This Six Flags is more of a vibe when you go in the summer . It’s really a summer type park. More people, more events, and the waterpark is definitely great. The rides are great too but It’s just better in the summer
Now when the park was Riverside up until 1999, the parking lot was actually where the water park sits. You did not have to cross over main street via that bridge. The employee lot behind batman used to be guest parking and spanned all the way to main street. Everything to the Right of the slide complex with Shark Attack used to be parking. The employee lot in front of the water park also used to be guest parking as well. The lot was a big L shape.
As a person who has visited SFNE since it was Riverside, I can say that your review is spot on, when I visit aI spend the first half of the day at the water park. And your right that the local park is not fully responsible for the the tackiness, I’ve seen it in all other SF parks, it’s like corporate wants no type of uniqueness, they seem to want the parks to be the same.
Six Flags NE is my home park and I think it's a low key common complaint that we all hate the camps. When I see the school and coach buses all lined up in their designated area in the parking lot I cringe. I recommend going to the park on a weekday (tuesday) to avoid them. I'd never thought about how odd the layout is because I've been going there since I was like 4 but yeah it is set up strangely. It's a good park though. Superman is New England's only claim to fame so we need it lol
this being my home six flags park, and probably my favorite six flags. (hard to say as i freaking love eltoro and the safari in nj) but if your having issues with line cuts here report it asap to the staff and they reck the guests. They force the group and who they were trying to get up to back the the end of the line. (and if it goes farther they just kick the people out. ulike alot of parks they have completely no tolerance with guests. if your ruining the experiences in any way for someone else ) It happens alot more then you would think. Also if you have a season pass, you can get in before the line drop and its not nearly as bad once you get through the rope. they are also extending the batman area into the dc area and mostlikly are going to turn kidsopolis into a dc super friends area so that from superman to batman its all dc.
3:10 THAT IS NOTE ENTIRELY TRUE - If you have a PLATINUM FLASH PASS double rides are allowed. Also if your a Diamond Elite duting member only times too.
that would be true if in 2017 they ended the double ride program for platinum flash passes at most of their parks. (and all of them by 2018) They now use a % off line style so the other passes became worse, the new platinum is about as good as gold used to be.
That reride policy is a total drag...Carowinds let me stay on both Intimidator and Fury 325 when the park was near empty...I once got 4 straight rerides in the front on Intimidator. I have yet to visit another Six Flags Park.
Went to SFNE this fall and I rerode Cyclone, Joker twice, Flashback, and Dark Knight. 3 of those times I just stayed in my seat and ride ops didn’t give af. Conversely, while ride ops don’t give af, the operations themselves were atrocious
Definitely one of the better Six Flags parks out there. Landscaping, rides, operations, food options, and clientele are all pretty good for a decent size Six Flags park, but the no reride policy is stupid. They do need some help with their coaster lineup outside Superman and Wicked Cyclone. A launch coaster is easily the most important thing they need to round out their lineup. I give SFNE an 8/10.
This is my home park and the GP teens are always there getting yelled at if they would just behave the lines would move so much faster, sometimes they threaten to close the ride for everyone because it’s all misbehaving kids in the line with just a few people waiting to ride
One major thing to keep in mind is it only became Six Flags New England in 1998. Before it was bought, it was Riverside Park, an amusement park which opened in *1870* , we getting historical here. So the entrance may be a copy of Six Flags America which opened in 1974, but hey seems like they tried brand consistency, and then gave up. Six Flags New England/ Riverside generationally between me and my dad is a solid fixture to our theme park experiences growing up. The last time I was able to go was about a decade ago, and though I do try to keep updated, seems I missed when they put that second boomerang style coaster in. I do know they've renamed coasters/rides, one being Riddler's Revenge used to just be called The Mind Eraser. A small coaster by Superman was once Poison Ivy's Tangled Train is now Cat Woman's Whip. The very boring (I've ridden it) soon to leave Kryptonite Collider flat-ride [also by the Superman] used to be Joker's Wildcard before the 4D coaster went in. Bonus news on that prime flat-ride spot next to the Superman, they took out the Nightwing ages ago which still bums me out, but soon here in 2021 their new SuperGirl Flyer is supposed to be going in and only difference being SuperGirl is seated where Nightwing was lying belly down. Speaking of said 4D ride, the Joker coaster as well as Harley's Spinsanity are also incredibly new. So they are always leaning more into that DC theme it seems. Layout can probably be based on the fact that they probably only had so much they could buy with land grants of the surrounding area and move outward from the original park. Most rides are now being stuck into where they fit within the current perimeter. They were also building around the original rides they wanted to keep like the wooden Cyclone (now Wicked Cyclone, they redid it in 2014, because oof the integrity of the original was finally were the rickety-ness was not fun but dangerous) and the Thunderbolt (which its still holding up for now, my little historical preservation heart is happy). As for major theme parks, for MA, pretty sure Agawam is the biggest, don't quote me on that, which sadly means its also the #1 noneducational end of year fieldtrip destination. I think the next closest things are Coney Island, Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ and Six Flags Great Escape in NY by Lake George, so minimum 3 hours hours away. Six Flags New England is also literally down the road from a major cluster of several colleges, which includes the flagship campus for Umass and Amherst College. So sorry this comment is a book, I'm just really passionate about the one theme park I've gotten to go to more than once cuz its close by, and am longing so much to head back.
