I picked up this same knife from SMKW when the sale first started. It was my first Case sodbuster, and I bought it strictly for the color. Didn’t know the story about the birdseye rivet, so I learned something new. This particular knife was one of the few Case knives I purchased in the past year that actually was free of any major defects.

I have to admit, had it not been on sale, I probably wouldn't have bought it. I also bought it for the color. Its a gorgeous knife. I'm very pleased with it.

The Sky Blue Bone is stunning. The bird's eye rivets are a better look and fit for the sodbuster. I remember using a the ol IMP-22 when I worked a landscaping job while in school. They have the birds eye rivet also and I distinctly remember thinking "I hope this doesn't snap." Never did which was at least good psychologically. 😀

I have always felt that the bird's eye rivet was a defining feature of the pattern. Otherwise it is just another ho-hum jack knife. There I go being narrow-minded all over again.

I think the bird's eye rivit does make the knife look a lot better and stronger.

The Birdseye rivet might give a stronger support to the blade I once thought true. However, the pivot pins used on Spyderco knives is not much bigger and proves very strong. They do add a different look to the knife I like too.👍

Real pretty color on that one. A beautiful knife, but I would like to see the blade centered. I know it's not rubbing, but stil..
    Thank you for sharing.

Sodbuster is my everyday carry knife. They really screwed up lining everything together so I show it to everybody. It still works just fine though. Just used it tonight for cutting up bait while fishing
Would love to see one in green my favorite color

Imagine that. The knife works in spite of the blade not being perfectly centered. LOL. I would love to see in hunter green or Case's "Kentucky Blue Grass" which is also more green than blue!

Very very beautiful sodbuster. Maybe they thought the big shiny rivet would be competing with the purdy bone cover 🤔. I guess for me I do like the birdseye rivet but don’t really notice it missing on the bone sodbuster. Great video T 👍

Not a fan of the jigging, looks too fake. It would look better in nice Stag bone. If Rosecraft can build, knives with centered blades, why, on Earth, can't Case?

Yes sir, Case does have a sodbuster in 6.5 Bone Stag (my personal favorite Case Soddy) and I believe they made two versions of the 6.5 Bone Stag covers.

Because one company says they are hand building and the other company is hand building.

I have seen the 6.5 bone stag. I might get it if I can find it on sale.

As much as I hate to say it, if Case was paying their team for that level of QC and rejecting off center blades we wouldn't be able to afford them and they'd have availability closer to GEC. Part of why RCB and their OEMs can offer the fit and finish they do is the access to insanely cheap workers.
Unfortunately Case is trying to hit volume to be profitable, and for the most part the "is it centered" crowd is a small subset of their overall market

@@nvalley So you're saying if a person wants an American product, they have to settle for second-rate quality? I think it's Case's business model. Keep making off-center knives if people keep buying them. If those off-center knives were regularly returned, I bet things would change.

The carribean blue sawcut is great too! If you want one in carbon, they do them in amber and pocket worn gray bone. I have an amber on the way.
