When bees collect nectar or when the collect pollen they have different worker bees assigned to each. The same bees are not collecting both. Nectar is liquid, pollen is not. How do the bees separate the two when you have desolved the powdered pollen in your sugar water? Isnt nectar / carbohydrates used to make wax and feed adult bees while the protein / pollen is feed to larva????
The pollen grains get mixed into the nectar on the flower some and when the bees are attempting to gather the nectar. Honey bees consume both carbs (nectar) and protein (pollen). Pollen grains are found mixed in the nectar and honey.
I've noticed that you always hand hold the queen when you mark her . Suggestion for a future short video: show how to use a 1-handed queen marking cage. I've used those successfully, and it might be helpful to others.
Thanks David for the great video! I'm really grateful for your dedication. My splits are doing wonderful I have 4 health hives thanks to your guidance. Please subscribe you won't go wrong with David's help. Keep up the great work and videos!!
Great queen handling info!! Thank you David! 🙏🏼 QQ: Can you cover SHB control. And what size screen stops them? I have 2 new hives and I am fiercely protecting them from SHB. Nasty little bugs.
You have quickly become one of my favourites to watch on youtube. Thankyou for sharing your incredible knowledge and everyday bee keeping experiences, it's amazing and helpful to a 3 year novice.
Please continue making GREAT VIDEOS! David - the last 3 days weather hasn't been good for bees - high today was 52 and breezy. I inspected the hives yesterday when it got up to 60 degrees, all the bees were huddled in the middle keeping warm. All I did was peek in because I didn't want to chill the brood. Maybe next week I will do a better inspection. 👍
David, a quick question from a noob. I fed my bees and they filled all their drawn combs half full. All their comb. The queen didn't have anywhere to lay her eggs and she left. I tried requiring but it failed. Now I am just waiting for my first hive to die off as there are just a couple of hundred of them left. How do I prevent them from filling half a comb? i will try next year but I am afraid that I will repeat the same mistakes.
That really is a mite
Nope, I rubbed it. Not a mite. But it does look like one.
David I love your content but on this one I believe your wrong

Whats your thoughts on feeder frames? I know it takes away one frame but outside of that, is there issues that I should be aware about?
Does your green dot wear off quickly? The green dot on my queens seem to wear off within two weeks?
I'm not noticing that just yet.
Of all the beekeeping videos and people I watch on RUclips, you are by far the most gentle with your girls. Love the videos.
Bees are lovely and calm
Thanks for watching
Thank you for showing how to catch and handle the queen to mark her!
You bet!

I just checked my bees, ate some honey and got high AF. The rhodies are blooming..
Is dry feeding ultra bee as good as mixing it in water
Only at certain times of the year as I've shared in my videos. I'll use open powder in late winter and early fall.