I prefer not to rate parks because your experience is going to vary every visit. You could have a horrible day, or an amazing day. That's too big of a fluctuation to give an accurate rating.
Medmac Wrong. Coasters can change just as much on one ride than another. For example X2, Taylor at first hated it but now it's in his top 25. It would be a score based on his visit
I live like 10 minutes away from here and I have get a season pass every year. NEVER go here on weekends as it is always packed. The water park is actually very nice, has some good slides and is clean. One thing that’s super weird about this park is that there are lots of people who come here who come from far away and aren’t locals. People come here from all over especially from eastern mass and New York. Try to avoid going to this park when it’s super hot as well because the entire thing is asphalt and it gets VERY hot. I don’t know why they didn’t let you re ride because I’ve done it on multiple occasions and they were okay with it. It also helps to know some of the ride ops lol.
This being my home park I will say that you just got unlucky with the day you went because if you go end of school year every single school goes there on field trips so I would recommend going like beginning if may
As my home park and the only park with an RMC that's near me (Canobie Lake and SFGA in NJ doesn't have one) I really, really appreciate this park. I appreciate that you liked this park and hope you come again soon, I would like to meet you one day.
I will admit, with this being my home amusement park, I will admit I love coming here, and I am happy that every year they get a new ride which makes it more attempting to want and come back every year, I will admit this is one of those amusements parks that are enjoyable to have as your home amusement park and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a park that always gets a new experience every year
In the northeast, we have summer camps for 3 days at a place and one day to an amusement/water park. It’s how parents get their kids outside in New England.
It's not, Canada's Wonderland is famous for their Giga and their many great flat rides. SFNE is famous for Superman:TR and Wicked Cyclone. We have a pretty meh flat ride lineup, like yeah, we may have one of the tallest star flyers in the world, the other flat rides are just okay, standered Six Flags rides.
SFNE is that one Six Flags park that I usually forget about. It's got some cool rides, but definitely feels like one of their dumping ground parks. You know the ones.
Apart from the BBQ place, Panda Express, this one good-to-mediocre Mexican joint, and a few things you can get at the healthy place, most of the food at SFNE is pretty bad. It's fried chicken, french fries, and boring-ass pizza as far as the eye can see. A lot of the stands have theming that would make you *think* "oh, this place is gonna be interesting." Like, it's New England. Shouldn't a place called the Red Schooner or Riverboat Cafe be able to serve me some fried clams or something? Nope. Just fried chicken. (I haven't tried the Fish n' Chips place - I don't think it was open when I was there.) We have a bunch of pretty good pizza chains in New England, so you'd think that hey, maybe Pizzeria Regina or Papa Gino's would be able to find their way into the park, but: nope. You get Primo's, which is just yecch. It's school-lunch pizza. And they serve it on a bed of fries for some reason. Like "Here, kids, enjoy your massive basket full of starch." There *is* a (limited) Johnny Rockets, which is okay if you like Johnny Rockets. Their shakes are pretty good. On the other hand, we have Superman: The Ride (which has won, like, billions of awards for being awesome, including like two Grammys and a Nobel Peace Prize. Seriously, it's that good.) Wicked Cyclone, and Harley Quinn. I genuinely enjoy the Batman ride, the Thunderbolt (I'm a sucker for a good old wooden coaster, and Thunderbolt is the oldest operating coaster in any Six Flags park; a hold-over from "back in the day" when SFNE was called Riverside.), and that Joker thing's pretty okay. Hurricane Harbor is a lot of fun if the lines aren't too long. So... I mean... it's a toss-up. Either hit the BBQ joint, or Johnny Rockets, or get a snack and plan to eat later.
