    Thanks for the video, David. I stopped feeding about 3 weeks ago, when I discovered very little brood due to available space being filled with syrup. Now 3 weeks later most of those frames have brood instead of syrup and the nectar flow is on, so I'm not likely to feed again until late summer and of course through the fall as well.

    Hi my name is John. I'm getting back into beekeeping after 4 years so I'm definitely still a newbie 100%. Had a couple questions about feeding getting my bees this year. June 10th putting my nuke in. I Should also mention I'm in Ontario, Canada What are the actual benefits of honey bee healthy? Having trouble figuring that one out a little bit. I watched a couple of your videos on it. Definitely sounds like something I should be probably using and I also wanted to know what type screen do you use underneath the lids of your mason jar feeders? Hope my message is not too long. Really hope to ask a few more questions in the future if you're okay with that. You have a great chance!

    Short answer can you lift up your hive, then feed them, if you feel like your backs gunna go out stop feeding them.

    My 2 packages are 5 weeks old. They’re new hives, so do not have drawn out frames. I installed another deep to both last week, and going to check them this week to see how far along they are. That way I can have supers ready. The queens brood should be foraging soon. I have your feeder boards, and entrance feeders, 6 qt in all. They’re draining them in 3 to 4 days. Plus homemade pollen patties half the size of the rectangular hole. I change them about every 4 days to keep beetles from laying eggs on them. So I’m going to feed them until the foragers start, and have a lot wildflowers bloom. I’m afraid to stop feeding them because I know they need a lot of resources to draw out comb. Is this ok? Any suggestions?

    Hi David,
    I didn't get a reply to my previous comment.
    I love your tests, I hear more and more about an alternative to the smoker, Apisilos I cross.
    Have you already tested this product?
    If anyone has, I'd love to hear about it. It seems very interesting to me, I hate the smoker.

    My nuc was ready for the 2nd brood box so I added it 3 weeks ago. When I inspected it thus week I found they had put nectar and pollen on at least 5 of the 8 frames and no eggs. All the brood is in the bottom box. What do I do about that?? I went ahead and put a super on top with a queen excluder but not sure that will help.

    Mr Burns, I am experimenting with feeder boards. I am also trying out Mason Jar Honeycomb Producing. I have multiple questions with not many knowing about this .. I know you have done some research on this subject. I would love to pick your brain about some ideas I have had about my apiary. I would love it if you could contact me and bounce ideas off each other!!! Thanks agin for all your knowledge and time that you put into these videos. I truly appreciate i!!

    I was mixing the additives into my sugar water like that, but I actually have had it ferment on me. Last time it happened, the jar lost vacuum and dumped the sugar syrup into my hive, killing a lot of bees. Any thoughts on what I may have done wrong to have caused that to happen?

    • @jamescraig8601
      @jamescraig8601 Месяц назад

      Your jar leaked.fermenting has nothing to do with it.

    • @scottthefamilyman1533
      @scottthefamilyman1533 Месяц назад

      Fermenting would create carbon dioxide, causing the jar to loose vacuum.

    • @annieshrock8821
      @annieshrock8821 Месяц назад

      Yes, fermentation releases gases. (It was almost fizzy.) Trust me, that's why it lost vacuum. Just not sure why it fermented.

    My new package had a head start because I used comb from last year. They repaired the damage from honey extraction perfectly! They have consumed about a quart per week of your sugar water recipe.

    Over some 60 years in the craft here in the Utah high desert, I've seen that most beekeepers feed way too much -- especially pollen substitutes. I rarely need a package, split, or swarm to maintain my colony numbers. When I do, I feed just long enough to help the colony draw enough comb so the queen can get to work. They do fine from there. If I can give the swarm/package/split a frame or two already-drawn comb, I don't feed at all. When I do feed, I find that they prefer syrup without additives. The European honey bee did just fine for millions of years without artificial feed. The still have that ability. If beekeepers were to put as much effort into managing the mites (a threat the European honey bee did NOT evolve with), as they do in feeding, they'd match my near 100% wintering survival rate AND have a respectable harvest untainted by sugar syrup.

      Yeah it’s nicer but one suggestion.. make little holes 🕳️ all around the edges to sawed with threads 🧵 instead of glue. & make it one inch longer than your eyes 👀 line. Cut the mask with scissors last. Just make sure you used first before cutting it. In case you need to make some adjustments
