  • We grabbed the kiddos and spent a weekend down by the Frio River near Concan, Texas, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. With camping out of the question due to social distancing requirements in the area, we decided to rent a cabin for the night. Many places were completely booked but we managed to find this three bedroom, two bath cabin at the Indian Springs Lodge which is hosted by River Rim Resort. This was just what we needed to feel like we got away from it all without leaving too many of the comforts of home behind. The river was a short drive from the cabin and the Ram Rebel proved to be invaluable for hauling us and all of our gear to where we wanted to be and very comfortably. Follow us as we ford the water crossings in the Ram Rebel and tube our way down the lazy Frio River. Hopefully this will inspire some of you to get out and enjoy the amazingly clear waters of the Frio.

I’m an old man born in Uvalde right down the road. I look at the film of y’all in low dirty water. The Frio never used to look like that. It was always running faster, crystal clear and several feet deeper. It was a lot safer too. Not nearly as many money grabbers commercializing the hell out of a once pristine river. I am blessed to remember the swing at Neal’s almost 50 years ago, and the 2 diving boards. Tubing from 1st crossing to Neal’s in 2 hours and Never having to walk a single foot. Progress is what “they”call it. It brings tears to my old eyes to see it now. My warning to everybody is to keep your face out of the water and don’t get it in your mouth’s.

Sad that it's been low in recent times based on what you've seen. We still think this is incredibly clean compared to some of the other rivers in Texas (see: ruclips.net/video/N0EFfQxvbxk/видео.htmlsi=3AEGOjKZFk4IVzha ). And there are still areas along it that are much deeper than here. But definitely low on this particular weekend. Thanks for watching and chiming in! I love getting local insight to the areas we've been. Happy trails!

We liked it there so much that we went back this past weekend. This time we were walking distance to the rope swing. It was a lot of fun!

Tell Jessica her weak ass fire wouldn't even deter mosquito's! Once all the virus craziness settles down we need a real camping trip: Essentials....500 beers per person, chainsaws (yes plural), Farmer John's sausage. Optional: Nice DJ speakers, tents, sleep

So when you go down the river for a hour or so how do you get back to where you started? Is there like a van to bring you back if you go a long distance?

There's private companies that bus that can have tube rentals and can take you back. We just supplied our own tubes and didn't go so far that we couldn't just walk back in like 15-20 minutes or so. The area we were at also had a trail and parking areas so that we could walk back along the creek

I haven’t seen anything too much deeper than this but that might have changed with the rain they’ve had.

@@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy I plan to go to Garner State Park pretty soon. Frio Rio is awesome from what I've heard. Crystal clear spring water.