Oh, and the ads are the WORST. LIke... ok. I'm lining up for the Batman rollercoaster, and there's a couple TVs in the queue. Great! Except.. they're just blasting commercials at you. I just dropped $60 to get in here, and I gotta watch ads all day. Come on, Six Flags - you're trying to "immerse" us in this Gotham City vibe... show us some fake news clips from the Batman universe. "This just in... the Riddler has escaped!" Or have the Joker "hack" the newsfeed. Or whatever. (The theming in the Joker 4D queue *sort of* does this a little - his face pops up and cackles at you and says Joker things. It's pretty neat.) Also, the Gotham City Asylum ride was *supposed* to be a dark ride, but they couldn't sort out the building permits, so now it's just a wild mouse with some things that pop up. It *should* have been amazing and immersive, and instead it's just... meh. On the other hand... that Houdini house is a hidden gem. I love that damn thing. Yeah, it's a sideways Pirate Boat in a Haunted House, but the combination works for me... I dunno.
Always here on free time with my kids. They're opened for a little while in the winter for the winter fest. The Johnny Rockets restaurant food is also amazing
Getting caught by school groups/summer camps is absolutely the worst thing for many parks, and here for sure (from personal experience). Great review, you pretty much reflect my way of thinking for the park :)
@@oneandonlysound99 It's been inconsistent. I have had good luck swapping seats or staying in the same seat on Wicked Cyclone, however (if nobody's waiting for the seat obv)
The other thing is that this is one park where the name "Six Flags" really makes sense, because near the entrance they fly the state flags of each of the SIX New England states (or at least they used to - I haven't been for a few years). Also, Superman will always be my favorite ride, but then again I rode it in its glory days not long after it was built, when they still had the simple seat belt/T-bar restraint system and the airtime on the ride was just INSANE. Broke my heart when they changed that, but I think they felt they had to do something after that 2004 tragic accident that never should have happened, plus, thanks in part to Rep. Ed Markey, (D-Mass.), T-bar type restraints were banned in Massachusetts after that incident. Also, in its original incarnation, Superman: Ride of Steel had seat belts aoprox. 11 inches longer in the front seats of each car as opposed to the two elevated back seats, which had shorter belts. To this day, the seat belt/T-bar restraints continue to be used safely on Millennium Force. Thanks for the review of the park!
They have six American flags near the entrance now. I never rode Superman before the restraints were changed, but I personally find them a hell of a lot better than the restraints on Wicked Cyclone which fit so loosely they dig into my thighs every time the ride goes upside down
I live in CT. About 30 to 45 min from this park so this is my Sux flags and they let you re-ride the rides. You can stay on if the ride isn't busy. Otherwise you just get back in line.
Comprehensive and on-point review Taylor! SFNE was my first proper Six Flags Park (La Ronde doesn't count!) and I pretty much shre your views. Awesome Top 2, decent Batman floorless but the rest is meh at best. It has some charming bits despite the noted advertisement. Definitely worth visiting, but a top notch launch coaster would really boost the ride line-up of this park!
Used to live right next to the park. In a apartment complex. We got free season passes because every Halloween fright fest would be right in out backyards.
This is my home park, and it’s a good home park. It’s obviously not cedar point level, but it’s not la ronde level either. It’s also good with great adventure a few hours away and lake compounce and quassy near
I'm going to Six Flags with a school group in two weeks, I think the park won't be busy because we're going on a Tuesday and my school is getting out earlier than most schools in the state, so other school groups shouldn't be a problem. The only problem will be tourists from the South or out of country were they already ended school.
