I can’t even begin to express how much I absolutely love Ludwigia! It’s such a beautiful plant and is a great centerpiece that ties everything together and adds a pop of color. I have Ludwigia Repens and Ludwigia Super Red (which is truly a showstopper!). They do grow fast but the best part is that they’re so easy to propagate

I'm VERY hopeful on my new Ludwigia super red. I had Ludwigia many years ago..but green and plain. This new type with small round leafs (unless it changes as it grows) is going to make a outstanding sheared red hedge right near center of the 240.
I have to thank the internet. I never see these plants that the pro's use for sale at the LFS, even chain store. Guys like you fill the need!

Love your whale fin snake plant! Not to sound creepy I saw you posted on a FB houseplants group it reminded me I've ordered from you before and I wanted to get more aquatic plants cause most of mine have died off and don't know where to begin I was really in to aquascaping last year and already forgot names of easy care plants so videos like these are super helpful! I'm great at keeping houseplants alive but have a hard time with aquatic plants

My tip of the day? Use Nesaea. Its the only plant that will turn reddish-orangish-pinkish, depending on light and newness of the growth with no Co2 at all. Needs lots of light..soft water they say. Mine is soft out of the tap so I can't say if that's true or not.
I see it more than Rotala or Ludwigia for sale.. a reason why.

Ive got 2 varieties the broad leave (which has red on the underside of leaf) and a narrow leaf ( the leaves closes to the light turn red) they grow tall ,cause the depth of my tank is a foot an 2 inches or 37cm. Yet its already as tall an some. I havent tested the theory yet, just what i came across during my research - that the more iron you give any plants, will turn even green plants red. You can if you want collaborate more on that. Im using ada aqua soil amazonia 2

Good video. I checked your website but there's a critical piece of info I need for my nano tanks -- plant height and spread! I don't want to be constantly trimming, I would prefer a plant that is naturally dwarf/mini. I checked your filters in your website but there's no nano or dwarf option. Adding one, plus the sizes of all plants sure would make it easier for me to plan my tanks and purchases. :)

I bought one of the red version the shop attendant doesn't know what plant it was so I also have no idea first I thought it was rotala but I see that it was close to the red one you have. Since I have no idea whether it's a root, a rizome or floating plant I just float them now it only had 5 leaves left.

Hi love this vid. I appreciate it. I only just found out what this plant was called. I purchased from people that know nothing about plants and I have/had no idea what to do. Every plant that I have in my tank, I found out should not be planted in substrate. So I started researching today about this beautiful red leafy plant I have in my tank. SP Red! Or as PictureThis app said "Ludwigia palustris". I have several bunches around my tank. I noticed several growing roots at various nodes so I gently push them into the substrate. However, my issue is, my fish keep pulling them out. Daily I'm finding Red swirling around the top of my tank. What can I do to keep it in the substrate? How do I care for it. I have freshwater (obviously) 4 molly, 2 bala sharks a goldfish, an otocinclus and an albino pleco. I think it's the goldfish pulling them up.

I bought one call L. natans "Super Red". Now,it has the smallest near round foliage I've ever seen on a Ludwigia..or Rotala. Do you know of it?..older lower leaves turn green..but its dominant pure red..almost metallic in sunlight.

Update on no Co2 tank...its doubled in height..but was a bit bare..so I took scissors to it cut it in half, replanted the cuttings in the same pot to thicken it up. So far..very small reduced foliage. Not like the internet photos. It might need to build a stronger root system to enlarge. Or if stays that way,I'm fine with a tiny leafed red Ludwigia..nice contrast to Bolbitis or Java ferns.

My ovalis are rotting from their roots. I dont know why, but i give sufficient lighg and good soil and filtration. What could be the problem? Is it because of loss of co2 or because of its plant tank mates? (ceraptoris thalicroides, bacopa caroliniana, rotala h'ra, ludwigia red repens x arcuata and lobelia cardinalis)

I was given some ludwigia repens (and ramshorn snails, yay) and it's been growing really well. The person that gave it to me just said to break off the stem and stick it in the substrate, and it would keep growing. It's a really nice color contracts to the other green plants I have. I'm waiting to get some pot perm in the mail so I can dip the stems I've broken off and then use in other tanks (please god let it kill any snails/eggs) and give to other aquarists. Right now the broken off stems are just floating at the top, so glad that's OK. Are they column feeders then, and not root feeders?

You’re plants were grown emerged (above water). It’s transitioning to submerged growth (under water). Chances are that you won’t see a red plant again until the tips get as close as they can to the light and even then it will just be the tips. Long story short: Co2, high light, and a fert dosing schedule.

Every time I trim my Ludwigia the stem I leave behind gets covered in BBA and just dies. The part I replant lives and stays healthy with no algae. The algae only seems to grow on the cut/dying stems. Do you have any ideas to help keep this from happening? I tried more light, I tried less light, easy green + easy carbon, and Ive tried no fertilization. Eco-complete substrate.
