I am sure, as with any RUclipsr you are no stranger to peoples hurtful comments. You are an influencer, inspiring people around the world. Your are a mother and have an adult relationship. You are self employed. You are able to travel. You take your part in the stewardship of this planet seriously. Not only are you living the dream, but you are doing responsibly and leaving good things in your path. You are building a good and responsible life, which is not at all a waste.
Often people criticise and make negative comments when you make different life choices to them because they feel threatened. I really admire you for your choices and that you had the courage to pursue a lifestyle that’s counter cultural. Don’t let the comments undermine you- it would be boring if we all thought the same way and conformed to a certain lifestyle . Hope you feel better soon - sending air hugs 🤗
There are times I feel like I wasted my life....always working a public job so we could have things. Some of those things were necessary or so we thought. We don't really need much to live a good and happy life. After almost 40 years of married life, we have finally learned that a simply life is the best. Other people mean well but please follow the path that is right for you..
You touch so many lives Lia. What you’re doing is so valuable. You’ll probably never real know the Impact you are manifesting. And I love this vlog. The intimacy was wonderful ❤
Lia, I enjoyed this vlog so much and it was exactly what I needed... Sometimes I feel like I am way behind everything. But videos like this remind me that there is one way to measure the value of our efforts: the value people receive! And I see a lot of people finding solace, calmness, example, meaning in your videos, in what you do. Thank you for that!
I had slowed my pace of life and was living slower and mindfully keeping costs low to have free time. Somehow I’ve lost my way back into the rat race again, I’m disappointed in myself, consuming and living competitively this way. I’m proud of you for staying true to yourself! 🌳
Society Puts pressure on us To do something different, To achieve more, To make more money etc. etc. Sounds to me that you have a good life. Be calm -be happy !
Omg, Lia, I feel the same! I don't have a goal right now or don't even know what I want. It's even harder because I don't know if the "traditional" stepstones, like starting a family, are for me. I think: what am I actually living for?
I am glad other people feel similar but at the same time I want all of us to feel a bit more at peace 😊 I also think we don't need to have a goal, life purpose, or "why" all the time or at all... But it can be frustrating, especially explaining it to relatives and other people... I find the most joy in making sure my everyday life reflects my values and makes me happy! Having time to rest, time in nature, spending time with friends, and so on 😊
You don't need to have a family, that's not something mandatory. Having kids for something to do is what most people do but it's pointless in itself anyway. We don't have a point or a purpose, we're just here because someone had sex. Cats and dogs etc don't bother about an imaginary purpose, they just live, they eat, sleep, rest, enjoy food, enjoy going outside etc. Why do you need to do any more?
I might not feel that I am wasting my life (although I do) but I definitely wonder if I have wasted my life. But I suppose it depends what you want. I was a stay at home mum (I have 5 children - 4 between 29 and 34 and one 19) and I have a disability so have barely worked outside the home. It's hard to know whether I am satisfied. I suppose if I weigh it all up I probably am.
thank you for discussing. i believe it's society's "hustle culture" making you feel that way, success should be determined by the individual. looks like you're doing well, and when your channel gets over the 'hurdle' of being small it will be more than worth it.
Hi, I'm from Finland and commenting your channel for the first time :) So happy to see you're reading the Desert Flower by Waris Dirie. I read it a couple of years ago and think everyone should read it, firstly because it's a great book but also to raise awareness. Other than that, I enjoy watching your videos and can relate to many things you're going through. Keep up the good work!
You're not alone in questioning if you're wasting your life. I feel like many people, even those with traditional jobs with full time hours, feel the same way. I know I do. Am I making the right choices with my time? Am I contributing enough to my family?
This video is so appropriate for me as I'm on day 2 of a viral infection with sore throat! And do you know what's funny? I've also been feeling a bit down today wondering if I'm wasting my life, except my situation seems to be a bit opposite of yours. I was just hired for a managerial role in my corporate company and I'm dreading it. I start in two weeks. It makes me wonder if I made the wrong decision. I've wanted more than anything to live as simply as possible and just write (I'm also a writer and am afraid this new job will take away my ability or desire to write). I think wondering where your life is going can be scary. For me, it's like there are so many possibilities and I'm trying to take hold of every possibility so I can''t say, "I didn't try that." But deep down, you know what makes you happy and feel fulfilled. That's when you know you've made the right decision or are at least moving in the right direction.
