This has gotta be my favorite boss theme. I especially like the many kinds of alarms it features - it's like the song is built around the idea that every system in Samus's suit is telling her to run away. Because she's facing one of the most dangerous threats in the known universe: herself. I really hope Prime's re-release means there's an Echoes HD in the works, too.
I like how you don’t actively go hunting for Dark Samus before the first fight with her, you just walk into a room and oh hey look who’s here. Gives the game a cool level of spontaneity where your enemy could be around any corner, even though that’s not actually the case.
It was I can’t lie I felt incredibly badass defeating dark samus I just love the idea of a clone of you having to just face off to see who comes out victorious is really great no weak points I gotta hit just a face off against yourself basically
I wish the GameCube had a headphone jack or something like the Mega Drive had, for this just sounds infinitely better through my headphones than it did through the relatively crappy speaker of the 90s CRT TV I played this game on.
As I heard someone else say, faint voices are chanting "we aren't worthy". I'll never unhear it, especially considering how Dark Samus mind-controls the Space Pirates in Prime 3

@@theblackwolfn99 to be fair, most of samus's moveset is completely fictional and i doubt they wanted more moves that didnt exist beforehand so they stuck woth the already made up ones, also dark samus is literally the metroid prime taking the shape an abilities of samus, it makes sense that they play the same but with different animations and physics when jumping.
The battle with Dark Samus in Agon Wastes, Sanctuary Fortress, and on Dark Aether are the most badass moments in Metroid Prime 2...and this theme is the icing on an already delicious cake!
Every moment you were having a duel between dark samus was the best moment of the game. Wasn’t a boss that relied on bugged out weak points or gimmicks, just a stiff fight with only one clear rule First guy to die? LOSES!
@@kruvik I honestly didn't have too much trouble with the Boost Guardian. The Power Bomb guardian on the other hand... Then again, I played the Trilogy version, so maybe that's why.
It really added to the tension and sense of urgency. Especially for the final battle with the countdown. The song and the numbers were practically screaming “hurry up!”

Yeah. And that goes for the Space Pirates and Samus too. The pirates were also there for the phazon but got chased by the Federation who sent a distress signal to Samus. None of them were there due to what was happening on Aether but all of them faced the consequences of it. The Pirates couldn't set up a base in Torvus and beyond, the Federation didn't make it past the Splinter Hive and Temple Grounds due to the Ing, and Samus had to destroy Dark Aether to not only just destroy the Ing but also to stop the spread of Phazon.
@@Cloud99996 Prime 2's story specifically is mentioned in three, it's where the Federation got the Phazon to make their PED suits. the origin of the meteor that struck aether is also explained and is plot-relevant
@@heathersmith4042 Origin of the meteor is explained in two, or three? Because I know you travel to Phaaze in 3, but I don't know if there are any logs that say anything about where phazon came from in the 2nd game. Its been at least a decade for me.
i will stay with the opinion that prime 2 had prol the best soundtrack of the prime games and honestly gets close to best of the series in total most of these songs are fking amazing and metroid in general has always had an amazing track record of soundtracks so much so that when dread released and had a just kinda good soundtrack it was singled out pretty fast as meh compaired to the rest
it's also cool that when you play the intro stage of prime 3, when dark samus appears, it start with this song, that chills me up the first time I saw that :D
The Pirates were trying to make a deal with Dark Samus: Phazon in exchange for the head of their common enemy. But for the most part, they pretty much ignored Dark Samus.
It still boggles me, how in the world did we have Dark Samus in Smash Bros. yet this theme was completely devoid from the game? It's Pittoo all over again.
@@spartanq7781 Alright, usually haven't looked into Smash stuff because the last one I played was Melee and besides that I didn't hear much about it except when some characters were introduced.
I'm scared that it's just going to be a simple port and I would be disappointed if it wouldn't be a proper remaster. Hoping for a remake, though I highly doubt it. Samus Prime and his team puts a LOT of effort into remastering Prime 1. Also, I hope that the trilogy will be playable with a normal (please GCN) controller.
I'd honestly be fine with a straight up port of the trilogy version, the graphics still hold up pretty well imo. What I hope though, is that they give the option to just use a normal pro controller. I actually did like the motion aiming of the trilogy version of the prime games, but I don't really trust my joycons to always be working if I want to play it (I have 3 pairs that have drift at this point and I'll probably begrudgingly buy a 4th pair since I like playing in portable mode on switch) so I hope they have multiple controller options for the game. And also getting rid of the gimmicky motion control sequence in Prime 3 would make that game a lot more enjoyable.

My theory is that Nintendo will do a remaster for the entire trilogy to lead up to prime 4. If not remasters then maybe ports of the game.
