I was on Methadone for 2 years. It saved my life. I was ready to change though. Tired of being addicted. I didnt get addicted to methadone but dependent, yes. It helped get off opiates, then used Kratom to withdrawal from methadone, after tapering down and going off. Now I am 3 years sober from everything. Thank God everyday for my life back. I pray for those on the blues, etc. I couldn't imagine how hard it is to get off that. God bless. ❤️

It's a life choice. You have to pull yourself out of it, cause nobody else will.

i was on methadone 14 years, took me 4 years to taper off 188mg then jumped off at 5mg, its been 6 and a half months since last dose and STILL have post acute withdrawals.

Why did you stay on so long and why was your dose so high?

And why did you get off?

@@vginnyburton I gave myself ptsd from cold turkey withdrawals that made me fear ever getting off so I stayed on it for so long, heres the kicker I was never addicted to any other opiate and got addicted to street methadone when me and friend would take his dads 10mg pill,we felt good for most the day when we took it, then one day I went to work without taking any and started feeling really weird, I had no idea it was even a opiod or addicting at the time, later on a took a 10mg pill and felt great again and thats when I researched and found out I was addicted, a few months later his dad died and i went a few months cold turkey from about 20mg then I stupidly decided to get back on via the clinic. In my mind I was just gonna take them for life but as the years went on my tolerance went up and I found myself feeling way over medicated, sleeping all day and lazy. So I decided I dont want this life and spent 4 years tapering off. here I'am 6 and a half months clean but I still have some really bad days that can be downright debilitating but I also have good days and as time goes on the intensity/duration of bad days is becoming less and less.

@@vginnyburton I stayed on because I feard withdrawal which after years of being on it I built up tolerance so I was on high dose, High dose lead to constant fatigue and sleeping and I no longer wanted that life so it was just time to get clean. I've had zero cravings but some days my post acute withdrawals can still be debilitating and other days I feel ok.Such a looong process, 6 months has felt like a year...
the real kicker is I was never addicted to other opiates and started on methadone when I would get it from my friends dad, i didnt know about addiction or that it was a opiod. Then one day going to work without taking it I felt very weird. once I got home i took my 10mg pill i got from his dad and felt normal thats when I realized the correlation and dependance..
Well he died and I went a few months without from 20mg cold turkey then i through in the towel after feeling like crap the entire time and got on the clinic.fast forward 10 years i began my taper,4 years later I jumped ship at 5mg and here I'am today 6 and a half months clean and never touching another opiate again.

@@vginnyburton Well i tried writing a lengthy summary for you but youtube deleted it... long story short I feared withdrawal so i stayed on it, and this lead to tolerence and needing more and more.

I think suboxone can be great if you don't stay on it forever. Unfortunately doctors like to keep people on it and taking way more than they actually need.
