Thank the lord for you! Someone who actually shares their measurements with the world. I couldn’t find one video where someone DIY’ed a platform bed AND shared the measurements. Free or not, at least it’s shared. Thank you. 💜
Thanks Valpor...it was a good time...and we knew we were going to have to work fast while he was out here - so we wanted to make sure it was something big, but that could be done relatively quickly.
You have a voice that can be used to narrate children's adventure stories. Bedtime stories. Aside from that, this was an awesome build and great idea. End result was fantastic. I like the option of staining/painting the wood. Again, good video!
Chris, Glad you guys got together and I was able to find you via Johnny;s channel. Look forward to seeing many more of your videos. Thank you guys for sharing what you do and the processes that are involved.
I dig the concept. I wish it would have been done with red or white oak to make it pop. Overall the design and concept was great. The headboard made the whole project and really took it to the next level. Great job.
Gonna skip the base and slats and just build the surrounding part and headboard but starting this tomorrow! Needed a bed low enough for our dachshunds and not paying 1500+ for a platform bed! Awesome build!
Great project idea and videos, thanks. I bought the plans and scaled up the dimensions from a standard Full mattress (54" x 75") up to a standard Queen (60" x 80"). But, after cutting all the planks, I realize that the design is actually a bit too short for a standard Full, and as a result, my side boards are a little too short to fit my existing Queen mattress (it will probably just barely fit, but with no clearance for sheet access at the head or foot). After studying the Sketchup, I realize that you built it around a 74" long mattress, which is 1" shorter than a standard. I'm sure that there's some variation in normal mattress lengths, but I would suggest that your plans should be based on the standard size (and yes, I should have drawn it all out and measured my mattress before cutting... lesson learned) Now I'm debating between cutting 1" from the footboards (which may or may not mess up the symmetry), or else shifting the side rails out by an inch or two, and adding a cosmetic spacer at the foot. Neither is ideal, but the Purebond plywood is too expensive to justify re-cutting all the side planks. I'll make it work, but figured I should point it out.
@@Miggggy Hey, thanks for asking - it came together okay, but with some reworking required on my end. That's due more to my learning this stuff on the fly than with the source material, but the adjustments I had to make to turn it into a queen size didn't help. I'm going to put together a video of the results, along with some thoughts on the size adjustments, will post here.
good job, good music, good music, good mood, good friend, good bed.....I finished my "good" but I know u have a bunch more waiting to be shown us....thanks...for good example ;)
I have to say I am quite impressed by your video and the editing. Found it funny when you labeled the kid a and kid b. This video made me smile. Thanks for all the tips and your hard work making this video.
My first time watching one of your videos. I accidentally stumbled on this while searching for nightstand ideas. Your whole set up is very calming, artistic, and enjoyable! Like a RUclips artisan of building(if that makes sense) your narration is so soothing! I appreciate the content man! Keep it up
I like you Chris! You are the one who’s gotten me interested in furniture building! I recently built my first piece. It was a three legged stool. Thank you for the inspiration!
I started by watching your diy modern tv stand (the one with colored doors), and have now watched at least 10 of your videos. I really like the way each video is presented and I love the format! Keep making cool videos!
If u ever build this again... I might suggest zip bolts for the base... has a bolt with a lag side and the other side goes into a cam... just a suggestion ... great vid !!
Hi Chris. Great video. Those interlocking beams you created. Would they be strong enough to be used as a table frame to rest a tabletop on. Or would they start sagging in the middle without proper cross support. I’m thinking about using this technique to create a board game table with a recessed gaming area. Thanks
Those were Fast Caps...but we liked the look of the screw so we left it. Plus we knew we were going to be taking it apart since we had to photo shoot it in my living room :)
So did Johnny sleep on the floor until you made the bed for him ;) Chris, again, always great storytelling. You are a master at what you do. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Chris, In building modular bed for your son video you said “it’s first and last time you will saw me building a bed” and here you are building another bed. I have a good memory hahaha
Great piece did you consider putting something underneath the bed so it doesn't mess up the floor with such a large footprint I know the weight alone will probably prevent it from moving. Awesome builds thanks for sharing.
Did you use the maple plywood for all the layers or just the top exposed pieces? Maple 4x8 is 100 Canadian bucks so trying to minimize the costs. Thanks.
Great video Chris. I don't know if I like the final bed itself, but the video is awesome. And you got us with the damn "in bed" subtle joke at the end. Can I like this twice for subtle humor and video work?
catnip in the garden? btw...fair warning: after kid b, you'll have to switch from man-to-man to zone-defense. Just so you can plan ahead.... collaborations and all.....
Cool project! I like the form of the bed, and I like plywood patterns in general, but here I'd like to cover the sides with a layer of plywood, it will give a more clean look. Anyway your idea is awesome and I think this bed will stay for a hundred years without any problems.
This deserves a revisit with the current format of videos.
Thank the lord for you! Someone who actually shares their measurements with the world. I couldn’t find one video where someone DIY’ed a platform bed AND shared the measurements. Free or not, at least it’s shared. Thank you. 💜
What got me into your channel is your soft voiced narration, and music. It's very relaxing. Keep it up. That's what sets you apart from everyone.
Thanks Kenny :)
It's really cool to see you two work together on this one. And that you use just plywood not some fancy hardwood.
Thanks Valpor...it was a good time...and we knew we were going to have to work fast while he was out here - so we wanted to make sure it was something big, but that could be done relatively quickly.
It was a super fun build, and I love using plywood in this way. It’s an incredibly versatile material.
You have a voice that can be used to narrate children's adventure stories. Bedtime stories. Aside from that, this was an awesome build and great idea. End result was fantastic. I like the option of staining/painting the wood. Again, good video!
Thanks Adrian :)
that is goingto be the most solid built bed ever. Earthquake proof
haha...it is pretty dang beefy
Chris, Glad you guys got together and I was able to find you via Johnny;s channel. Look forward to seeing many more of your videos. Thank you guys for sharing what you do and the processes that are involved.
Hey Gary...glad you found me too! Had a great time working with Johnny - hope you enjoy some of my other builds as much :)
I dig the concept. I wish it would have been done with red or white oak to make it pop. Overall the design and concept was great. The headboard made the whole project and really took it to the next level. Great job.
This build deserved a "Johnny B crouch." Excellent work!
haha...we did the double Power Squat on his headboard vid :)
Yup, gotta go check out Part 2, Shane!
Just watched part 2 and I must say that Chris is a natural. Most excellent video guys!
going back five years and watchin this. damn how far you have come.
Congratulations on the Baby!
Thanks Sonny
I was hoping to see the Johnny squat from you! Awesome video as always Chris! You two have easily become my favourites on RUclips!
Check out the headboard video. We did a double power squat :)
Thanks Brendan!
This man is both woodsmith and wordsmith 😂
good company + good craftsmanship = great build.
Yes indeed :)
3 videos in now, you have the best sense of humor! I've subscribed, and put my work to the side that I was trying to get done this evening.. haha
Gonna skip the base and slats and just build the surrounding part and headboard but starting this tomorrow! Needed a bed low enough for our dachshunds and not paying 1500+ for a platform bed! Awesome build!

