Congrats you guys! I lived in Mt Shasta for a couple of decades, had many, many trips up the mountain. But only summited once. Best experience of my life. WTG!
Shasta in one day is so tuff. You did it with such style. This is a great vid, great shots, great audio, Man o man what a good job. Thank you for this super climb, Hats off👍
I've got a friend who wont stop saying mt. shasta and now im here lol. Thank you for all your effort brian! I've been watching your videos a lot most especially the el cap run and eastern sierra adventures. I hope i can do one of those adventures soon. You're awesome man! 💪
I got a question I always go around late August to MT shasta so not really snowing just mainly the peak from what I can see a need I’ve hiked up a little bit here and there but never fully to the summit, do you know how hard it would be without the snow ? Thanks in advance cheers amazing video/ videos🎉
Very dangerous to do without the snow on the avalanche gulch route due to frequent rockfall. Better to climb in may or early June on this route or if not climb via the clear creek route
Many years ago, I climbed Mt. Shasta via the Avalanche Gulch route, in mid-October. I climbed through the night, since there was a full moon for illumination. There was no snow on the entire route, except for crossing the summit snowfield, maybe a couple hundred feet, and quite level. I went through the Red Banks, an opening in the middle, where I could brace myself with both arms on the walls. Misery Hill was a cake walk, just a gentle climb for the rest of the hike. I had tried a couple of times earlier in the year with crampons and ice axe, but that steep climb from Helen Lake to the Red Banks always did me in, and I always had to do a few self-arrests after slipping in the snow. This time, I made it to the summit, and it was probably 70-degrees, sunny and warm. I've always regretted that I didn't take a sleeping bag and stay overnight on the summit, as is shown here on someone else's RUclips video. I'd love to do it again, but I'll have to be content watching everybody else's videos!
I can’t imagine climbing Mount Shasta any way other than in a day. Having to carry a heavy overnight pack halfway up the mountain and trying to sleep up there just seems HARD, HARD, HARD. Granted, I have never even done Avalanche Gulch (only Clear Creek in summer conditions). But even so, climbing Shasta as a backpack just seems like it would make things a whole lot more difficult.
Impressive! And great video. I was wondering how much water you guys brought? I’m planning on doing this in one day in a couple weeks and was thinking 4 liters. Curious what your experience was though. Cheers
I think the snow is melting quickly at lower elevations...I would try to go sooner than later to use crampons and not have to slide on the volcanic rock.
Awesome bro 👏. I just got an urge to summit Shasta. I will start training so I can go in early June
Thanks! Hope you get the chance to give it a go!
@@theworldhiker1 thank you
@@dant3113 I'm doing the same! Hopefully will be out there the last week of may or first week of June

My pleasure! Glad you enjoy them
Thanks for posting this. I've always wanted to do a 1 day push without all the gear for the challenge factor. Might try it here in the coming weeks...
You are welcome! I always enjoy 1 day efforts to not have to take camping gear and extra food...hope you can go for it!
Nice video congrats! What month was that climb?
Thanks! This was last spring in March I think

Hope you get to make it up!
Wow. you did it in one day. Another amazing job.
It's my honor that my name is mentioned along with Mediocre Amateur. Thanks Brian.

Awesome video! What time did you start?
Thanks! We started right before sunrise around 6 am

I agree...going light and fast makes a lot of sense to me too
kudos ! when was the hike?
This was in February a couple months ago
Thanks for this video....we are talking about doing this as a one day in mid april...and feel a little nervous about it..any thoughts advice?
I think it is doable in one day. Start early, check recent trip reports, and check the weather and wind conditions for sure.
Impressive! And great video. I was wondering how much water you guys brought? I’m planning on doing this in one day in a couple weeks and was thinking 4 liters. Curious what your experience was though. Cheers
Thanks! I brought 3 liters of water and it was just enough for me. I run a lot and can go a little longer than some without much water
Perfect, thanks for sharing! Cheers
What time of year was this?
This was last spring
Planning on doing this in the next week or so. Do you believe now is still a good time to go?
Go clear creek. Bring a caffeine tab or two, have fun and take some photos for me.
Tag me when you're done.
Was this easier than hike to top of el cap?
El Cap is longer, Shasta is much steeper...I'd say Shasta is a harder day overall
How do you think it would be this time of year?
I think the snow is melting quickly at lower elevations...I would try to go sooner than later to use crampons and not have to slide on the volcanic rock.
DO NOT glisssde with crampons on. So many unnecessary accidents, broken bones, and rescues because of this.
I would need 2 days no doubt
It's a solid hike!
Thank you.
You are most welcome
I tried this in May and the wind was blowing the chunks of ice uphill 😂
Yeah Shasta can get nasty sometimes 😀
I did it in 8.5 hours, no worries
You can but it's no fun.
