Hi! Sorry for the delay, this episode should have been out 2 weeks ago. However, I had problems translating it into English and it took me much longer than usual. I hope you liked it anyway!
The thing I hate most about Spain in vic 3 is that its so neglected that they start in a worse position than they were in historically, for example slavery, it should be the same as for GB, no slavery in the main land, but yes for the colonies, yet for Spain its active making landowners and the church imposible to break until too late. Same goes for the lack of universities and the lack of any kind of industry, also late in tech. Gibraltar is historical, but as its a treaty port GB doesnt get any tarifs from you either and you need to buy from then to do anything, you are completelly fucked in every front.
@@lightworker2956 technically they would have except for the many civil conflicts and the Absolutism of Fernando VII, the majority of the ex-colonies were pretty weak and centralized in a few big cities, if Spain held a foothold in the main contingent, then it would be alt-history.
the influence of the British in the creation of this game can be noticed by the fact that you mentioned here, even today they don't tolerate their the former rivals having any kind of influence or power in the medias that are of their control
Why didnt you go for Corn Laws? Grain starts at +26% and you have mercantilism. You just need to press 1 button (focus exports on grain) and instantly trigger corn laws. Also, cavalry is bad. A 50/50 infantry/arty army is the optimal offensive army while 100% infantry is optimal for defense. Cavalry is expensive and useless.
Why didnt you go for Corn Laws - I usually do it right away, on this video I restarted the approach several times to have a good advisor. And I just forgot :D All in all, I could add information about it in the montage. Like I said in the video. I use cavalry only in armies that are supposed to make landings. This significantly accelerates the pace of capturing provinces, and this is what I care about with such armies. 100% infantry in the army disagree. Such an army is burned out without any problem. It will play maybe 1-3 battles, but then there is no manpower in it.
Some people consider Corn laws to be cheesy, or to be so powerful that they're a "bypass a part of the game" button. Therefore I don't mind seeing a playthrough without it being used.
So, leverage; the biggest way to pull people into your bloc peacefully is economic influence. Export a lot to them, get investment rights, build buildings etc. The new power bloc embassy diplo in 1.8 also massively boosts it. Basically, build in them until they can't say no. And then you just have the timed interaction for the sovereign empire that lets you vassalise members.
If you’re playing a Nation like Spain, I’d spend more time incorporating states from puppets by annexing them if they have free population, especially if you have a labour problem like you did late game. Aside from the obvious mechanisation of industry.
Here I planned an internal migration from my puppets to Spain, I did it a bit too late. On the test game I didn't have this problem and I didn't appreciate doing the migration early.
As you've opened Victoria to yourself, I urge you to play Herat in Afghanistan region. Unlike other Afghani states, it has unique bonus for forming it. Besides, its starting position quite rough and whole region is pretty poor, thus challenging. I played as Herat and enjoyed the playthrough due to challenges that game gives you since day 1.
@@lookasetbella just played as Kafiristan, even better candidate for Afghanistan. I did no allies run, and it was pretty interesting. I wont spoil the main funny event, that occurs in the first years (hint - you king will change). Apart from that, it is easy to pass laws that usually cause struggle, because you have 26k pops. And because of this you can get rid of slavery, serfdom and traditionalism before 1840
Coming from the infamous HOI4, never able to see my industry's growth in my game as just mechanics and always thinking about the "development level" of places, I thought Victoria II was the right fit for a next step. So I watch this video. Some things from 3 have to overlap with II, right? Too bad I wouldn't be able to predict or maneuver around most of these mechanics 💀
17:30 you want civilised country’s in the Power bloc. You want to annex land from uncivilised/unrecognised powers. Just hover on their rank, that will tell you to conquer or vassalise. If they are civilised, a larger power is better, but still worth to get small ones. Then it’s up to you if you want the land directly.
i tried this many times. but i had an issue. my SoL was always way higher than my puppets. so i take so much people away from them. and they make no money after taht because they just dont have workforce!
You should've put transfer subject on north peru along with liberate south peru and iquicha. that way the other two countries will aggregate with your puppet into a single peru subject.
You're right, but in the past it was enough to have one and a larger country was formed there. I'm sure of it because I did it on streams on my Polish channel

I think its a good idea for european powers, to first take zulu and then borneo every time... I even did it as greece. You will just drown in money every time
8:40 The US flag looks to be the Presidential seal. America is an interesting nation because we have some legacy old world aspects like heraldry due to how stable of a nation we've been for so long. It's weird to think about, but the US is really one of the first nation states in the world, completely removed from divine right or feudalism, instead garnering legitimacy through ideals like the Social Contract. Wish more Americans were aware how special of a nation we were.
It's because of the AI it uses with 11labs. I seriously copied my brother and girlfriend's voice and they sound 100% like them. My voice is yes 60% similarity of the original. I use AI because it's faster than recording my comment from scratch

Looks great, just got Vicky and learnt the mechanics, so imma try Spain, thanks so much!
@0:55 To be fair, if paradox would give Spain any individual event, it would probably be a civil war. So I guess it's better that way.
XD like in EU4 :D
In fact I think at the start date spain is having the first carlist revolt which was a civil war for the throne so yeah.
Paradox taking care and making countries somewhat unique beyond the initial situation? Challenge level impossible.

Fair points, but in-game you can immediately start a reconquest of South America. I don't think they were in a position to do that historically.
@@lightworker2956 Yeah thats true too
I would also like to add that Spain doesn't have colonization institution is just insane.
@@lightworker2956 technically they would have except for the many civil conflicts and the Absolutism of Fernando VII, the majority of the ex-colonies were pretty weak and centralized in a few big cities, if Spain held a foothold in the main contingent, then it would be alt-history.
Colonial offices give -5% *per level* of colony institution. So it can be up to -25%
So it scales further. I didn't notice it in the tooltip.

He accidentally named the power block “The empire I will never know” 😂
Spanish speakers having a stroke reading that power block name xD
7:39 el imperio en el que nunca se.... you're missing some words in there for it to say what you want... like el sol.
there's a character limit for the name, I imagine he just pasted it from google translate and didn't notice.
Exactly!
