Had a buddy in the 80s, laid off from the oil fields. Mostly he listened to jazz. He got stoned a lot but small amounts at a time, but on the day his check came he would buy an ounce and a big new pile of this stuff on cassette and just roll all of it up into like 20 joints and smoke it all for the entire day with dub and reggae playing the whole time. It was a twice a month ritual for him.
In Kenya we have Khat, you chew khat and weed and this kinda music, you might find yourself in the same spot for 24 hours 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿

Beautiful dub plates. Grew up in late 70s London on a diet of punk, ska and dub.
Thanks for the incredible memories.
cheers mate.
Those basslines....
Sir, you are a benefactor of mankind
Thank you so very much. This takes me back. Incredible service you are providing. A teenager in the late 70’s and yes 24/7. Sold all the vinyl when cd’s came along. What a mistake! But now they finally come back to me. And “new” ones too. Lots. What a treasure. Thanks for the archive. Bless you.
I can live without computers and all this fucking digital mess, but, I need my analog music, synthesizers and the way shit used to be... peace and love always....
This is a sound from my youth in England. These sounds are the closest to heaven on earth.
If Heaven doesn't have any reverb or crazy delays when I get there I'll be beyond dissapointed.
Correct.
damn hour and a half of pure treasure. that means i will have to at least pre roll 6 blunts before i start this journey through the galaxy of dub
:)
😎🌿🥳🤣
My brother and I had a mushroom trip last night whilst listening to this mix. It was incredible! Funnily enough, while listening, we noticed one of my amplifiers was experiencing issues, and just as Tubby is maintaining his kit in the photo, my brother and I were doing the same. Peaceful, wholesome, and invigorating. Thank you for the time and effort that went into this mix/upload!
Sorry 😐😔 but, that's 😆😂🤣😭😭😭✌️🤘🤟☝️👌👍✊🙏
Nothing to do with JAH
What's nothing to do, with JAH? @pnwoollams mushrooms?.

Reminds me of the early 80s on my estate in London. There was always someone having a dance at their flat and playing dub late into the night.
You were lucky my friend.
Playing this excellent mix thru original 3 way pre SS from those days. Vintage gear, vintage tunes, me too!
This compilation is 100% treasure.
Heavy and trippy.
thanks for the feedback. cheers

Dub, Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady, Dance hall, Mento, Calypso, Soca, And Chutney are some of the finest genres of music yeah
matthew, in m opinion alot better than rap/hip hop. Better produced, more stylized.
Loving Ari Up on Prince Fari - I remember this as a kid and remember her coming round our flat with her new baby locks and being very proud of the whole affair. Love and blessings. RIP
My last 2 years nothing but dub and happiness
The flute is so poignantly sweet in this. And the drums have wonderful, vibrant and surprising melodies. It is a pity the bass line has become so predictable in music nowadays, as if it is on automatic repeat. Thank you GazeMeShoes, for putting these pieces of musical history up so that we can all continue to enjoy them!
the perfect soundtrack for my balcony 👽🤌💎
This is outstanding... First songs and bass is killing it, exceptional wirh plenty of variety, without losing rythm... New to Roots Reggae but this is my Kind of vibe... Production wise it's a gem.... Much love 👸🐑♑♾️🕺🦀♋❣️👫🏖️🌅👁️👁️

Rockin' blues, GazeMeShoes! Bless 🙏
That guy on the picture is King Tubby himself, no doubt doing what he had been doing before getting into the music business, fixing or messing with some kind of audio gear. He was known to modify his gear during his life as an engineer/producer/musician too. A true DIY guy with extreme musical talents as well.
that photo is full of legends. I roy to the right and scientist furthest from the camera.

I've been playing this mix a lot in the warehouse. Great for building pallets and letting the time slip by....

I’ve had a couple jobs building pallets of items, wrapping them, that’s a physical job a lot of times. Could barely eat enough to not lose weight, and the guys doing the freezer, man they were def burning calories I’m sure

@@GazeMeShoes Really nice photo, fits well. Would love to know the story behind it.
@@solongyouth thank you! the photo was taken by Syphilia Morgenstierne, a young (back then) norwegian that fell in love with reggae music in the 70s. she decided to travel to jamaica, get into the scene and eventually wrote a novel about it. alas, it is in norwegian with no translated version. i really recommend cheking out her website: www.itdread.com/
@@GazeMeShoes thank you very much for bringing her website to attention, i looked it up and she made a lot of nice pictures

Big up! Awesome selection 👌
King fixing an amplifier? Great photo. Beautiful music.
Infinite blessings
Original roots❤
The photo of Tubby is interesting. He appears to be actually soldering or something, like, working on the electronics. When you listen to this stuff, it sounds easy, but this was all made with very old school electronics, and I would imagine they couldn't just go out to a store and buy whatever gear they wanted.
Those were the days, now maybe it's too easy...
So good. Love and respect from Canada.

I Love dub😻💯
I would be the happiest man on 🌍 earth to find these records in vinil just what I’ve looking for when Jamaica 🇯🇲 had talent ,look at tubby fixing amp😎
Im a moderate record collector and Ive been hunting dub records for a couple of years now to no avail. Id be happy to own even just 1 king tubby or scientist album. Their aesthetics is what really gets me. Greetings from the Philippine islands.
Tracy I'm probably are going to get alot of negative comments but I have always liked dub reggae better than rap.In my opinion it's alot better produced. Much more stylized. And by the way I mean better than old and new Rap.
When am ease I love dub but I chooses what I like the best
