As an hypothesis-interpretation, I see this as the obsessive repression of many things and themes socially and culturally, leading to a collective psychosis.
Half of it. But yes indeed. At the other side, what is psyche, consciousness and this so called reality? Who’s dream is it? And what has free will to offer? ❤
Pretty sure this was meant to represent Jung's idea of the collective unconscious. The concept we can all draw from this collective set of imagery and archetypes from the most inner core of our psyche (or external spirituality depending on your interpretation). in this case represented as landmarks from across the world in a dreamlike form.
You are all correct. The parade is everything, yet nothing at the same time. It’s meaningless brings meaning to itself. It represents everything and nothing in the world. An unstructured amalgamation of the unconscious and conscious minds of billions creating the illusion of any kind of structure. A mindless wandering towards a place that is always just out of reach…
I think i agree. Esp with comments about collective unconscious. The businessmen happily falling off the building at 2:04 made me think about japans working class and high suicide rates /loneliness
Actually disturbing. Fantastic music and singing but I always interpreted this scene as Japanese society being overwhelmed with technology. TV head people, telephone head girls and guys...Japan was zen for thousands of years and now these appliances are parading, taking over their streets. It is kinda sad.
Brothers! The enemies march forth! We must defend our nation from this terrible threat! Today, brothers, we fight for something greater than ourselves! Now that that’s out of the way, what the frick did I just watch?
So manybquestions are raised when the parade heads down a real street. Is it real? If so why are so many people ignoring it? If its just people, again why do they ignore it? Is there nothing there? If so where do the people who join the parade go? What do we do when reality isnt real?
I know this may sound silly, but all of the marching creatures look so happy. The marching frog band is my favorite.
The parade, it has captivated me for many years now, what a brilliant concept.
What I wouldn’t give to lose myself in it forever.

I would say the parade represents intrusive thoughts and the fear of them becoming real.

Today we're heading back to this Horror-filled wasteland. Known as Japan
Doesn't seen too much different from a western LGBT parade
