    Blackfishing is a word used to accuse someone of pretending to be black or mixed-race. I personally don’t feel that wearing a hairstyle, or plumping of the lips, getting bbl’s or anything that is considered a “black thing” an issue. A lot of black women get bbl’s, wear lace front wigs, and plumping lips so what is that considered? Now purposely painting your skin a different skin tone to mock someone’s race is totally out of line💯.

    It’s like saying folks are culturally appropriating blonde hair who isn’t white 🤷‍♂️

  • @iammiab66
    @iammiab66 2 года назад +10

    And a lot women of other races are naturally born with big lips, big butts, big hips, and darker skin. There’s other cultures besides the black culture that wear braids as a hairstyle. At the end of the day it’s just hair. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    One more comment, I’ve also seen some black women wear blonde hair and blue eye contacts sooooo. 😂

    As the first dude to comment. Most everyone in my house is a long hair, and there have definitely been times in my past where I was judged for my white dude ponytail or piercings. When I was young, I kept it short just to get established, and so no boss could use my hair as an excuse. That was almost 20 years, back, too, in the 'no visible tattoos ' days. But once everyone one knew my rep for bringing good to the company, no one mentioned when I grew my hair out and got my lip pierced (it probably helped that I was/am a youth worker.)
    Courage to your son! He'll find the right job for him, it is out there!

    I don't have kids. But if my daughter wanted me to copy her in hair style. I would because my daughter wanted to do it together. At the end of the day "my body my choice" or did we all forget that movement already?

    And I do want to add as a historian type person, that all cultures have some sort of braid or dread in it. People didn't have time to be sitting around messing with their hair so they did styles that stayed in place for a long time and kept them from having to tend to it. Now we're all just sharing different ways of doing it.

    People are way too sensitive these days. I'm 45 and have been sun tanning since I was a teen and never did it with malice. When I went through Cosmetology school, I truly learned to appreciate ethnic hair of all types. The time, skill and beauty was appreciated but in public these days people don't care why.

    Jai, most of my friends my entire life have been black or Cuban or Puerto Rican and these last two years have caused them to defriend me just cus I don't agree with their racist ways so it's refreshing to see someone who can laugh at comedy no matter the race. You're a rare breed these days and a special soul! I'll always support someone like you because you make this world a better place.

    That’s like my ex husband had a step father from Guam and grew up eating a lot of rice and Asian food because of that and ate Asian food more so then any other… but he was white, so some would say he’s “culturally appropriating” Asians by “acting” like he knew so much about Asian food as a white man, but in reality he grew up with it.

    When the Wayans brothers did the movie White Chicks, nobody cared that they were in full whiteface...blackface certainly does have a place in comedy...look at Gene Wilder in the 1976 movie, Silver Streak with Richard Pryor...he was in full blackface, portraying many black stereotypes of the era & it was hilarious...C. Thomas Howell in Soulman...full blackface for almost the entire movie...hilarious...whiteface, blackface, brownface, name a color & add face to it & it's got comedy potential...nothing is outside the reach of comedy...NOTHING...as far as KK goes, she does wear styles of things that are considered to be 'black', but so what? She married a black guy, has mixed kids, did she 'culturally appropriate' them too?Bo Derrick was the first white woman I ever saw in corn rows in the movie 10...nobody accused her of culturally appropriating her hair & that was long before anyone knew there was a KK in the world...she brought corn rows to white women...Axle Rose has done corn rows from time to time too, nobody cared...

Love ya!!!♥️♥️♥️🙏

    I wish people understood that many races had braids and dreadlocks. The vikings used braids and even beads in their hair and beards, for example.

  • @kevinprzy4539
    @kevinprzy4539 2 года назад +1

    Hairstyles isn’t exclusive to one race, vikings braided their hair the same way Africans did, I’m not a fan of blackface,whiteface or yellowface because it’s just plain disrespectful but hair is a whole different thing.

    Blackfishing is about appropriation. Big difference from appreciation or even trends. Someone like Kim appropriates/mimicks black culture, while profiting from it. ⛔
    Blackface is also always wrong. ⛔

    It must be hard for Kanye because their both famous so everything is so out in the open. That makes it harder to move on and 4 kids together. And he isn't ready to move on. I have a feeling that they will get back together later in life. Maybe in 10yrs. I'm just guessing lol

    I see this as a compliment to a culture. When I was young my mother bought a woven bag at a swap meet, a couple years later she still used the bag as her everyday purse. An African woman approached us and told my mother that she felt so good seeing her with that bag because it was made in her village in Africa. She explained the weave and gave my mother the background and knowledge of her village. That is what we all should be like cherish other cultures.
