I was on a Swiss Airlines training course at Zurich Airport in 2004 during the Euros. We stayed at one of the airport hotels for a couple of weeks (Mövenpick) The hotel was used by flight crews from all over Europe, and it was great watching the matches in the hotel bars with fans of the other countries. When England beat Switzerland 3-0, we even had the Swiss fans coming up to us, shaking our hands and saying 'well done'! Fabulous atmosphere!
Hi Nieve! I liked your story better too! I live in the US, and you could hear the collective sigh of relief from England all the way here after that last penalty kick! 😊. Go Chocolate!!!❤🍫
I'm so happy that Trent got his time to shine, even for 5 bloody minutes in being on the pitch. The lad had the most chances created out of any midfielder up until Southgate dumped him. And is the defending any better without him? "If I speak, I am in big trouble.."
In DACH (German speaking countries), people tend to ring a bell or shake their keys when their team has a corner. It's kinda like a jinx/crossing fingers that their team scores. At least that's what I learned since moving here and going to stadiums all over.
Ringing the bell is no different than crossing one's fingers, toes or anything else superstitious that is a form of trusting in protection from something or someone besides the Lord who created you to trust in Him.
Many weeks later still stings i went to düsseldorf sang my heart for my country by the fan curve but also couldn't be more proud of my country 🇨🇭 thanks for going to my country again hope they're will be another FC Basel video and thank you for being very respectful and kind to everyone
Running around the corner of an empty street at the end had me laughing out loud. Why on earth hasn't some mainstream TV producer seen her potential and signed her up?
Excellent vlog, Nieve! Swiss history has apparently been way more eventful than I thought it would be. I like that you're always respectful about all the fans of the teams you cover in your videos!
I was NOT expecting you walking around my neighbourhood this weekend... I live between the Letzigrund and where you watched the viewing at Helvetiaplatz. I go past both on nearly a daily basis.... Thanks for coming to our lovely town!
dont know where your videos went from my feed, but they are back for the last two or three videos, and its a breath of fresh air . you do great stuff. just appreciation
As soon as you said "serious story", I knew I was getting an amazing humorous tale with some possible chance of a tiny bit of truth. Did not disappoint
I'm English and live in Basel. I watched the game with two English friends in a great football bar here called "Didi Offensiv". We were the only non-Swiss there. Never any danger, after the result, but awkard being surrounded by disappointment.
The Tobler family's mansion is at the top of the hill behind the Zwingli Cathedral, everything costs a PACKET in Zurich, but it is a very beautiful city. My Dad used to play for a cricket team in Doncaster called Grasshoppers ..... Crickets/Grasshoppers geddit (same things).
Hopefully you did get some chocolates on the QT. Excellent presentation despite the raining cows. No bells were harmed in the making of this production.
I remember going to watch Leeds play Grasshoppers in UEFA cup 2001. a 2.1 victory, but my memory was of a very run down stadium, so I can understand the need for this one building a few years later. Funnily enough it never stopped raining the whole time we were there too!
Being Croatian, we have kind of a rivalry (or so we wish to think) with England and I'm not a fan of England and their performances at this tournament, but I guess it would be kinda cool for Nieve, being half Italian-half English to have seen Italy win the Euro at Wembley and potentially England winning the Euro (their first ever) in Germany (England's rival). So, for all the decent English fans (and not for the offensive and annoying ones) - may it come home! The Harry Kane curse will be broken and he will finally lift the trophy. 🙂
What a brilliant video. Not sure how you kept a lid on it when that final pen went in, but big up to you Nieve. Can you please go to Amsterdam for the semi final? 🤣🤣🤣
its so amazing how she's sooooooo respectful of the people around her. so considerate, wish there were more people like you nieve, it would be great
Especially since she is for england lmao
Make yourself one of them and you’ll be doing a great deal towards that wish. Respect
Wow thats enough simping for me for one day
i think sh'is with the owner
The media love to depict England as being the worst scum of the world, make your own mind up and see it for yourself
Who ever came up with the idea of sending an Englishwoman to Switzerland during the Euros is a genius, and we love you!
Stuntpegg?
Netherlands next?
Netherlands ...and take Karl Pilkington with you.
@@Amethyst_Friend I thought a sponser sent her over, just like when she was sent over to watch F1 in Barcelona.
She sent herself

You'll never sing that.
Plus, her story of the Grasshoppers was better than the real story. And we learned the history of Chocolate - what more could be in a video...?
Gravy's better, Gravy's better, Gravy's better than fondue! Gravy's better than fondue!
Hate speech for Wednesday "Wensleydale cheese is better than Edam cheese"

@@VintageBall19 so very true
@@BenBebbington Also true.
To bring in some British music that could match:
1:24 "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies"
2:12 "Sweet like chocolate"
Haha, brilliant stuff. Or for 2:12 “chocolate (choco choco)”
@@stuntpeggnieve Oooh, how my brain succesfully secluded that one for so many years until now... 😂
@@stuntpeggnieve I Believe In Miracles, by Hot Chocolate. We might need that miracle in the next (and next) game.
You had me with that Grasshopper story. Love your sense of humour
Would be great for them to put that in the official history as a gag.
They are Swiss so it could be true!
Switzerland has the oldest continental european clubs... _grasshoppers_ and _young boys_ are simply british students' clubs from the 19th century.
That’s the kind of story you tell your nephew and then he repeats it 10 years down the line with utter confidence, generating a myth forever.
Thats the way to be a supporter and respect everyone. Great upload
The Taylor Swift/Cruel Summer gag.🤣🤣🤣 ... I see you, funniest person on the internet.👀
😂💙
Filmmaking wise, the shot of the empty swing swinging after Switzerland lost is pretty outstanding. Keep doing what you're doing, Nieve.
Hi Nieve! I liked your story better too! I live in the US, and you could hear the collective sigh of relief from England all the way here after that last penalty kick! 😊. Go Chocolate!!!❤🍫
No sighs of relief from this Englishman after the last kick.
Plenty of yelling and screaming though.
I wonder when we'll make a substitution?
Knowing us, tomorrow!
Love it.
Please go to Amsterdam next.

Agreed. While Toney’s PK was stone cold, I love Trent’s massive exclamation point! It spoke for itself in multiple ways… 😊
We'll ignore all the loose passes, poor positioning and his inability to hold onto the ball in midfield.
rj better
@@GamingRobioto Standard English play. It's designed to sucker the other team into thinking they have a chance of winning ...
Everyone scapegoated Trent as the problem so Southgate listened and after dropping Trent, England have been playing worse…

There have been enough weird, arcane laws throughout history that every bit of that story apart from the "life sentence" was plausible.
