  • 'Cheddar Gorge is not only one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks, but also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the newly formed Mendip Hills National Landscape
The Gorge boasts awe-inspiring cliffs and extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves, plus many fascinating secrets about our prehistoric ancestors. It is also an international centre for caving and rock climbing.'

Tip: Start your trip at Gough's cave, followed by a short 10 min video at Beyond the View. Then head to the Museum of Prehistory. After that, check out Cox's Cave and Jacob's Ladder and Lookout Tower. End your day with a hike to Clifftop Walk. It's a great way to see the sights and get some exercise.
We also opted to park in front of the Ticket and Information Centre. And remember to come in early (9am) to get the best parking spot.
