- In this video, I am showing how to make “Purin“ or Japanese style Custard Pudding or in some places called as Flan. The cooking process takes no more than 30 min. plus cooling time of 2-5 hours.
In my Channel, I show step by step of alternative but authentic Japanese home cooking, which can be made with the ingredients that are easily available outside of Japan.
Ingredients for Putin (3 Portions):
Egg 2

Milk 200 ml (g)
Heavy cream 100 ml (g)
(this recipe can be made without cream, in which case use 300 ml of milk.)

I plan to make purin for my baking class, this week we have to make Japanese dishes and this looks absolutely delicious. Thank you for posting this 10 months ago man! ❤
Just like our leche flan! Delicious dessert.
yup!
When I visited Lisbon, Portugal they had these stainless steel molds for pasteis de nata that was given to me after I booked and learned how to make them awesome Portuguese pastry. The shape is similar enough to the one in your video so I'm going to try making it right now. Thanks Taiji for being awesome!
really? I got mine online, I think cups for cupcakes or something.
This is quite a bit harder than Taiji-san makes it look! The high fat milk + cream makes it more likely to set, and the conical metal forms he uses are pretty great for cooking custard. It's also super easy to overcook the egg when pouring in the hot milk/cream. So, nice work Taiji-san, but for everyone else don't worry if it doesn't work this easily for you!
I think half and half might be able to be used as a substitute for the milk and cream
as I said in the video, it did take me several tries to get it right. so its normal that you don't get it in the first try. we have to learn through try and error!
Watching from Minnesota in the US. Am originally from Scotland. I have worked in the Netherlands and also Germany before moving to the US.
Hi im from south africa. I realy love your channel. Love the japanese culture. Just wanted to say that this purin is very similar to our cremé brolé pudding here
Such as simple dessert that looks so elegant. Wonderful.
ya I agree!
I'm from a small town in the state of Kansas in the US. This is one of my favorite desserts. It is so simple with a short ingredient list but can be tricky with the technique. I do add one other ingredient and that's vanilla extract. I really enjoy your channel. I don't comment every time but do try to watch every video. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. 😊🌻
Another great video! Thanks Taili!
Wow so easy! I want to cook it now 😊 ありがとう!
Very nice and easy recipe. I like your channel a lot. Greetings from Serbia.
This looks very similar to the Swiss *Caramelköpfli*. We used to make those sometimes when I was younger, although I think they had vanilla in them. They are so delicious.
Hello! Enjoying your videos from North Carolina, U.S.A. 🇺🇸 though I grew up in Hiroshima, Japan. プッチンプリン🍮大好物でした。I am going to try your recipe for myself! 🙏
プッチンプリン is quite different, but this is the authentic Purin!
hope you like it!!
Thanks for that! cheers from Australia
I've had different versions of this, crème caramel and flan. I don't think I've ever had the Japanese version before. I look forward to trying out this recipe! Thank you from Alberta, Canada!
I just came back from Japan about a week ago and miss the food so much! Can you please make a video on how to make Izakaya Salted Cabbage with Sesame Seeds? I miss that like crazy. Pretty please! Thank you!
Looks like a good make-ahead dessert! Will have to try!
you might not get it first (I didn't either), don't get discouraged! just keep trying!
Seems like a lot of sugar but the nice thing about cooking your own food is that you can adjust or regulate the sugar to your personal preference. Definitely gonna try this as an occasional treat.
This looks sooo good and it's almost exactly like how we Latins make flan, yum! Glad to see you making a sweet dish vs. savory 😊
The Purin looks yummy 😋 Thank you for putting the recipe at the end. I'm going to make it tomorrow morning here in Arizona, USA
my pleasure!
hope yours will turn out as good as mine did!
Good job!
thank you, I try!
Yum! I will give your recipe a try, Taiji. I hope you are healthy & happy! 🙏🏽
thanx, I am healthy and happy!
hope yours will turn out as good as mine did!
@@taijiskitchen ~ I’m pleased to hear you are well, Taiji! 🌻 Yes, I hope so, too.
Thanks taiji finitely doable. Will try. Bangalore india

Looks delicious 😋 I am watching from Kentucky USA 😊
So good🥰☺️

I have to try this! Looks really similar to "Leche Asada" from my country Chile
Crème caramel! I used to love these as a kid. We can get them at our local Tesco

@@taijiskitchen Childhood in South Africa, and Tesco UK

감사합니다!
Konichiwa! Taiji O-ganki? 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️this recipe works for sure :)))
Greetings from Indonesia 🇲🇨
I believe it's very good ...
it is!
Great video! May I ask, what are the dimensions of those stainless cups?
Looks good, I enjoy custards and puddings, thank you for showing us how to make it.
At lunch today, my husband and I went to a place that sells sushi, bento meals, hibachi meals, and such.
I ordered Yaki-soba with steak, as I was eating, I told my husband I was going to ask you this..
How do you slurp your noodles without them hitting you in the face and making your glasses dirty? I wear glasses and could not seem to keep them clean if I slurped the noodles, haha! We both thought you may be amused by the question. 😊
hahaha, I am amused, lol.
I never thought of that... hmmm, idk. just instinctively?
perhaps you just have to find the right angle or the speed.
@Taiji ́s Kitchen I think so too, I'm willing to conduct such a tasty experiment! I'm certain experience is a factor as well!
Take care!
Hello! Could you please make Japanese style mayo (homemade kewpie) or Beni Shoga?
Puru puru pururin
😊
that's exactly how it's done !!! lol
I think not making scrambled eggs was the hardest part.
looks great! but I was shocked when I saw the title, because "purin" is cow's piss where I live... XDDDD
btw, this is "flan" is Spain
oh cows piss... in Spanish? that's funny!
Nice new haircut…;)
C’est la crème renversée
Now inflation is hitting everyone hard. What ‘cooking on a budget’ Japanese dishes do you recommend?
No vanilla? 😳
nope! idk but we don't put vanilla in Japanese variation.
you can add it if you want!
I was really curious about that, thank you for the explanation, and for your channel.
Isn't it flan tho?
