  • Today’s ride was from Zion to Nittany to Tylersville to Loganton, then back home on I-80 West towards Lock Haven. The temperature was 17° F (-8° C).

I would like to say you are damn crazy riding in 17F weather with snow still on the road but then I remember.....
My desire to ride is still strong. But my desire to venture out anymore at 17F has abandoned me. Old age is a thief!
I look forward to riding those roads again soon. A lovely visual reflection of what it is to ride in cold weather here in Central Pennsylvania.

Thanks, Steve. I do enjoy getting out and seeing what our part of the world looks like in these wintry conditions. BTW, the battery-powered socks you gave me work like a charm! They've been keeping my feet nice and toasty.

Beautiful country. But I would be so skeered to ride on that.

I try to be especially careful and take it slow. My cabin fever can get pretty rough in the winter months!

I just tried on my 2008 Piaggio MP3 250, snow and icy Hill, are so much fun and a little bit dangerous. I am 72 and I love my scooter MP3. Let it snow.

Recommend you take the Siglerville-Milheim Pike! Very scenic route

Great suggestion! As luck would have it, I took that very road for the first time just a few weeks ago in late December. I stopped and snapped a few photos from a vista looking south towards Burnham. I’ll post a pic!

Was that Narrows road near Tylersville? I was a little confused when you came back to route 80. I assumed you would get on near Loganton, but you must have approached the road from the north if you were heading west to go home. Plus, my recollection of the south side of that intersection, there are a few restaurants and a gas station. I admire your bravery going out in that weather. I always worry about finding slippery surfaces. At least I can live vicariously through your video.

Hi Tim, yes, you got it all exactly right. I threw you a curve ball by heading north of the I-80 intersection to Rosecrans so I could warm up inside the Hillside Variety Store. They even have cushy furniture for sale in there that I could relax on while the feeling came back to my fingers.

30 degrees is no joke! I’m glad you’re still enjoying the ride at 67 and hope to do the same when that age rolls around for me.