Thanks Christian...GOOD day :)
This is inspirational (if this is an English word, I'm Dutch). Great idea. Maybe someday I will be just as creative. Thank you.
Hey Frits...it most certainly is :)
Heard Johnny talk about this last week and finally got to watch it...so...here I am...a brand new subscriber to your channel.
Hey Stanley...welcome aboard! Hope you dig some of the other videos as well :)
I enjoy your kind of humor so much! Thanks man!
Thanks Markus :)
Oh and I'm a God this is for you for doing a beautiful job for making a note💙💙💙.
Super funny at the end brother. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks Scoop ;)

How are the base and the platform joint ? Is it just the glue ??
Super clean idea Chris and Johnny. Well done
Thanks Andrew
Thanks Andrew!

one could say.....happy?
Chris Salomone haha that's better!
Beautiful build and cool collaboration.
Thanks Cammie
I don't know what it is about your voice but I could listen to you all day. Have you ever thought of recording audiobooks?
Hey MrD. I've had a few people mention that. I haven't thought about it - but I don't think I'd be good at it. I'm not the greatest reader :)
First timer! not wanting to sound creepy, your voice is great for voiceover
Congrats Chris!
I like you Chris! You are the one who’s gotten me interested in furniture building! I recently built my first piece. It was a three legged stool. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks Arvid...that's really cool :)
@@Foureyes.Furniture good day do you have a plan for this beauty
Nice project, brother.
Thanks Travis
This project was great. I enjoyed the collab.
Thanks Andrew
Very nice unique project. Could you add more to the vase or feet to make this a little higher?
very good guys ❤
You're doing a great job🥰.
You are good at building when you made that video blank that making up that no tendo switch you did a beautiful job at it
Beautiful build! I love how you embraced the plywood layering into your design.

Thanks!
hey Chris, had you thought about recessing every second board? i think that would have looked spectacular. might be a bit inpractical though.
yeah...it would have looked cool. Might have been a pain to finish :)
that would be hell :D
Nice build! The leds are a nice touch too.
Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for a collab :)
It was a good time :)

I'd have to see the whole thing to really say. It kind of depends on the base, the table top, etc...but the beams themselves are pretty rigid
Nice !!!!
You could use FastCaps on those exposed screw faces. Although how y’all did it looks good.
Those were Fast Caps...but we liked the look of the screw so we left it. Plus we knew we were going to be taking it apart since we had to photo shoot it in my living room :)
Chris Salomone fair enough. Great build !!!!
Thanks Woody
immediately subscribed 😂
Appreciate it.
Badass!
Thanks :)
nice job man 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks :)
Looks Great Chris. How many sheets of Plywood did you need for this project?
Thanks William. 7 :)
You have a good voice for the voice over, have you ever thought about maybe doing a podcast?;)
I think about it every Thursday morning :) Modern Maker Podcast
Chris Salomone been listening since the beginning.
I like the flow of your videos, inspired by giaco whatever
Thanks...nah - he is cool and I like his stuff - but our similarities pretty much end with our logos :)
Awesome!
That was so cool I want to build that
go for it yeyo :)
So did Johnny sleep on the floor until you made the bed for him ;) Chris, again, always great storytelling. You are a master at what you do. Thanks for sharing!
hahah....of course not! I put him up in the Murphy Dog bed I did for Rockler a couple months back :-P
I loved the LED idea!
Awesome build, and clever comment at the end!👍
Thanks Dustin :)
This video is responsible for the plywood shortage
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful your job.. congratulations!
Does anyone know what kind of screws those are and the drill bit that recesses them so nicely? Thank you
Fast Caps
Chris Salomone thank you and great vids
The ending was great
Cool very nice.
Love the build ! Curious as too how heavy those "sides" were ?
the heaviest longest pieces probably way about 40lbs
Chris Salomone thanks!!
How much did you spend on plywood total ?
Beautiful
Nice job)
I love his voice 😍😍
You're doing a very good job on this project and making this bed💖💙
Haha definitely had to go back and listen to the last minute again with the new perspective in mind.
Great, great build and video. I might actually do this one. I just wonder if it would stand up to the ruckus sexy time.
I think it'll be ok :)

Best bed style

saw 'kid b' - congratulations are in order. For some reason, I thought you already had 2 kiddos. All the best!
