- Dewalt Trigger Clamp Hack - Double the length of your quick clamps for 20 cents. The 12 inch clamps are the most practical to use for most projects but every now and then you need more capacity. With this hack you can turn your 12 inch Dewalt quick clamps into one rigid 27 inch capacity clamp. You can do this with a hand drill if you like and it does not affect the strength of the clamps. You can convert it back to a pair of 12 inch clamps in seconds. If you do the modification to the other end, you can use the spreader feature in the 27 inch size as well.
Nice hack Rich, thanks for making the tutorial. Great vid too, clear, concise, good work & no music.
Thanks! I'm not a fan of music either
Fantastic and more elegant than just using 2 clamps to hold each other together like I have done in a pinch. I wonder if the plain bar is available to buy in various lengths.
Thanks for your help Rich!
Nifty trick. Adding to the arsenal, thanks!
I like the info Rick. I have done this before but anyone that don't like music in these types of videos is alright with me... Thanks for sharing!! I subbed!!!
Thanks. I always like the more direct and to the point videos. You'll hear the sound of the tools and dialog if it's necessary to get the point across or to point something out. I appreciate the sub
Now I have half as many clamps :)
Beauty!
Nice!
Nice hack if you have all those other tools.
You could do this with a hand drill and a hack saw but a drill press is easier.
Didn't you need to buy another clamp to double the length? How is that $0.20 when you need two clamps?
I keep wondering if you could reverse the clamps so as to apply pressure on two INSIDE surfaces..Seems to me that would be the ONLY reason for the clamp ends to be removable..
Correct, these can be used as spreaders as well. I think the Irwin brands can do that as well. The older ones did not however.
👍
Very cool!
Thanks!
Nice hack if you dont have any money, however, just buy proper clamps. If your pinching this many pennies on clamps you should stop woodworking you dont have the tools he has to make this easy. Just buy the proper clamps you need.