The ride ops on WC and STR staple the hell out of you. It was actually making marathoning less fun because every time you had to fight for an inch of space
During the Halloween time the park goes even deeper. There is a picnic area in the woods. You follow this very nice path over a bridge into the woods. You can rent the area for parties and get togethers. During Halloween that's where they have fright fest. Deep in the middle of the woods.
Agawam native here. The park was originally known as a Riverside Park before SF took it over. Badly missed from that park is the NASCAR track and its car races....removed when Six Flags came in. Held over though is the 1941 Thunderbolt roller coaster. Not huge but a lot of fun and a historic landmark. The Wicked Cyclone was recycled from the old Riverside Cyclone....well loved back in the day but the new replacement is superior. The bad drawback this park has is that it gets very crowded and the lines can be very long. That and there tends to be riff-raff at times... misbehaving kids like you saw. The overdoing of the D.C. superheroes theming is rediculous as well. The food is excellent though, and the Halloween and Christmas festivals are fantastic. And if you come mid to late September, you can go just down the street to the Big E Eastern States Exposition Fair.
The park and ride layouts may be slightly strange because in the late 90s this park was not six flags new england but actually Riverside Amusement park and then six flags bought them out and started renovating the park slowly. Alot of the older rides in the park were orignally brought in when the park was still Riverside. Flashback, Mind Eraser, Tomahawk, Thunderbolt, wicked cyclone used to be just Cyclone the biggest wooden coaster in the park, then they frankensteined it.
I was there early may and we ran into the same issue, so many field trips. I mean we went to Six Flags America at the end of April and also had a lot of field trips, but the kids spread out real nice there. The only real line cutting issue at SFNE was definitely Superman I guess the configuration of the queue makes it easy to do.
I actually work there for one day because they asked for help from near by park for a special picnic for a company that bought the park out for a day. We got trained the night before and got ro ride superman. Funny thing is we only worked like 3 hours so we played in the park the rest of the day. This was back in the early 2000 .
This is LITERALLY the only sixflags park I've ever been to even though we have season passes, because we live too far away to go to any of the other parks lol.
I came here when I was 11. I wasn’t tall enough for Superman, Batman and Mind Eraser and I was too scared to go on Joker 😂. I LOVED wicked cyclone. I really want to go back to that park so I can finally ride Superman but I live so far away that I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I’ve never been to Six flags Magic Mountain (that’s my home six flags) but I hope I’ll go there soon.
update from a year later- was there last week while it was mostly empty and stayed in our seats to reride Superman, Batman, Wicked Cyclone with no issue. didn’t know that was park policy until just now...
The food there is pretty good. That BBQ place you mentioned is very good! And one thing you can get all over the park is the chicken tenders. They are very good
depending on the ride they will let you re ride. DC has about 5/6 rides. and we do have lots of stairs due to space issues. there is pretty much only 4/5 main areas. also a good place to eat is jonny rockets down by superman
Summer of 2018 they rethemed two of the areas. And the park is more coheasive now. There's joker, harley quinn, riddlers revenge, and batman in one area all themed around DC. And some of the actual theming in cue lines was redone as well.
Just think this very location was once called riverside park only people who are from new England born and raised will know what I am talking about lol
Hey I happen to be a park historian for this park. I work with the entertainment department and know a lot of why the park looks and is themed the way it is. If you ever happen to be in the area again I can definitely answer almost any question you have. Also if you are ever in this park and want to know anything you can ask someone on a traveling show called NEAT.
When everyone mentions that something is like a six flags park, which six flags park fits that stereotype most (Which park is the stereotypical six flags park)?
Harrison Schneider St Louis is one that comes to mind. It's so plain and basic and there isn't really anything outstanding about it. It's just kinda there.
I recently went here for the first time since high school and I thought it was pretty okay. I didn’t have a good experience with food and Superman was on one train operation so they were giving out boarding passes. The app was also claiming a 60 minute wait time but I had barely made it 1/4 of the way through after 40 minutes so I dipped which was disappointing. Wicked Cyclone was really good but after visiting other parks like Magic Mountain, Cedar Point, and even Kings Dominion within the past year I was very underwhelmed.
