Great video again we use drag sticks we call them when there no other sticks handy we cut one about inch so thick cut tip on one side and jam it in ground a few inches and set snear on that bar rest off size and shape yer snears are good some times we use a 1 inch chin up stick rite under snear

Found most rabbit Activity is around a marsh or bog and with the tall grass the trails are easy to see. Also in some places you can use a stick that would tangle up so the rabbit can get in away from where crows and hawks will get at it. Much the same as a drag set for coyotes !

Well a good start would be to rub your snare on a evergreen tree to stop the scent and shine of the snare. Tie your snare closest to the stick as you can. Saves on rabbit wire and helps with the breaking of your snare wire. As for more great snare ideas watch the Newfoundland ghost wolf on RUclips. He's got really good snaring videos. Great video and good job by the way 👉👍👍👈

It’s been burned in my head by my pop to always rub my snares on a tree ! Thanks for the tips !

Great video buddy . You need your snares on sticks pushed into the ground or heavier so the rabbits can’t run off with it. Also using a chin lifter works well buddy , a stick about as big as a pencil or a little bigger directly under your snare about 2” below it will make them lift their heads and direct them in to your snare .

For sure need heavier sticks ! I used a couple chin up sticks there that was one of the first things I was taught. More rabbit vids to come , can only get better from here I suppose !

I'm no expert either, but I have heard a lot of guys around here use a "chin up" stick under the snare ... just a small twig stuck up directly under the snare to make sure the bunnies keep their heads up and go through the snare instead of ducking underneath it.
gotta love the weather here on the island though... LOL

Rabbits love birch tips, if you tell your snare on a birch tree, almost always you will get one.

I find it's a good idea to have the wire short from the stick to the eye of the slip when it's tailed. When the rabbit pulls the wire tight to it's neck there is a long piece of wire easy to kink and then burst. I try to keep it shorter so it won't kink so easy. This stupid 18 gauge copper wire is like cotton. Just an idea that might help. All the best with your rabbit catching.

When I puts on stick across I tie down one end with stainless steel wire stick ain’t going no where and I break off the evergreen branches or spruce for making gates instead of sticks works wonders less time at setting I allways looks for signs of hares feeding on the trail to make sure something on it other than that alll good 👍 I also pops sap bubbles and use that to take the scent away and I rubs it on my hands 😅
