  • 024 We are preparing the our summer vegetable garden and trying to determine what to plant. We're thinking tomatoes, peppers, squash, and rhubarb. What else would you plant in your french summer vegetable garden?
    Thanks again for watching,

    Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

Look at companion planting. Onions and carrots go together. The carrot fly will be.put off by the onion smell. Companion planting is v good.
I would do a proper cottage garden that mixes in flowers and veg as well 😊
Next time your hubby goes to fix something on a machine, make sure its switched off! 😮😊

I loved watching the garden area getting ready for planting. I like all that you purchased for your garden. Healthy looking plants for sure. Dinner looked so delish! From here in the state's piedmont region, Happy Saturday.

Eggplant, sweet italian peppers (Corno di Toro), leeks (a variety that can stay in the ground all winter), red Florence onions, Zebrune shallots, garden shell peas, snow peas, fava beans and green beans! :)
Hey guys, we need a slower tour of that store, with lots of shots of what they sell (with prices!). It looked pretty cool.

They all sound great! When we get back we will get more video. Sometimes it’s hard to not disturb other customers though.

You probably didn't have time to do it before, but in future when you're away during winter, you'd probably be best to cover the soil with something to suppress the grass and weeds

For sure rhubarbs... but also fruit bushes.... I can HIGHLY reccommend buying blackberries and planting them so they can grow on a trellis, and make sure you get the thorn-free (not sure if that's what you call them) kind. Love your videoes xx

You must be staying for the summer if you are planting up, good luck and I hope you get a good crop. There is a lot of joy to be had from growing your own things and I’m interested to see how it works out for you.

How interesting to plant in another country and learn the ways of their area. I just love the stone buildings and the fences.

Exactly! We've had many gardens in the US. This is a whole different region, country, learning experience/effort... heck the just learning the names of plants has been an adventure. I guess that's what we signed up for... :)

I think varieties that which can survive without you for a few days and continue to grow Zucchini ,beans, Hokkaido,Tomatoes(but they are diva and to early🍅), melons, onions, garlic, parsley, basil, Rosmarin is beautiful have a lot nice flower in spring and make a good air in the room, and growing quickly in this place, thyme, oregano, basic for good food kiwi plants or graps you have a very long fence perfect🍷🍇 for grape and kiwi plant there are wine plants same in a vinegard for eating and vine , perhaps a walnut tree very good keeps Moskitos away around the house.💛🤎💚🐞
