It’s boat racing, we race it in khmer ( Cambodia) water and moon festival every year (for 3 days) we celebrate it since our ancient time as we can see it on the wall of our Angkor Thom and Banteay Chhmar temple. It’s really excited and so much fun 😁🥰

'Medha' (meaning sagacity/perception/wisdom to make good choices) is the group of women who are performing throughout the mv - they are the very first all-female group to play drums in Cambodia (because drums are traditionally seen as a male instrument, women weren't allowed to play them even moving into the 21st century) and they fought a lot of backlash to receive acceptance for their art. The dancing you see is a traditional dance form ('robam' in Khmer), reflecting the Apsara; nymphs in Khmer culture who provide a pathway and communication between the spirits and humans. Bon Om Touk (the water festival @PoZz Tha wrote very well about!) is such an awesome festival to be a part of! The Ngo boat race holds a lot of spiritual religious meaning during this time. . Again, this sport was male-dominated for a long time, but many Khmer women are now taking up positions often only thought to be conquered by men - so it's really important to us, and younger generations, to see this kind of power - Khmer women aren't just soft, light-footed, and well-mannered anymore. We are powerhouses! I'm super proud to be a Khmer woman.

i also play the drums taught by males in the US, i did not know this was taboo. they taught me anyways. i love my teachers. they just wanted to pass their learning to anyone because our culture was on the brink. i play khmer, i play african, i play indian and many different drums because i love it so much, this is the first time i've heard that it was taboo. my male khmer teachers never said a word. so i didn't until this post.