I had the same cold and laryngitis this week! Had absolutely no voice the beginning of the week -had to use a text-to-speech app on my phone to talk to my nanny kiddos! Hope you are feeling much better these days! :)
What is really a meaningful life? I think, it's about helping other people and being someone, that you want the world around to be. You match this things pretty good. And you're going to create a book, aren't you? It's (and your channel) a huge impact in our world and in lives of other people, in my life, for example :))
I also get this feeling. I think it s because I just tell to myself “well that s life: that s only THIS. Nothing else, nothing so incredible like we used to imagine as young people perhaps”. Wake up, live, sleep. From birth to death. Nothing else :)
Well done for getting your vlog out despite feeling unwell. As usual, you come to us as your authentic self and I appreciate that. It is something so few people are afraid to do. I'm wondering whether your clarity about your true self and having made decisions about your goals, purpose and the way you want to live is a help when people make hurtful comments. Recently, I read 2 great books about getting out of your comfort zone, which I found very useful and inspiring: Death by Comfort by Paul Taylor, and The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter. Currently, I'm reading The Comfort Zone by Kristen Butler. I'm loving this book, and rather than being contradictory to the others, it is complimentary. The author says that you are capable of achieving the life you dream of if you work from within your comfort zone and your natural personality, inclinations, passions etc. I was sceptical at first but I think the author is on to something. I hope you are feeling your healthy, energetic self again and really enjoying your new book. Take care and know we appreciate you.
That book sounds great and is exactly what I have been thinking about during the past months... To find a balance of growing, changing, and achieving dreams without the need of pushing and sometimes punishing ourselves outside the comfort zone. I'll put it on my "want to read" list! 😊 also thank you for all the other parts of your comment 😊
It must be hard to keep a RUclips blog relevant and interesting so it pays and you derive a reasonable, or at least sufficient income to live off. Perhaps that in itself is stressful or makes you wonder how long it’ll last? It’d be easy to jump from there to wondering if you are wasting you time or what’s your goal in life, if any.
Yes, I guess... It is hard and so I always try to figure out for myself if this is the right career and for how long... And I think as soon as other people start to question my worth and reasons and life it becomes hard to believe in myself... Even though looking back I am super happy about the decisions I made and therefore want to continue being self-employed. We will see 😊
Oh no Vitamin D deficiency. I bet I have that, you go out more than me. We only have our face and hands showing and I've been wearing gloves all the time. It's still cold here I don't think there'll be a summer.
Yes, that is a real problem after this winter and spring... So I think about 40% of people (with similar winter and spring experience) have a vitamin D deficiency right now 😊
How DARE anyone tell you that you are wasting your life?! I think that all of us have the right to live as we wish as long as we cause no harm. Sadly many people are afraid to do this and perhaps feel envy and so they criticise. I live in Western Australia and would love to simplify my life even more, I have been slowly working towards that. I watched my mother work as a nurse for decades helping others and exhausting herself, putting off everything she wanted to do until later, and then she got diagnosed with cancer and died quickly, she never got to do those things. I swore I would never make that mistake and I think I've done ok. Many people buy into the capitalist rat race, and for what? I feel like it's brainwashing - or good marketing... you must have this bag! Or these shoes etc etc... I think many people see the damage capitalism and mass production and greed has done to our planet and want to change that. Let's hope a lot of humanity can change the world for the better going forward ❤ Edited: My bad typing 😂

Yes! This! Slow living key ❤❤❤❤
You are very wise. I am 65 and only now realise that less is more 👌

when the whole world is wrong it must be you... right??? not right! you are doing it right!
Get better soon! And life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy - 50 pages are often enough to tell if it’s time to move on to a different book

You have to do what you feel is best for yourself and no one should make you feel bad for what you are doing now.
Yes, thank you! Now I just have to make myself really believe that 😊

Love watching you, you do not appear fake in any way. 😊
It is always great to hear and follow you. Tnx for sharing!😊

@@ecofriendlia I agree, there is no purpose and you don't need to do anything than just be.
@@lizb4156 Thank you. I'm in the process of acknowleding this as well.

Thank you! And I absolutely agree that hustle culture is a big part of this problem 😊
try to be grateful, help people on your own way. nice video!

I watched that movie maaany years ago and cried so much 😢
I am done with the book now and I really liked it (I also read another book by her and loved it too!)
. maybe we have to get away from thinking about what society expects from us . we have to live our own dream .

It's from the RUclips library and it is called Rains Of Meghalaya by Hanu Dix 😊
