NY Penn is one of the very few places where you can see third rail AND catenary lines in use at the same time on the same tracks
6:50 Nice. A P42 in penn station and a crew wave
Cab car 9633 looking a little beat there with that dent on the side at 14:00, at least we are enjoying them while they last.
Yup, they have until the end of the decade at most.
20:54 that loco is pure American freedom
Hi!
7:15 lake shore limited train
7:38, like how you can hear those station exhaust blowers on high after the lakeshore passed with that P42DC leading.
That one almost sounded like the diesel might have been running, usually P42s on Empire service are dual mode and run on 3rd rail in Penn.
@@mrvwbug4423 the 700 series P32AC-DM’s are dual mode with a V12 engine.
The P40 and P42DC are straight diesels with a V16 engine. Trains on the Hudson division are usually dual mode, but often you’ll see a P40 or more often a P42DC leading.
I thought diesel fumes where not allowed in the tunnels of NY Penn station
@@christopherreiff3192 it isnt common nor recommended but diesels *can* run into NYP if explicitly needed
Well, I was hoping to railfan from your same location until I saw the Detain and Prosecute warning sign at the 11:19 mark.
That is something to keep in mind when at Penn Station, but if you only use a phone, keep to yourself and out of the way of passengers, you shouldn't have a hard time.
Great vid dude!
Nice
Have you seen anything about the charger coming to New York soon?
Yes . We will definitely have the Amtrak chargers and the metro North chargers M9AS for metro North railroad coming soon. More R211As R211Ts R211s for Staten island Rail ways R262s open gangways and the R262As close ways R268/As .
@@leecornwell5632all is right wccept for the M9As part. those are going to the LIRR, not the MNRR as of rn. we don't know if Metro North will order any M9s, since their M3As are in much better condition than the LIRR units.
@@JSquaredJJYT I also wonder if MNRR is looking to get a dual mode based off the M9 for the CT routes
How do you go spotting in Penn Station, do you need a ticket and do you get any problems with security, police and staff.
Im from the UK on holiday in New York.
A ticket helps. Usually staying out of the way and not using a tripod keep your profile minimal while in the terminal.