I live in Connecticut and this is the park we go to we had a blast last summer and the water park was amazing :) the food is good love the fried Oreos and the dinning pass is a money saver
This Six Flags is one of the ones that are close to me I do want to point out in certain parts of the park they do have elevators for certain rides for people with disabilities like myself and this is a really great Park and the one in New Jersey is also a great one as well and I just subscribed to your Channel you put great Continental all the time keep up the good work
the m&m stairs are an iconic & nostalgic part of this whole park & nothing u say will change my mind ty for coming to my ted talk

Yeah but riding New England Sky Screamer in 47 degree weather and it was insane!
What about fright feast
I love going in the summer because of the water park
Yeah, I agree with you.
Totally agree! Superman and Wicked Cyclone are the best parts. Superman was actually really fun as Bizarro too.
Bizarro is Superman but painted purple
The Dark Knight and The Harley Quinn are Badass rides too
Haha. I remember bolting straight for Superman for school field trips right when the rope dropped. Classic
0:24 "Thrilling flat rides" shows super loop

Subtle way of throwing shade at Six Flags for calling these things coasters. I love it.
Well I mean if your ride op is a d**k

Pandamonium and Thunderbolt are incredible.... and don't you say it's bumpy it's not I was in the back seat of Thunderbolt.
@@loganlesage2967 probably because you are scared to go on superman. And those are rides you are not scared enough to go on. LOL

I go every year for band. We make sure to act like proper people and if we don’t we have to miss out on the ride
SFNE is that one Six Flags park that I usually forget about. It's got some cool rides, but definitely feels like one of their dumping ground parks. You know the ones.
well, yeah, we are the boomerang graveyard, but we still got good original coasters like Wicked Cyclone and Superman.
I've been here maybe 5 or 6 times and I've never been back to the Houdini part and always forget it's even there.
agreed and its always closed when i got there and i think its becoming as seasonal ride for fright fest?
omg I love wicked cyclone
The style of the entrance for Six Flags New England is very fitting for the area with the colonial architecture.
This is my home park. Absolutely love it! 😁
It's pretty neat.)
Also, the Gotham City Asylum ride was *supposed* to be a dark ride, but they couldn't sort out the building permits, so now it's just a wild mouse with some things that pop up. It *should* have been amazing and immersive, and instead it's just... meh.
On the other hand... that Houdini house is a hidden gem. I love that damn thing. Yeah, it's a sideways Pirate Boat in a Haunted House, but the combination works for me... I dunno.
i love the m&m stairs hskshs
The back of the park is at lower elevation due to the old race track. The stairways were once "stadium rows"
Always here on free time with my kids. They're opened for a little while in the winter for the winter fest. The Johnny Rockets restaurant food is also amazing
Six flags new england is pretty awesome. Then again I would like to see an operations video for this park.
Agreed
I go here every year I like Superman the most I also like shark at the waterpark
Getting caught by school groups/summer camps is absolutely the worst thing for many parks, and here for sure (from personal experience). Great review, you pretty much reflect my way of thinking for the park :)
I’ve been to Six Flags New England on June, July and September. so now I’m going back before 2019 ends
I’ve had the similar experience of the GP crowding everything at Six Flags Great America.
“NO OFFENSE but you guys kinda suck”.
lol 😂
It's the E you know what else is FUNNY?? No one asked what everyone calls you 🤣 isn’t that FUN???
No offense taken. Because that sounds like me XD
Riddler's Revenge is so good, definitely the best SLC along with Thunderhawk and Great Nor'Easter.
The new restraints have definitely made the ride a lot better
@@ThuhOthers Do they still use or have the "no rerides without walking around" policy thing going?
@@oneandonlysound99 It's been inconsistent. I have had good luck swapping seats or staying in the same seat on Wicked Cyclone, however (if nobody's waiting for the seat obv)
i recommend going again this year. they have changed the layout a little bit, and added two new rides.
Used to go there every weekend in the summer! Instead of the stairs us kids would race up the ramp
I never rode Superman before the restraints were changed, but I personally find them a hell of a lot better than the restraints on Wicked Cyclone which fit so loosely they dig into my thighs every time the ride goes upside down
“Uh, were in college”😂
And Sky Screamer is a highlight too! It’s known for that too of course!!!!
Maria Zambon I don't recall ever seeing that. They still have Scream right?
