    Man, This was super helpful. I’ve been rewatching some old matches & am realizing why some of the greats won their fights. It’s because they had the most clean punches and it was clear to see who was controlling the fight. Thank you

    Just had my first boxing competition yesterday and u fortunately I lost by unanimous decision. I myself thought it was a very close fight while of course many of my friends thought the fight should have gone to me. And since they don't release the score cards for amateur boxing this really gave me an insight of what to expect on my next match. Especially when he was talking about "effectiveness" because I was definitely more aggressive than my opponent but idk if the judges saw it as "effective." But anyways back to the drawing board and train even harder 💪👊🤛

    Good breakdown. Regarding 10-10s- Judges are discouraged from scoring 10-10. Score at home that way if you like but its HIGHLY unlikely for a modern judge to score a 10-10 round. I can't think of a recent fight with a 10-10 round.

    Being a gamer, this video gets all the points for going through the effort of actually recording and editing that bit. The punch sounds are perfectly over-the top. :D
    As for my pick of Boxing video game, it goes to Fight Night- Round 4. Fight Night- Champion might have a story mode... but that doesn't give it any points because the core gameplay is much worse.
    Biggest annoyance is how you block.
    Champion= Hold one button for perfect block.
    Round 4= Pick if you wanna block high, low or if you wanna try to lean and weave.
    Yes, it's harder to be defensive in Round 4... but it also rewards practice.

    Excellent video. Doesn’t cover nuances for MMA but didn’t expect it to, just saying that if you came here to judge for mma then you need more info and experience because the dimensions of the fight change with the inclusion of grappling and wrestling. For striking arts though, this is a phenomenal video.

    I believe you need to land punches to be an effective aggressor and not just come forward making your opponent uncomfortable which you mentioned as the frazier example. I would think the frazier example of coming forward moving side to side and making his opponent feel uncomfortable is more towards ring generalship. Here is what i see on this section Effective Aggression - Being aggressive gives the impression of dominance, but unless the boxer is landing shots and not constantly getting countered, it’s not exactly “effective.” Judges look for effective aggression, where the aggressor consistently lands his punches and avoids those from his opponent.

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  7 лет назад +3

      Thanks for commenting;
      You are absolutely right that you do need to be landing punches to be an effective aggressor. The point I should have made more clearly is that aggressive positioning can also play a factor in the round..yet you are right ...you also must be landing punches: )

  • @ThomasLWoolsey
    @ThomasLWoolsey 4 года назад +1

    So what I’m curious about is what happens in a situation whereby Boxer A knocks down Boxer B early in the round, but boxer B rallies well and ends up dominating the rest of the round to the point where they would be a clear winner of that round if you take the knockdown out of the equation. In that instance is it still a 10-8 round to boxer A? Does a knockdown always mean that that boxer wins that round, or are there exceptions?

      I think it's going to be a great fight and you could make a case for both guys...but if I had to bet, I would have to go with GGG. I just think that GGG will be able to take Canelo's power...where as GGG's power may prove to be too much for Canelo.
      This fight is one that boxing fans have been waiting for and these two guys know how to put on a show... im really looking forward to watching it : )

    • @paulp9847

      Everlast Nutrition I agree. I think this fight is very close now and could go either way but I give golovkin a slight edge. If this fight happened 2 years ago I would defintely favor golovkin but now its very close, i think canelo is getting sharper and i think ggg is slipping a little and i think he showed a little bit of age when he fought jacobs. I think its going to be a great fight and a great night for boxing fans.

    Pretty please respond to this comment. In the Davis v Garcia fight of the second round, Davis knocked down Garcia. One judge scored it a 10-10 round. What are possible explanations. Not implying any shenanigans. I just don’t understand per boxing scoring rules.

      Thanks for watching, I haven’t watched the fight yet but if there was a knockdown then I have no idea how they could score that a 10-10 round. 🥊🥊🥊🥊

      @@fightyourwayfit thanks for the reply. I learned there is a rule, accompanied by guidance, stating if a boxer is clearly winning the round and is knocked down judges can score the round 10-9. In extreme dominance can be scored 10-10 with a knock down. There is precedent in the Holyfield v Moorer bout of ‘94 where judge Jerry Roth scored a 10-10 round in the 2nd instead of a 10-9. A 10-9 would have allowed Holyfield to keep his titles in a majority draw. It was protested then upheld. I believe the Garcia v Davis bout marked the second time in boxing history where a knock down round was judged a 10-10

    I think I prefer a brawling boxing than this technical scoring.
    Its more simple and fun that way. If A looks more destroyed than B, then A wins.
    Great video nonetheless.

    I have a question
    If a fighter gets knocked down at the beginning of the round,but then he controlled the rest of the round.
    Will it be 9-9 or 10-9??

  • @jeffwilson130
    @jeffwilson130 6 лет назад +1

    So whenever there is a knockdown the round is scored 10-8? So if a boxer A is losing the round but scores a knockdown it goes from what would have been a 10-9 round against him to a 10-8 round in his favor? And even if Boxer B was dominating the round so completely it was set to be a 10-8 round in B’s favor, if he gets knocked down and fully recovers to dominate the rest of the round, it will still be score 10-8 against him?

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  6 лет назад

      Thanks for commenting. It will always be at the judges discretion.Theoretically it should be a 10-9 round ... he lost two points for the knockdown but gain a point for otherwise dominating the round ... unfortunately most judges will still score that a 10-8 round.

If they both get knocked down then that will usually cancel out and the winner of the round usually getting a 10-9 … lol.. if the both then got deducted a point for a foul ..then I could see a 9-8 round where both fighters scored a knockdown. Can a player get more points for a clean punch to the head or more pints to the head? Also, do you think boxing should be a school sport? It is great sport for discipline and respect. However, it also distracts from work and cause some serious injuries. I'm sure most everyone here knows that, but I was thinking.

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  Год назад

      Thanks for watching. Usually clean punches to the head are more noticeable than those to the body because the head may snap back.
      Unfortunately, I don't think boxing will be a school sport as it would require too much supervision to ensure that students were not hurting each other. That being said... I truly believe that all students should learn how to protect themselves. It would increase their confidence and improve their overall physical fitness. Thanks for taking the tone to comment.

      No it's not, depends on a judge, that's why I pay no attention to decisions, three guys evalutaing three different things on random.

    Good video, but... there is no rule that says a judge has to score a 10-8 round in the case of a knockdown, although judges do this all the time. Also, if Frazier (in your example) is pressuring his opponent with forward motionbut not landing, or worse not throwing, any punches, that is not effective aggression. That is ineffective aggression.

    • @fightyourwayfit
      @fightyourwayfit  6 лет назад +1

      You're absolutely right on both points... I should have been more clear, You don't necessarily have to score it a 10-8 round although that is the norm and you definitely have to land something to be the aggressor. Thanks for commenting as other people may have wondered the same thing : )
