Don't hold your breath trying to find many other 1/64(ish) scale TVR diecasts. This MB595 TVR Tuscan S was sporadically in the Matchbox range during their blunder years of 2003 to 2013. The black model I started with was the last entry from 2013 before it disappeared. Matchbox did the quirky British sports car maker proud with this very well recreated scale casting. The curvaceous body and the extremely detailed TVR badge on the nose are simply incredible.
TVRs of the era were associate with some pretty wild colour schemes. When I found out that Tamiya offered their PS-46 Iridescent Purple/Green, I immediately knew which model I wanted to try it out on. Enter the Tuscan. I paired the TVR Reflex shade with some close match wheels from Creative One 64 and ended up with a pretty good replica I think.
TVR have a complicated and financially strained past. While still in existence, they are pretty much dormant despite the promise of a new Gordon Murray designed Griffith in 2017 that production was meant to begin on in 2023. The Tuscan the casting is based on was in production from 1999 and ran until 2006 when the company stopped building cars. The S variant was the top-of-the-line 390-400 bhp offering and is distinguished by its rear lip spoiler.

I never knew Matchbox made a TVR diecast. Would've loved one as a kid. Makes zero sense for them to have barely had it for sale. You customization came out great.

The reactive paint looks just as stunning as it does on the real cars. There was something wild and outlandish about TVRs and they are a man ch missed, even if they were known for their electrical issues at the time.

Workers at the factory used to write things on the inside of the fiberglass bodies before putting the carpet in or applying paint.

I have never seen this casting before, and I have a lot of matchbox! Glad you could do it more justice than the original manufacturer

      Wow!.....
      Amazing transformation Jason.
So much better than the original black version which seemed lost somehow, couldn't really see the shape too well. Now bright as a button. Love the paint scheme by the way.
Keep er lit ya boy ye

Wow, what a transformation. Much better than the original black version which seemed a little bit too dark, couldn't see the shape as well somehow.
Love the colour scheme by the way.

Great work, looks much better in a more proper color. Perhaps bringing the ride height down a bit will help fill the wheel wells.

Nice restoration on the TVR Tuscan, Jason , maybe if you lowered the car so the body was dropped down over tge wheels more, it might give a better look. Nice history lesson on TVR by the way 👍

not many people wear this matchbox TVR costume and I'm working on it, the results you made are great by replacing the typical Tuscan chameleon paint

looks proper. I didn't know Tamiya made such a paint... nice. :)
I wanted to stand up and say, "Corgi toys!" but then I remembered that was a Triumph, not a TVR... or was there a wedge Griffith once? or Wellys?
nah, probably not. maybe in 1:43, but not sure.
