    Great choices. Had no idea there was a Japanese garden near the museum. Go to list now. Pilsen was once a neighborhood of Polish, Irish, Lithuanian and Ukrainian a long time ago. Grew up there. Thank you for reminding me about Andersonville, loved the bookstores and restaurants there.

    Going to visit Chicago for the first time in March 4th but only for 4 days. I like your video on the tourist part of Chicago hope I have the time to see all of that, now I wish I had more days to visit all these places 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @JamesandLaurent
      @JamesandLaurent  5 лет назад +1

      4 days is a good time to hit all the main spots and even some of the more off-the-beaten path ones. Several of the spots are right downtown next to each other and can be bundled together. We hope you enjoy your visit.

      @@JamesandLaurent Chicago is the third largest and third most populated city in America yet the least well known of the three. It has a vibe and culture that New York and Los Angeles can’t touch.

    Nice job! So glad you included Garfield Park Conservatory! Now you have to do one featuring the neighborhood of Beverly in the 19th ward which includes one of the few castles (Givens castle 103rd/Longwood Drive) in the US as well as a number of homes by architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Burley Griffith. Easily accessible via Metra Rock Island Suburban Branch.

    Hi. Great videos. I'm interested in finding out about Haitian culture in Chicago. Are there many spots with the history of Dusable and Haitian communities living in the area? Thanks.

    • @JamesandLaurent
      @JamesandLaurent  5 лет назад +1

      There is a museum of African American history and a museum of Chicago history , which we have never done. I suspect Dusable would be mentioned in both. Aside from that, the Haitian community is not huge in Chicago and not very visible. Nothing like New York or Montreal. Not sure we can be of much help on this. Sorry.

    1. Architecturally (is that a word?) Andersonville is typically American, imo. Swedish cuisine? Like IKEA meatballs? Thank u, next!
    2. What's this bs?
    3. I luv me some Japanese gardens. I approve! Didn't know u were bird-lovers.
    4. Huh, there was even a Greek inscription.
    5. I'm no size-queen, but isn't it rather small?
    6. Pil-sen, that's not Spanish-sounding, which means the Mexican-Americans had replaced others in the past. C' est la vie, ta panta rhei! I can't with people crying over gentrification. Deal with it!
    7. Awesome! Damn, Laurent, you creeped me out with that look. Haha!

    • @JamesandLaurent
      @JamesandLaurent  5 лет назад +3

      1. Yes, architecturally is a word. It's called an adjective :).
      2. We happen to like the 606.
      3. Where have you been? We have two entire videos about birds, one about falconry and one about the kagu of New Caledonia.
      4. Just for you, my friend!
      5. Small is beautiful. You should know :).
      6. As the name indicates, Pilsen was a Czech and Polish neighborhood initially, then Mexican, then gentrifying. Yes, the wheel turns and not everybody is happy about it.
      7. No clue what you're talking about. What's wrong with Laurent's look? We both love this T-shirt.