Riff Raff Yes!
Coaster Hipster Laronde counts
5:10 Not sure about the normal one but or when it statted but it is IS on the MEMBER dining plan now...Though some items cost an extra buck or two...
Yea the rope drop thing is so true, also the long walk. My family forgot the drink cups and we all made my dad walk back to the car
Used to live right next to the park. In a apartment complex. We got free season passes because every Halloween fright fest would be right in out backyards.
Is the water park extra? I have a pass and seems to me most park says water park isn't included. 😕
you can go to there for a free and its really separated lol so that's why they didn't included
Yes those summer camps in New England stay at a place then go on a field trip a week. They are annoying and cut lines
This is my home park, and it’s a good home park. It’s obviously not cedar point level, but it’s not la ronde level either. It’s also good with great adventure a few hours away and lake compounce and quassy near
It was good seeing you there, hope you get a chance to come back again.
My home park ❤️
4:57 The only good restaurant at SFNE. (Trust me, I'm a season pass holder.)
Baksidesteez yeah it’s amazing
Uhhhhh I uh h a t e I t
Actually it was bought by premier parks in 1996 then changed to six flags when premier parks bought out six flags.
How far is it from Boston if i were to travel and try to visit both ? By car ....
It's quite a haul, 2 hours both ways, it's on the other end of the state by New York and Connecticut, you should be able to do it in a day though.
@@whobutwbmarci5200 oh thank you.
about an hour and a half
I’m having flashbacks from my trip there
Post quaratine shutdown, the park now states that rerides are allowed if you switch to an empty row.

Six Flags- “iT’S a roLleRcOastEr
IT'S NOT A COASTER
My hometown Six Flags. Love it.
The food there is pretty good. That BBQ place you mentioned is very good! And one thing you can get all over the park is the chicken tenders. They are very good
I've been waiting for a video review of a Giant Inverted Boomerang from you forEVER.
Finally
Minecraft gangster
I went to Six Flags New England every year
depending on the ride they will let you re ride. DC has about 5/6 rides. and we do have lots of stairs due to space issues. there is pretty much only 4/5 main areas. also a good place to eat is jonny rockets down by superman
I love the M&M stairs, it makes me laugh every time I enter the park
Summer of 2018 they rethemed two of the areas. And the park is more coheasive now. There's joker, harley quinn, riddlers revenge, and batman in one area all themed around DC. And some of the actual theming in cue lines was redone as well.
Just think this very location was once called riverside park only people who are from new England born and raised will know what I am talking about lol
Oh man, Peter will love this!
Great park! Wicked cyclone & Superman are a fantastic 1 2 combo!!!! Food over the course of my 3 day visit wasn't good though :/
You have to try the water park for the full experience. There’s less product placement and there’s some decent water rides
While that is true there is a reason behind many of the theming. Not just because it was river side.
When everyone mentions that something is like a six flags park, which six flags park fits that stereotype most (Which park is the stereotypical six flags park)?
Harrison Schneider magic mountain
Harrison Schneider St Louis is one that comes to mind. It's so plain and basic and there isn't really anything outstanding about it. It's just kinda there.
The one Six Flags park that you have visited but not reviewed
Wich Six Flags Park has the most advertising?
I recently went here for the first time since high school and I thought it was pretty okay. I didn’t have a good experience with food and Superman was on one train operation so they were giving out boarding passes. The app was also claiming a 60 minute wait time but I had barely made it 1/4 of the way through after 40 minutes so I dipped which was disappointing. Wicked Cyclone was really good but after visiting other parks like Magic Mountain, Cedar Point, and even Kings Dominion within the past year I was very underwhelmed.
This is a great park why u hate on it and also New England had that entrance before America did
I live in Connecticut and this is the park we go to we had a blast last summer and the water park was amazing :) the food is good love the fried Oreos and the dinning pass is a money saver
Same but i never went into the WP
This Six Flags is one of the ones that are close to me I do want to point out in certain parts of the park they do have elevators for certain rides for people with disabilities like myself and this is a really great Park and the one in New Jersey is also a great one as well and I just subscribed to your Channel you put great Continental all the time keep up the good work
Ive been here so many times lol, I live really close
Iron Man Mk46 I live a hour away but I go every year
