Richard L. Bare-here 99 years old!-and Phyllis Coates participate in a Q&A following the screening of some JOE McDOAKES shorts @ Cinecon 48 on 9.2.12 in Hollywood at the Egyptian. The two were once married for seven months and hadn't seen each other in decades.
Coates is most famous as the original Lois Lane on ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN opposite George Reeves, who she discusses here.

RIP Phyllis Coates. She died yesterday at the age of 96. This was her last ever public appearance, 11 years ago. Thanks for sharing 🙏
I don’t believe it was her last but it is one of the few on RUclips
@@raptorfromthe6ix833 it is her last. There are no other Publix appearances after 2012
@@jackchen7003 i seen photos at fan conventions at a later date
@@raptorfromthe6ix833 what year? As far as I know, she hasn’t made any appearance any later than 2012
Still Very pretty.
Phyllis Coates was as you can see in this series, a very versatile underrated actress. Not only that...... but she was truly gorgeous.
I met her as a child, she became my mom's friend when I was 8 or so and she'd bring tapes of Superman for me to watch which I loved and then I realized she was Lois and she gave me a personalized autograph which I love. wonderful lady I'd do anything for
Wow plus she was beautiful lucky you
Hey bud, how to get in touch with phylis coates?
Phyllis Coates had the 'SCREAM' down during 'The Adventures of Superman'. I always wondered what theory on George Reeves death was. She played a tough Lois Lane. Glad she's still around.
Me to but I think she hated doing it. I liked her
Phyllis was the best Louis Lane ever. I was a little kid with a crush on her.
Too bad people chuckled when she said she has vertigo - they thought she was joking about the Hitchcock film I guess. Vertigo is a tough condition- she is a trooper to keep going out on appearances & she is still beautiful and graceful! Mr. Bare did look great and mentally sharp at his age too!
Vertigo Is not fun. I deal with it. I also keep busy offering DVDs at an affordable price . My site is www.moviechronic.com. I can be contacted personally at billsprague446@gmail.com. Short subjects are only $1 per film reel. Feature films are $4.99 each or 5 for $20. Shipping is free to all USA customers. Foreign orders are accepted . Let me know how many movies you want and I will get back to you regarding Foreign shipping . I can also eliminate shipping charges for foreigners by utilizing a unique file transfer service.
@@billsprague7429 wow, you're an annoying guy if I've ever seen one.
Sadly, Mr. Bare passed away 4/12/15 at almost 102. I spoke with him about 3 years ago about a possible GREEN ACRES film.
Though I adored both Lois Lanes as a kid I gave the edge to Phyllis I suppose because she was the first one I saw. What a treat to see her now. She's 91. I hope she's in good health. Don't know why but in some angles she looks like Nancy Reagan.
I hate to see her limping like that. She’s almost 95 now.
@@youminholastransit3218she’s gone now. Died yesterday at 96. This was her last ever public appearance, 11 years ago
I STILL LOVED HER AS A KID AND AS ADULT. THE FIRST OF THE BEST. FAN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS
They were married together at one time. Bare wrote the best book on movie directing
Incredible mental acuity and focus for a man nearly 100 years old.Even his physical appearance is super.
Great to see Phyllis. I hate to see her limping like that 😢
Bare produced and directed the series (even though Gordon Hollingshead was credited as the "official" producer during the '40s and early '50s) from 1942 through '56. Probably THE funniest short comedies ever made!!!
I LOVE the Joe McDoakes films! They belong way up there with "The Three Stooges" and "Abbott and Costello." They're just top quality, classic comedy at its best.
Bless her❤
She's still a beauty.
Presented by Stan Taffel at Cinecon 2012 on September 2, 2012.
I have interview proposition for phylis coates, how to get in touch with her?
Still beautiful.
I'd like to ask Richard L Bare about the first Alice Doakes: Jane Harker nee Mary Jane Harker.
love you and miss you phyllis
Do you mean you knew her and haven't seen her in a long while, or do you mean you have heard she passed away?
@@matthewrettenmund8358 i just heard she has passed away, and i am so very sad about this
@@smithpm81 Oh, no, where did you find that? I haven't seen that!
@@smithpm81 Her death is not reported anywhere. I think you are mistaken, unless you have family/inside info.
@@matthewrettenmund8358 so very sad, she was a big star in my world
Phyllis is 87 here.
No, she is 85, born January, 1927
She turned 95 today
What a missed opportunity to see and hear from these fine actors because of rotten production values...the lighting is terrible, the sound has echoes, and the camera angle is all wrong.
This is such a typical asshole comment lol because ... "production values"? This is a live event. The video was captured by a fan! The angle is all wrong? It was shot from his seat. And because of him, it fucking exists. YOU'RE WELCOME.
Phyllis looks a little out of it sad to say. She has to be 90 here.
She was 85 here. She’s turning 95 next month
She’s 96 now. Whatever happened to her?
