Thanks Eddy. Pet Shops Boys have been the soundtrack to my life for over 35 years now, since I was a kid. They are still releasing new music and performing concerts after more than 40 years. The type of music is synth-pop and it was very prevalent in the 80s. The song is about the boys from the rougher parts of the city getting together with the posh girls back in the 80s. According to Neil Tennant (the singer/writer) it's "about rough boys getting a bit of posh."
I was away at school when this came out. It was on constantly. I am still not sick of it. More than a few of my roommates thought of this "their" song.
Absolutely one of the best songs from the "new wave" era. The Pet Shop Boys transcend generations. Thanks for the reaction. I grew up listening to this song (and others), during my college days. Brings back so many memories.
You were basically right. Although the song has a few meanings, it is mainly about the "lower class" east end Boys trying to get with an "upper class me" West end girl.
@@theConquerersMama I have seen every concert live since the late 90s… even met them a few times after the concerts… they always go out to meet their fans who stay around after the concerts.
@@theConquerersMama They are very gracious and cool. Neil is very proper and eloquent and Chris is goofy and fun, joking constantly. They are as they appear in the videos and interviews.
Curious do they talk much during their shows? I know they are very performance art focused and tend to let the work speak for itself? Do they do much "breaking the 4th wall"? Perhaps that depends or is reflective of the era they are in? Cheers

You should hear their song, "It's a Sin".

Love this song...such a vibe! I'm 65 and try to listen to this when I remember.
It’s very catchy lol
Saw them on tour this year, fantastic! It's a sin is a classic song by them.
They are still amazing, aren't they?
I envy seeing them in person.

@@marekzee wow. That is fantastic.
It's always cool to hear when artists are good to their fans. Even over time.
