I had nightmares from Resident Evil Afterlife with those zombies with those octopi claws coming out of their mouths. I was fine with walking zombies like from Dawn of the Dead (1978). But the zombies from Afterlife got me good.
I had forgotten that there were zombies on the other side of the door. Too bad for JD and Rain. She saw her friend surrounded by the dead, and she couldn't help him. She sure was one tough cookie, all those times she got bitten, and she didn't turn until the end of the film. Great movie!
If we get into context with this scene, we see that, after Kaplan rebooted the red queen, the power shut down. After it reignited, all the doors in the hive unlocked unleashing the undead everywhere. Keep in mind, there are 3 ways out of dining hall B. One way is going through the containment units (Lickers), through the hallways that lead to the red queen chamber. Another way is the path leading back to the other floors in the hive. And the third way was the exit Rain and J.D. were guarding. After Rain encountered one of the zombies wondering around, JD attempted to stop the zombie several times with threats, after the zombie refused, he shot her 5 times, though she was still standing. After Rain wasted a full mag to stop her, the rest of the group returned to where Rain had fired her gun. Discovering the zombie's blood, they began to question why it was coagulated. When blood is coagulated in a being, this means they are no longer alive and this theory left the group confused. The noise Rain and J.D caused with their guns earlier, caused the undead to head toward their location following the noise and surrounding the group. During an epic battle with the undead, Alice and Matt were seperated from the group due to a unstable explosion from one of the tanks which Alice clearly warned them to WATCH THE TANKS! 🙄 . The explosion caused Alice to have a flash back causing her to remember her contact and deal with Lisa (Matt's sister) to expose Umbrella about their illegal research and experimentation. Alice being head of security knows the access codes and surveillance plans for Lisa to escape after she smuggles a sample of the T Virus (This was their deal) in return, Lisa had to promise Alice that she will bring the Umbrella Corporation down . Now back to the undead battle, Having lost Matt and Alice, JD insisted to keep moving without them. The group then reached the sealed door that required the code, and Kaplan was having trouble with the code. After many attempts inserting the code, the undead was beginning to pin down the group. J.D then desperately moves out Kaplan to insert the code himself. After he successfully inserts the code, a herd of undead pulls him back. Rain desperately tries to pull J.D out from the herd. As the zombies behind Rain, Spence and Kaplan began to close in on them, they didn't want to get sandwiched by the undead, therefore Kaplan and Spence had no choice but to pull Rain out otherwise Rain would've been pulled in as well. As they are trying to pull her out, Rain gets bit on her forearm causing her to let go of J.D. Rain letting go of J.D's arm caused J.D to fall forward making the undead dog- pile him. Leaving him behind, caused the group to be able to escape just in time before they got sandwiched. This scene ended with the undead feeding on J.D while he's still alive. This was a Great scene honestly better than the scene from Day of the dead. Something to add: Many people believe J.D was dragged into an elevator. This was not an elevator. This was the door leading to the corridor and back to the labs and stairs. This was the same door the team entered when they first arrived at Dining hall B. Its the same door J.D opened with the code but from the other side though not knowing all the zombies were led out waiting on the other side. The reason this door was the only door that was closed was because Kaplan opened it with his decreptor and closed it right after, just in case any interference was following the team. Spence, Kaplan and Rain had no choice but to run towards the hallways leading back to the red queen chamber this time followed with zombies.
@@biglez9054 the death of Captain Rhodes. Remember when he opened the door and the horde of undead pulled him after he got shot by the zombie. In my personal opinion, I think JD's death scene was much better because it seemed more realistic as the undead tried pulling him back. In terms of Captain Rhodes, the zombies seemed much slower grabbing him aka terrible acting in the 70's and 80's. What George Romero tried doing in his films such as day of the dead, dawn of the dead, and land of the dead was to expose more gore (blood and guts) and also in AMC's The Walking Dead. I'm not that much of a fan of Greg Nicatero, Robert Kirkman or George A Romero's films because his undead and gore makes me compare them to hungry lions preying on a zebra or anything of the sort. I'm more of a fan of Capcoms work with Resident evil even though George Romero worked with Capcom to inspire the first resident evil games in the 90's. What I loved about Paul Anderson's work with this movie was that he stayed LOYAL to the game because the game had no guts or ripping people's heads off like in the George a Romero films. If it were like this, then JD would've been torn apart but I just loved how the movie stayed true to the game which is why JD just had the major flesh wounds when Rain encountered him in the utility tunnels, which is something we would expect from the game. Same with Spence when he got attacked by the Licker in the station. The licker would've ripped his head off or eaten his legs off but since the movie is loyal to the game, Spence ended up just like JD, maybe a little worse.
@@MorningBear-x3x They were surrounded by zombies, you really think they would know that an elevator was occupied full of the dead? They were trying to escape as quickly as possible.

One cool thing they did here was show us who some of these people were before they became zombies. We got to see them going to work, chatting, doing their jobs. The games never do that. The T-virus provides in massive jolts both cellular growth and electrical impulses, but quiet simply it reanimates the body. @@lastdaysofspring2210 In the movie, red queen did explain that when they turned into zombies, their brain still work to respond to human's basic instinct and it was to feed. Humans are omnivores. We have some teeth for biting flesh and other set of teeth that is suitable for vegetables. So if Red queen was right, the zombies should also feed on vegetables. The T-virus provides in massive jolts both cellular growth and electrical impulses, but quiet simply it reanimates the body. The subject has the simplest of most functions, perhaps a mental memory, virtually no intelligence. They are driven by the basic of impulses, the most basic need... The need to feed.
@@michaelgrant1429 but the need to feed does not imply human flesh
@@lastdaysofspring2210 are you suggesting they toss them a big bowl of kale or something
Of course, the whole idea of zombies only feeding on humans or animals does not make sense or is realistic but I don't think audiences would take the movie seriously if the zombies suddenly started feeding on vegetables.
@@lastdaysofspring2210 The zombies in the resident evil universe eats everything, living and/or dead. Almost every human, animals, even certain plants can be infected with the virus.

I love how the zombie at 3:35 has a delayed reaction
They should have kept the rest with the same concept. Why change it up if it was so successful? That is crazy to me!! It needed to remain intimate so we can actually care about the characters also less background music would have been nice in the sequels
0:25 through 0:35 best reactions ever!!!!
