Totally agree, I am also 5' 6" and 29er was just not going to work at all. I ride a 2018 Yeti SB5 and love the bike, I just upgraded the rear shock and front fork to "lunch ride" the bike.

Nice! How much travel does it have now?

MTB Trail Magic - 160mm in the front, the rear is now a DPX2 instead of the stock DPS.

I don't know much about Fox shocks, I assume it's more supple, piggyback etc etc. How much does the 160mm fork slacken the front, half a degree? I had a Trance with 140mm fork and upgraded it to 160mm Pike. Made the ride way better on the downs, but the ups weren't so flash.

MTB Trail Magic - Yup, spot on. Rear has a piggyback and front is going from a 34 to a 36 and going from 150mm to 160mm. I suck at climbing anyway so I’m good with it.

I don't get how people can buy a new bike each year. My only guess is they are getting a huge deal and selling it for close to cost.

IDK. I guess some people spend thousands a year on booze and cigarettes, others save that money and upgrade bikes? Personally, I can't do either.

Discount from new bike/frame and selling the previous years can put you at break even point. And even if you're paying more, you're basically renting a bike for minimal cost. For regular trail riders it's pointless, but for racers who are a lot harder on their parts, having a freshie every season means less issues during race season when a working bike is key.

Love the video. What size handle bar do you use?

Your mate should demo the new Yeti SB165 or the SB140

I’m chomping at the bit to try a SB140! But my general rule of thumb is don’t test ride a bike unless your prepared to buy it haha - will get through this race season on the SB6 for now

How tall are you? Thanks for the vid. I'm 163cm and have been "sucked in" by my 26" DH bike on drops before! So you can see why I sold my 29" sentinel. Do you feel that a 29" wheel is more tolerable on a 120ish cm trail bike vs big travel bike?
I appreciated your comparison of the sb6(which I got after the sentinel) and the sb150 in terms of handling/agility. Both frames have almost identical travel, so did you notice any improvement of rock garden/big hit/plow ability of the newer sb150 over the older sb6? Thanks.

Hi Ron, I’m 5ft6 and about 72kg. I’ve recently converted my bike to a mullet (there’s a video released few weeks ago) and found the 29inch wheel amazing on the front. My XC 100mm hard tail is 29er and wouldn’t want anything less for that type of riding but for my more intense descending/racing on the SB69er I still love having the 27.5 rear wheel, super playful with short chain stays with added rolling speed up front.

One thing I noticed on sizing is my current (older) SB6 small frame fits me like a glove but the new SB130/150 they changed the geo and the small felt slightly cramped and the medium felt slightly too long. I’m right on that awkward cross over height between sizes

@@yeti_riderjamie2179 hey thaks for your great videos especially your mullet conversion. I would love more videos on this!
I was getting a 5.5 until I saw the mullet and I am now looking for a 6 so I can convert it.
I am 170cm and around 72kg when active. Would you reccomend a small kr medium sb6. The medium I think would be slightly to big but the small I fear the reach would be too small.
Thanks heaps! I find your videos very informative!
