yeah I don't think I want to use anything that would arbitrarily allow $2500 to be pulled from my account.
I have changed from Paypal for my website to Square only 1.75% Have found they had large commission.
I wanna know the same

Yo did you ever get a update?

Try Wise. It is a bit different than a merchant account, more like an easy bank transfer and you receive your money within a day.
So...if I occasionally use PayPal to buy a few items, like DVDs, books, or to pay a subscription to an online club,is it OK? Let me know! thanks!
They also limit accounts for no reason. Also I got refunded on my debit card and it will take a month to get that money back.
Ugh.
