You could call this trio the Egghead Trio...LOL... All of those guys look like Ivy League professors. And all of them are definitely PhD level jazz masters. Love it! Been a Ulysses Owens fan since he was with Christian McBride.
These guys just destroyed! What a trio. How is it that I'm just now finding Ulysses Owens, and then stumbling into this particular trio. So, 2/27/2022 has been a good day for me in the jazz world. I'll watch for any/all of these guys coming through town.
Incredible! Thank you Gentlemen! The trio working on all cylinders sounds to me as when positive energy comes together creating such joy! Thanking you again.
ruclips.net/video/-LT42SEXNmc/видео.html&ab_channel=AhmadJamal-Topic Check this out, I could be wrong but I think this is where that arrangement comes from!
I could detect no obvious relationship between what the bass player and the piano player were doing. Or, indeed, the tune. Modern jazz will for ever be beyond me.
This depends on the listeners knowledge and theory of jazz. Knowledge of chords, scales, lines, form and experience, etc. This is pretty standard stuff really. Well played and executed mind you👍
Man what a killer trio! I would just listen to y’all play standards all day!

Owens is a Juilliard professor.

This is excellent, just absolutely tearing up this tune.
Truly great, all!!!
(Extra big up to Ulysses for the most musical drum solo I've heard in ages.)
GREAT arrangement.... such super rhythmic contrast! Much respect to all!!!!!
The way they transition to the bridge is so slick!
If you listen to Ahmad Jamal’s Cherokee from at the Pershing volume 2 you will hear the influence on the bridge.

Love it! I recognise the arrangement from the Christian Mcbride album “out here” which Ulysses played on.

The B section as a waltz goes back to Ahmad Jamal (at least that's where I know it from!)

Ok, so basically they are just a technical death metal band that doesn't use distortion.
😂😂
How the F do they keep track of where they are in such a long song
Yes

720p tho :/
It’s ok if I get bald because of bebop I don’t have to waste time maintaining my hair I can just practice bebop all the way
I guess the original full Theme was too simple and of little relevance to be played EXPLICITLY.
Bebop Is great but it makes you bald :/

Brown Paul Davis Paul Jones Brenda
You don't need hair to swing!
💀
Too slow to my taste.
You HAVE to be bald to be in this band. It helps to need glasses.

What are you looking for?
Yeah could you elaborate on that? I am actually interested to hear about ur thoughts
I can barely hear the bass tbh
