Funny thing is that when you follow the law and try to migrate legally you have to jump through hoops and spend thousands to do so. Prove your background and sign a waiver that you will never use welfare. If so your greencard might be revoked. I know because that is how my parents migrate legally to the USA. Funny part is that my mother mother(my grandmother) was a US citizen, US born. But my mother was born in Europe. She wasn't given US citizenship due to the laws back then so my grandmother had to sponsor my mother and father so they could enter the US legally. If it was today they could of just flew to Mexico, enter illegally and they would be given a phone, visa and a flight to anywhere. Total BS! So unfair for people that are trying to come through legal channels.
A friend of mine who currently lives in NY, fell homeless and was staying at one of those hotels for homeless in Queens. Just a few weeks in, everyone was evicted because they are said they needed to take in immigrant mothers and children. It was extremely disgusting to know this. They evicted American born homeless people to accommodate outsiders. Never seen this before. He's now back in the regular shelter, trying to get a bed and sitting with mentally ill people. Sad
With all due respect...if he's your friend, how come you're not helping him? I bet it's better to be in a nice hotel than getting a bed with other single men...but let's be honest here, why is your friend "sitting with mentally ill people" and probably drug addicts and alcoholics? Just asking...maybe this will motivate him into going rehab or seeking help elsewhere?

He told me the people he's around seems unstable. He's an able body grown adult male who does work. I have suggested he move out of NY, but nope, he wants to continue doing his music. I have my own life and family. There's only so much you can do to help. However, when he told me about the whole getting kicked out of the hotel situation, I thought that was disgusting. Well Americans shouldn’t be living like that. Americans have all opportunity to get up and work. They have documentation they have no excuse. These migrants here are assylum seekers. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand why people want to become burden to society. I’ve been working like a slave, walk from bus stops to bus stops in blistering cold, knowing the reason is I have to pay bills and rent and groceries. I hope they would do the same. Because everything has gotten so difficult all over the world that even if people or the government want to help, we are not in the position to do so. This is the sad reality. It’s been extreme for the past few years people are barely surviving 😢

I am an American citizen who is a single mother . I can not get the help that I desperately need because of someone who thinks that they deserve help more than my family. I agree and have been there. It's terrible. Now over 60, $23 per month food stamps and 180% below poverty level but, I got my 3 children raised and they are self reliant to handle the current conditions.

They're complaining about having to leave to reapply after 30-60 days of free shelter and food? I'm a disabled U.S. citizen and can't get anything close to that level of help. In fact I've gotten none and my taxes actually contributed to the systems that are supposed to provide us help when we need it.
They made the decision to illegally enter a foreign country without any skills or even knowing the language well enough and brought children knowing they had no source of shelter, food, or employment lined up. These are the consequences of their own decisions. We have our own homeless population that doesn't get this level of attention, compassion, or resources.

it's just disgusting with the cost of housing and the amount of actual American citizens that are hurting, that these people are given such lavish treatment and expecting more and more of it. The fact that this problem exists at all means they shouldn't be here. I agreed with your general message, but really, what could be A PLAN for migration to US? In every normal country job offer is basicly guarantee for job visa. In US after job offer you need to play in dumb H1B lottery with near 1 to 3 chances of winning. You can't plan anything based on lottery. Because of your visa laws illegal migration is the most consistent and guarantted way to go to US.

Everyone born in America still has to find their own work to provide for themselves, and their family members. An adult response to needing to provide for yourself and others shouldn't be: 'lets hop the border and potentially separate the family, with no valid means of communicating, or providing for ourselves, with no plan in mind'
No matter where you're born, it's your job to figure your shit out for yourself. Nobody owes anyone anything.
The Veterans are already there. The VA has been kicking them out of various facilities to be replaced by these lawless invaders.
The problem is would be better to the US invest in Latin America then maintain migration inside the USA… where dollars can make much less than what would be there… they come here thinking they will have a better life… when The USA could benefit from investments and infrastructure in Latin America… instead of just dumping money to help a few migrants and less money to help American citizens that need housing

I think the border is basically going to be always porous, too many leaks and you'll never build a full wall or whatever Trump is promising to his acolytes. Completely unrealistic, the border is just too huge. The solution has to be to change laws and be able to deport people into huge immigration detention jails quickly, then send them back very quickly without redress to US courts or any of the US do-good systems that weren't designed for this number of people trying to get in from their train wreck 3rd world corrupt societies that in the last 50 years they made all by themselves. I lived in Switzerland for couple of years and immigration is heavily regulated. Surprise bus check ups to see if people have paid their tickets but also to ask for papers, schools don’t accept kids if parents are not legally in the country, housing is regulated as well and if you rent someone without proper documentation you can be in a big trouble…

Business people are opening hotels and contracting them to government to be used as shelters. This is a lucrative business for some. All at the expensive of citizens and residents.

If you get disabled in college after 18 but before you work you can get SSI at best. That's barely 900 a month to live off of including food stamps. I can't even afford my medical bills because insurance doesn't cover the treatments for my disease that every other country calls a basic standard of care every citizen has the right to. Between that and a service dog, I'm generally relying on others for some basics like clothes and shoes.
They keep saying this is not what we were promised. I think it's time to find out who made promises to them. If they are here illegally they have no right to any expectations.
