When Set Me Free was released they tried to push so hard the narrative that the song was bad that not only you, but every single person who praised the song was attacked. Reactors, music critics and reviewers, people in the industry, everyone. It's funny because most of these people didn't even care about the song or listened to it in full, they just wanted to hop on the hate train; or were just throwing technical terms around without knowing what they meant to the point that they were made fun of by Grammy nominated producers. It's okay not liking a song, each individual has their own preferences and nothing will please everyone, especially songs that escape the formula everybody is used to. But the fact that you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad. It can be according to your taste, sure. But that's where it ends, your personal taste and opinion. I think it is about feeling lonliness during COVID and alcohol is common theme in most of the songs. He starts with Face off (best song in my opinion) where he is literally having a conversation with his reflection (which he finds has endless needs), next he used the track from the Busan concert in the Interlude which ends with him pouring hiimself a glass of booze (feels like he misses performing or people), and Like Crazy is the next track where he tries to forget about his lonliness with booze and ends the song with "what's the point", leading up to the next track where he still feels Alone and he asks all the negative thoughts in his head to f**k off in Set Me Free pt 2 (that's the last track). Love this EP! 💜But why is it an EP 😩, I want more!

Don't be sad about it, he said in his interview with Rolling Stone that the song came about because he felt lost and confused but then went on to say that after finishing the song and the album he no longer feels that way and he's currently in a good place! It's one of the greatest things about BTS, their ability to channel their feelings and leave it in the form of a song.

This song sounds like a dark fairy tale. your voice sounds like a whisper making you go somewhere. it's like a dream, but again like you're using substances. you kinda start to feel a little bit of what jimin wants us to feel. that girl, once they meet in the middle, all the half-stop shots look like we see him through that girl's eyes. and at the end he looks as the camera pans around, it's like we're spinning too but looking at him as he says "I need a way we can dream". and he looks down again like he can't find a way and it hurts him to the core. it's just not a new thought for him to cry over, just to accept that he'll keep trying. he looks at the camera often but looks different when we see the girl is nearby. it seems that he is talking to us/her. But it's like he's trying to tell us something that's hard to explain, but he does. he'd rather be outside than feel the sad emotions sober. Jimin said something about the album expressing the feelings he felt during the pandemic in chronological order. in a sense it involves the army, bts or jimin himself all at once. it was always about us, emotions confirm how he must have felt all this time. the "forever you and me" is always in the background at different times, only softly if you listen carefully. some things I still can't fully explain but it's not just us but Jimin himself, always striving for perfection but all things considered seems out of reach. the "alone again... what's the point" is so painful because he can really feel it. as if he gives up for a moment, or goes back to being sad and sober, no longer in the club where he can forget in the company of his friends, fans, etc. there's so much I want to explain, but there are some things I can't connect or explain yet. regardless, this M/V was profound. between sad and the sudden sound change slowly relieves you of the sadness and distracts you, until you are alone again, then it starts. no wonder he doesn't want to go away or be saved. he wants to live in that moment when everything is temporarily fine. the bathroom scene reminds me of movies where the party is outside and the bathrooms are where you will cry and think and reflect and drown before you go out again and forget. you want to forget, but you occasionally remember, leading you to go back and forget AGAIN. the sadness being an incentive factor to go out and party, not sober up and just enjoy the lights, completely lost. The auto-tune for me wasn't too much just because I know Jimin CHOSE to put it there. Listening to the Face album in chronological order made it CLEAR why they did that. It was the track "ALONE" that came before Set Me Free pt 2 that kind of established that the auto-tune was a 2nd Voice. It was amazing! If you haven't checked it, I highly recommend you listen to the album (and definitely end it on the hidden track "Letter").

I feel like this release is kinda meh to be honest. I HATED the rap (particularly the over-use of filters/autotune on his voice) on 'Set Me Free' but overall it was a very impactful single. This one... forgettable. 'Face-off' would have made a MUCH better title track, especially since it's sonically more in line with SMF.

This song sounds like a dark fairy tale. your voice sounds like a whisper making you go somewhere. it's like a dream, but again like you're using substances. you kinda start to feel a little bit of what jimin wants us to feel. that girl, once they meet in the middle, all the half-stop shots look like we see him through that girl's eyes. and at the end he looks as the camera pans around, it's like we're spinning too but looking at him as he says "I need a way we can dream". and he looks down again like he can't find a way and it hurts him to the core. it's just not a new thought for him to cry over, just to accept that he'll keep trying. he looks at the camera often but looks different when we see the girl is nearby. it seems that he is talking to us/her. But it's like he's trying to tell us something that's hard to explain, but he does. he'd rather be outside than feel the sad emotions sober. Jimin said something about the album expressing the feelings he felt during the pandemic in chronological order. in a sense it involves the army, bts or jimin himself all at once. it was always about us, emotions confirm how he must have felt all this time. the "forever you and me" is always in the background at different times, only softly if you listen carefully. some things I still can't fully explain but it's not just us but Jimin himself, always striving for perfection but all things considered seems out of reach. the "alone again... what's the point" is so painful because he can really feel it. as if he gives up for a moment, or goes back to being sad and sober, no longer in the club where he can forget in the company of his friends, fans, etc. there's so much I want to explain, but there are some things I can't connect or explain yet. regardless, this M/V was profound. between sad and the sudden sound change slowly relieves you of the sadness and distracts you, until you are alone again, then it starts. no wonder he doesn't want to go away or be saved. he wants to live in that moment when everything is temporarily fine. the bathroom scene reminds me of movies where the party is outside and the bathrooms are where you will cry and think and reflect and drown before you go out again and forget. you want to forget, but you occasionally remember, leading you to go back and forget AGAIN. the sadness being an incentive factor to go out and party, not sober up and just enjoy the lights, completely lost. BETWEEN A MIX OF FICTION AND STRONG REALITIES. ANOTHER WORK OF ART BY THIS THINKING BEING. APPLAUSE.👏👏👏❤

Thank you for what you said. Unfortunately this fandom in particular gives JM more hate than people outside of the fandom and they can't stand his success. It's a solo stan and shipper group that create and spread the most hate about him and they absolute hate how successful he's been. It disgusts me. I don't know how they can consider themselves fans. The auto-tune for me wasn't too much just because I know Jimin CHOSE to put it there. Listening to the Face album in chronological order made it CLEAR why they did that. It was the track "ALONE" that came before Set Me Free pt 2 that kind of established that the auto-tune was a 2nd Voice. It was amazing!
If you haven't checked it, I highly recommend you listen to the album (and definitely end it on the hidden track "Letter").

I feel like this release is kinda meh to be honest. I HATED the rap (particularly the over-use of filters/autotune on his voice) on 'Set Me Free' but overall it was a very impactful single. This one... forgettable. 'Face-off' would have made a MUCH better title track, especially since it's sonically more in line with SMF.
