Tropica Aquarium Plants thank you ! I used the link but it wasn’t under the playlist. Sorry about that! I need my eyes checked !
I always do the same, letting my scapes get wild so I can show the trimming process with a dramatic before and after effect 😜
Best thing tropica done in business was hire you as a content creator your professional approach to aquascaping gets even the beginner curious about aquascaping well done bud stay safe from scotland
Wow, absolutely BEAUTIFUL plant growth! Ludwigia sp red is one of my favorites, it’s an easy going plant that adds a pop of color to any scape
You nailed it. Beeing bold while cutting back stems is the best way to do it, as long as there are a few centimeters left they'll grow even better!
Beautiful!!
Thank you Sharron! 😊
Great video. I didn´t know about the "Topping" technique. Will try it tomorrow.
Glad it was helpful!
This was a great video!
Great Video. 👍👍👍👍
A video about Pearl weed would be great !

question for you, great fan here, everytime i trim my ammanlia gracilis they dont grow back and the tip turns black like rotting and no other shoots coming why is that, I dose fertilizers co2 and nutrient substrate also high light
Great video. These Oase Aquariums Are a cut above the others. So beautifully built and given the quality of the highline lighting, which really comes from the more expensive range, they are quite a bargain. However, I have had no success with the internal filters and swapped it out for a Biomaster. Is there a planting schedule somewhere for this particular tank? Also, what CO2 concentration do you need for this type of planting? Many thanks for these brief and highly informative videos.
Hi Philip. In terms of CO2 concentration we are around 20mg/l but it depends on your water parameters and how your plants react to the conditions; we always recommend to adjust the values based on your aquarium. When it comes to planting schedule, George is a spontaneous free mind thus no spreadsheet will keep him at bay; it's advised to do it right before a water change.
I do frequent trimmings. On some weeks, it is everyday. It will take about 5 mins a day.
Why add the fertilizer immediately before the water change? Wouldn't that just waste the ferts?
Great video 👍 I have a experiment on-going about NOT trimming plants in a aquarium I haven't trimmed anything in 2 months yet everything is still going strong as of now
Good luck with your underwater jungle! Let us know how it goes!
@@TropicaAquariumPlants I sure will
@@chubzaquatics257 update time?
Very beautiful aquarium😊 I hava a small 15 L shrimp tank with Anubias nana petit, Lileopsys mauritius and Hygrophila pinatifida (my favourite 😏) on Tropica soil. I'd like to know the best way for trimming them, not causing any harm. Thanks!
Topping is a technic that is very common in the dutch planted tanks. The cut the tops, remove the old stems and replant these tops.
Great video george
My rotala HRA is not growing tall , it's just growing horizontal what to do ?
Hi Rehana. If your Rotala H'ra is growing horizontally rather than vertically, there could be several reasons why:
1. Insufficient lighting: Rotala H'ra requires moderate to high lighting to grow well. If your aquarium lighting is not strong enough, it can cause the plant to grow horizontally to reach the light source. Consider increasing the intensity and duration of your aquarium lighting.
2.Low CO2 levels: Rotala H'ra also benefits from supplemental carbon dioxide (CO2) injection, which helps it grow faster and more vertically. Low levels of CO2 can cause the plant to grow horizontally or wither. Consider increasing your CO2 injection or adding a liquid carbon supplement.
3.Nutrient deficiency: A lack of essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and iron can cause Rotala H'ra to grow slowly or horizontally. Ensure that your aquarium has a balanced fertilizer regimen and that the water parameters are within the acceptable range for these plants.
4.Trimming technique: When trimming Rotala H'ra, it's important to cut the stem at a 45-degree angle to promote vertical growth. Cutting the stem too close to the substrate can cause it to grow horizontally.
When you trim stem plants, does the only the top half (that’s replanted) keep growing, or does the bottom half continue to grow as well?
Hey Alec. They both develop independently, thus both halfs will grow.
A quick question...do we need to off the filter when we do the trimmings? Thanks in advance...
I rally love it too much
I need some ideas for your can u
so when topping you don't put the stems in the soil ?
Pretty much no. They'll tie themselves to whatever they can get a hold of.
When cutting stem plants, has anyone experienced brown diatoms taking over the cut stem? In my tank it seems to leave the stem which I have cut and replanted alone, but within a day or two will pretty much take over the original stem from which the cutting was taken?
Hi Laura. We haven't experienced it yet...it is indeed a strange occurrence, try to do it in clean water right after a big water change. It's hard to pin point the reason behind it in absence of more details.
I always have terrible luck every time i trim my stems they just never survive both the already planted stems and the tops what am i doing wrong?
The parameters to track are unfortunately quite extensive, it can be the light, the water the lack of nutrients (co2 included)... the evaluation happens on a case by case basis
Hi George. I love your videos, very informative:) Q: Can I trim, and replant Ceratopteris thalictroides in the same way as you do in this video? Kind regards Klaus
Hi Klaus. Short answer, yes you can! Check out our video about the Ceratopteris ruclips.net/video/VYfdg1fsBvU/видео.html
if the plants are not established, can I still trim?
Do you have any video trimming ludwigia verticillata var cuba?
my ludwigia ver cuba grow high but the leaf at bottom portion are dead missing all the leaf. if i replant the top its die completly.
Did he fertilize the water before a water change?
Good point. George was just illustrating the fertilizing process thus do not worry, no fertilizer has been wasted in the making of this video :D. You should always fertilize after the water change.
@@TropicaAquariumPlants I disagree... I saw three pumps from the bottle were wasted! LOL! ;)
Hi I want to ask if you could get stem trimmings from emersed plants then directly plant it in a submerged state will they survive or just rot and die?
Hi Francis. It is normally better to have strong roots before you submerge a plant. The best would be to allow the stem to develop roots before you submerge it.
Can you do a video how you explain how co2 works?
Hi Haakon. In our plant care section you'll find some instructive videos about CO2 usage; Yet it's a great idea, we'll consider it for the future.
Ok thanks👍👍
Hi
When i use trpoica specialist my aquarium water gh bli more and more
What can i do?
Thank
tropica specialized doesn't contain minerals that should increase your GH. When water evaporates and you refill with tap water, this can increase GH. Was this answer helpful?
@@TropicaAquariumPlants yes.
Thank you George 😊👋
Is it not possible with ludwigia palustris to grow them in vitro?
Impossible is nothing! Yet we haven't added them to the 1-2 Grow range yet.
@@TropicaAquariumPlants ty for the answer. I know it must be profitabel and hopefully it will be added sometime in.
Hiii the new mwthod of planting in plant mass where it is just suspended? Is this applicable to all stem plants? I tried doing it in the past but they just kept floating off or theyll float off after a few days. Is there a proper way to do it? Thank you so much
Hi Elisha. Good question and an interesting technique. We'd advise against trying it on all stem plants as most plants prefer to eventually root into soil (unless they're floating); additionally the result might not be the best as roots will start developing covering up the healthy adjacent plants.
@@TropicaAquariumPlants i see :) thank you so much for the reply 😊 as for that Ludwigia used, about how far away is it from the substrate? I am so sorry for the numerous questions as this really spiked my interest
No worries about the questions load. In this case they're about 2-3 cm from the soil but there's no rule of thumb about it; as long as you can fit them somewhere and hide the fact that they're suspended from the main point of view it's alright.
@@TropicaAquariumPlants thank you so much :) will try to this about next week with my cabomba and H. sunset. Lets see how it works hahaha
That was scary watching those cuts with the baby shrimp. 😧
I have Ludwigia repens these guys are on plant steroids smh they seem to grow every 3 days -_-
